RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

Damn. Was planning to go tomorrow morning and be there by 6am. Now I’m not sure.... would pushing till next week be smarter?

There's no morning EMH anymore. The 7am time is for everyone, except the people that open the park at 5:30. So what benefit is there to have the park open earlier if all it's going to do is eat boarding passes earlier?
No one knows at this point. If they still open the park at 6-6:30, it accomplishes getting the actual opening time and the listed time closer. I'm sure they are getting a lot of complaints from guests that show up at 8-8:30 and are shut out. Now its on them if they show up an hour and a half after opening and don't get to ride.

I think that people will now show up at 5am for a 7am opening...

I don’t want this to come across in a bad way so if it does please just take it at face value - it’s how it comes across in written form.

This is the most immersive attraction ever, Star Wars fan or not, it’s amazing. For all the people saying my morning family won’t accept it, it’s simple, they either need to accept that it’s the only way to ride or be OK to leave it. I personally don’t understand how you could leave it - this attraction is that good. It’s a case of either get up early one morning and accept it or miss out.

Again, I really don’t mean this to come across as rude but it’s that simple. I know Disney keep changing the playing field on us and it’s difficult for everyone until Sunday for the next EMH date but just get there at 5/6am and be prepared to wait a little bit but know you will be riding the newest, most technological attraction there is.

I also think we need to keep in mind the ride *just* opened ... it doesn't mean that you will have to be at the park 2 hours before it opens forever, but yeah, nor now, this is what you need to do if you want to ride it. There is no system they could employ that would make 100% of the people happy but this seems to be a pretty fair system

The crowds are just going to keep growing as the month goes on. I would go tomorrow and try and be there by 6am at the latest if you are ok getting a later BG or by 5am if you would like a morning bg

Is the system smart enough to recognize resort guest allow them to book BG’s 1-10 and after that it’s open to all?
I know they haven’t done this yet but maybe that’s why they’ve not been starting a BG 1

In case anyone is hoping for earlier Slinky FPs and are not also following the park hours thread, they just got loaded in for a lot of dates in December with the earlier park hours. Current hopeful plan: Arrive at DHS no later than 6am, park and BGs open at 6:30, ride all of TSL and MFSR by 8:45, ride ROTR with BG and rider swap and be done by 10:45 or so, hopefully no later than 11:30 to make it to our Droid reservation. It's going to be a whirlwind of a morning!

For anyone frustrated about on-site guests not receiving any kind of advantage (i.e., no ROTR morning EMH or early access to boarding groups), bear in mind that NO group is receiving special access. Even people who are paying a lot of money to do a VIP Tour don’t get any kind of special access to ROTR. Disney is keeping this very egalitarian...unless maybe you’re Neil Patrick Harris ;)

This is very true.

For those arriving prior to park opening at DHS to get a boarding group, what times are you booking your first FP? I had been booking them starting around 12:40 thinking that I'd want that buffer time to allow for RotR (who knows what BG) and Smuggler's Run -- is that what y'all are doing or are you booking FPs for other attractions prior to noon expecting your BG to come later?

I, along with what seemed like a thousand people, showed up by 5am today for an 8 am opening
Yeah, I was okay with 6AM as I just wanted a 30/40 bg. Now I don't know how 6AM is going to go as I doubt i can get the group together earlier.

I am not expecting an extremely early BG so I just have my fast passes for opening time. Add in all the downtime and it's hard to figure out what a good fast pass time is.

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been checking for days for Slinky dog and finally scored one! :woohoo:

That is how I originally had all my FP+ reservations before we found out how the BG was going to work. I assumed I would be waiting in a standby line to get in RotR.

I threw that plan out the window this week and moved all my FP+ back to early morning. The plan now is to RD and get an early BG. If it ends up conflicting with a FP+, RotR will take priority and I will try to shift the FP+ to later.

Only time will tell if this will be the wrong approach. :rolleyes1

I am hopping for a mid morning BG. My SDD FastPass is 8:30-9:30. Gives me a hour and half or more to roped drop RNR, ToT, TSMM, and then do SDD FP, then wait in line for the millennium falcon and hopefully get through it by time my BG is called.
