That is AWESOME NEWS!!! Congrats to him!! 🎉

But, are you really prepared to leave our great state?!?! 🏔 ☀Lol, just kidding, there are great places all over the country, all our Dis friends here live in them!
Thank you!
I will be sad to leave here, if that’s what we decide, and I’m very happy we have at least two more years before we can do anything anyways!!

Actually it was warm last week, and locals lamenting the lack of rain. The excursions we did were the Yukon bus trip with Dogcart experience direct with Chilkoot Charters (saw lots of recs for this company on cruise board). They have a bus up/train down or vice versa, but it is longer and I didn’t think DS would tolerate much more than a 5 hour trip. During the trip up, some of those taking the train back said they thought we got a better deal because they weren’t going to see anything extra from the train (but it costs more). On the way back, it was us and one other couple (24 people going up) so the driver said he would stop whenever we wanted. He made a few unscheduled stops to see waterfalls and a moose. Since I booked direct, I used URs for a credit.
I also booked a whale watching expedition thru the UR portal. It was thru Juneau Whale Watch and included 2 hrs whale watching then drop off near Mendenhall Glacier where you can hike about 2 miles to the closest viewing point. Then they have a shuttle you can take back to town.
I also booked a floatplane to Misty Fjords but chickened out. Sadly that was the only non refundable excursion I booked.

I was going to post a pic but why is it upside down?!?

Thanks. I will have to start doing some research on some of these. The whale watching sounds fun. Also was looking at the excursion where you go on the "Deadliest Catch" boat.

Mine has also gone up since I started churning last year
Yup. Actually this stupid stupid collections that showed up on DHs account this week would have been much more devastating if we didn't start churning, our scores have gone up so much. Even with the giant drop he's in the 760s on Transunion. It's not showing on Equifax :confused3
VFTW reporting Arrival Plus to be pulled TODAY. First saw it linked on r churning about an hour ago. No one knows if this is accurate or not but lots of people not waiting to find out.
FOMO here. I was really hoping to get DHs changed to a no fee Arrival and then close and reapp for this since that worked well for me. Obviously the downgrade did not happen :(

Woohoo!! party:

Or you can sell the whole package - box, paperwork, wood block for like $35. LOL.

If your plan for the airline credit is to buy gift cards instead of using it for incidentals like it was meant for, I'd do it sooner rather than later. Tagging @PolyRob too. :) Southwest still works, I did the whole $200 at once. I think Delta still works, but maybe only $50 at once and only on desktop? I haven't kept up with that. Flyertalk has a dedicated thread, so I'd check that right before you buy. Although even that is no guarantee. I bought an AA gift card right before it stopped crediting, before it had a chance to be reported. Lucky me, lol. It's a loophole, so nothing to do but suck it up.

Here's the Southwest one:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ame...rsement-reports-wn-fl-southwest-only-120.html
You'll need to pick an airline first and some people say to wait a day to make sure it's in the system. You're only supposed to change it once a year. But so far, it's been easy to change via chat if you need to.

Thanks for the advice! I was probably going to choose SW anyway even before you mentioned the GC credit since we have a lot of flights on SW coming up and worse case scenario could use them for Priority A1-A15....but Happy to at least try for the GC credit.

...Hoover Dam was voted
'Most Boring Stop' on our family trip a few years back:rotfl2: I don't know why except it was a long hot drive, and we were anxious to get out to Yosemite asap before dark..... we got out,all digruntled b/c DH really wanted to see it all....and got back in the car after, still digruntled (except for DH lol)

That's the BEST DAM tour I've ever been on! (of course I've only been on one)

I'm going to blame this on finals and the amount of grades and calculations I've been doing the last 2 weeks....When can I apply for the CIP. I'm trying to decide if I want to do a personal Citi or grab a mailer for the Biz....

4/19 Amex Delta Gold Biz
1/19 Amex Everyday
12/18 Amex Hilton Aspire
10/18 IHG Chase
10/18 Citi Biz AA
5/18 Best Buy (I know I wanted the damn financing)
11/17 Amex Delta Gold (personal - Closed)
10/17 Amex Hilton Ascend
9/17 - BOA (0%)
9/17 - Barclay Red AAviator
4/17 - Spirit MC (Grrrr)

So do I hit it in Nov 2019? And if I got another personal card I'm moving that date to 5/2020? I'm dying to get the damn CIP!

I’m feeling so impatient and having major FOMO about the app for DH’s cip2. Closed the first one 5/31. Trying to hold off a few more days even tho Lain shared that DP of 6 days being fine. As y’all know, I am overly cautious in my churning.

In the meantime, dh’s Hilton biz comes up on the AF on 6/1. Considering switching to a personal card for him b/c the categories are better and he would still get 12x-14x for Hilton purchases. I’m not sure the Aspire is worth the AF since he is diamond anyways but we would use the resort credit. So I am leaning towards he ascend. Any thoughts? Change to personal or keep the biz version?

BIG SOUTHWEST SUPPORT CLICK NEWS!!
You can now generate a support link from ANY Southwest Card to ANY other Southwest Card.

AND for the first time (ever?) you can now generate support clicks to SW Business cards for the 60k Offer!! Unfortunately the personal cards all still point to the lower 40k offer. The "big" news part of this is obviously being able to generate support for a SW biz card. If you have a personal SW you can now get 70k SW points out of just one application by having a spouse use the support link OR "self-supporting".

If you generate the support click it goes to a landing page where you can choose to apply for ANY Southwest Card.

Any old Southwest support links will not update to this new format as they won't include the "226f" portion of the link.

Also be aware that this new link appears to ALWAYS land on the SW Plus card no matter which card generated the link. On mobile you'll see the cards listed top to bottom. On Desktop you'll see them listed from left to right. You have to make sure to select the business card tab THEN say apply now.

Special thanks for @palhockeymomof2 for checking one detail on this for me too :)
How do I find the refer link to share with a friend?

@disfanforlife I agree with Lain's assessment above. I can tell you that I got the SW Biz in Oct last year and a personal SW Priority 24 days later with no problems (and I was at 4/24). It was smart to get the biz card first! And you should check and see if you can generate a self-supporting SW link for your personal app for an additional 10K RRs like @SouthFayetteFan let us know about.

This is the Chase RAF site to check and see if you can create that link.

Thank you, I appreciate you sharing that info with me. I don't think that self-supporting link works with the current 60,000 offer though. It is something I was going to try and use if I decided to wait on applying until after 6/9. But I think I am going to try and go for it before then for the extra points.

You can return stuff as long as you buy more to offset what was returned. They can and may claw the bonus back if you don't actually meet the spend.

I would just male sure you did meet it. I had the same concern as @happ because they can take them back.

Well I'm at $4139 w/ the back and forth of the returns so far. The spend was $4k. I'll put a little more on it just incase I return a few more swimsuits, but I should be good.

Ok. Going against the general advice to be cautious and space out your cards by 3 months when applying for a new card with Chase, I'd say you're ok to go for the SW Premier card before June 9.

The reason being you're 0/24, which means you haven't opened any cards other than the SW Biz in the past 2 years. That doesn't look like a risky customer about to "bust out" to me, and you shouldn't to Chase. Your risk factor is likely very low. Just give yourself adequate space with Chase after you're approved for the SW Premier.

Second, while Chase's guidelines are that you have applied for no other Chase cards in the 30 days before applying for a Chase biz card, you can have applied for 1 other Chase (personal or biz) card within 30 days before applying for a Chase personal card. So, even if you applied for the SW Biz card in the last 30 days, that shouldn't bar you from applying and getting approved for a SW personal card, like the Premier, now, before the 60k RR points offers go away.

Great! Thank you so much for your input. I appreciate it. :)

I’m also in the 760s

Looks like 11/19

Since you're dying for the CIP better sooner rather than later. This game changes fast so I would not want to put it off 6 months. Stick to biz cards.

Am I doing the math right? Am I able to go for the CIP in 11/2019? Otherwise it's 5/2020? I'm find going for biz. I'll buy a mailer and do Citi Biz and I've got my eye on the Hilton Biz too, but I need to wait and drop my SPG Biz. I never thought I'd be letting that go (had it since 2006) but it just doesn't seem worth it now. I have all 5 Amex slots taken, and I don't feel the Bonvoy Biz has the value the SPG had. I'll drop the Aspire at it's renewal time and keep the Ascend (as I'm grandfathered into the free night a year Surpass got).

As for DH, between a CIP and CSP+CSR MDD, I'd start him off with a CIP.

The CSP+CSR combo will net you a 60k UR SUB on the CSP and a 50k UR SUB on the CSR (110k UR), but the combined MSRs on these two cards is $8k in the same 3 months period. In addition the MDD requires applying over a two day period, and possibly requiring a call in to get an app approved if it's not insta-approved. So you should consider how comfortable your husband is to calling in for approval consider how you'll meet the spend.

Another thing to consider is that a MDD will put you at 2 cards in 1 month, 2 cards in 3 months, so you may want to put off another Chase app for a little longer than 3 months after a MDD to be cautious.

The CIP has a 80k SUB, but a lower $5k MSR, then P2 could support you to a CIP in a few months after your SW Premier. And, if the CIPpy cup is still flowing, then you two could keep supporting each other for more sips.

I think that does sound like the best route for us. He won't enjoy making a phone call. He will sign up for whatever I want him to - he just doesn't want to be bothered with any of the details. The MSR for either shouldn't be an issue because we have 2 kids in college. So there are lots of bills for that that we can use credit cards for.

I don't see a lot of talk about the Discover It card or the Capital One Savor. What are the thoughts on those cards?

I think they don't get a lot of talk because most are in it for the sign up bonus and CapOne is finicky. Personally, I can't comment on the Savor as they're on our blacklist so I don't really bother to check them out. But Capital One is unpredictable in when they'll approve a card so not everyone can get it. I know there's a bunch on here that have the Venture card, not sure how many tried for the Savor ones.

Discover it pops up but with no real sign up bonus and very little changes, there's not much to discuss. It is a good card to have but when you're looking at a $50 statement credit and about $750 cashback if you max out all the 5% categories during your first year as a sign up bonus, which equals at least $7,500 in spend, versus something like the Chase Ink Preferred with a 80k bonus which cashes out to $800 after only $5,000 in spend OR even the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the current 60k bonus which cashes out at $600 but only needs $4,000 in spend, the return on spend generally favors other cards (even with AF's sometimes). Not to mention the Discover system really only has 3 cards and you can only carry 2 of them at once versus Chase which has 7 cards that earn UR points and can hold ALL of them at once if you play your cards right.

Personally I have the Discover it and it Chrome cards (so I'm maxed for now) and I think they're fine cards. I got just over 1k in cashback on my first year of the IT card... but I really don't want to add up how much spend that really took me because only $750 of that came from bonus categories  (and please don't any of you :teacher: people tell me. thanks! :p) Whereas I received $1,500 worth of UR points for $11,000 in spend. And to add complexity to it, I didn't actually redeem those points for cash, I redeemed them for travel with a 1.5x multiplier so I actually turned them into a $2,250 return on spend.

So yeah, Chase gets talked about A LOT on here. Probably closely followed by AmEx which has a similar program. And then Barclay's Arrival+, CapOne Venture, and the various airline and hotel cards from the same issuers. For now, points programs can give outsized value over cashback if you understand them so they get more discussion. Doesn't mean they're bad cards, just more like the comfortable slipper you wear day after day versus the snazzy bunch of stilettoes you rotate through every couple of months :teeth:
That said, if you can do both, max out Discover and get all the other cards, do both! It's a good card to keep in the wallet. I'm sure the Savor is too, if you can get it.
