Who's going for one last Wishes?

I am contemplating a trip to see Wishes one last time. May 11th is my birthday and it seems like a good excuse to plan a short trip to Disney. I would have to pull the kids out of school again, so I am still on the fence.

Dang so are MK crowds going to be insane on 5/11? We booked that week because we thought it would be a low crowd week.
We live about 1 1/2-2 hours away and I have 3 of my friends and their families going over on Thursday the 11th for the final wishes show. I think it is going to be very crowded that evening. I imagine all locals will be there as well.

It is my friend's birthday as well. We will leave right after school on Thursday but kids are going to miss Friday from school. My daughter is 14 and Wishes is all she has known.

This makes me think for just that evening of our trip we should expect heavy crowds. Everyone should expect heavy crowds. But that's not gonna stop us!! We will be the forty something couple, sans children, holding hands with me blubbering tissues in hand and mascara on my husbands t-shirt sleeve!
Wait... that's likely describes a large part of the crowd for that night!

We got lucky. I just happened that our trip to Disney from Canada this year is in May. Our 2 MK days are May 11 and 13 so we will get to see the last night and one of the first for the new show. Sounds like the 11th may be packed but my ADRs and FPs are already scheduled so I can't move to another day. I will just have to get a good spot for my little one.

I wish I could afford to do a spontaneous weekend trip. I saw Wishes for the last time last year. I wish I knew it was going to be my last time :(

I'm right there with you! My DD and I were in Disney last December, and were walking toward the buses when Wishes were starting ( we were soooo tired as my DD performed in Disney that day...was a really looonnngggg day and we wee exhausted). Had I known that we would never see it again, we might have forced ourselves to stay.

Yep, will have to remember the waterproof mascara for the night and who cares if it crowded. Everyone can see. I am sad my older daughter moved to Boston about a month ago but I don't think I could have handled going with her. She cries just watching Wishes. Can't imagine her on the final night.

for those of you planning on coming for the last Wishes, as others have said, it will be crowded. I have been to many "last day of" things, most recently MSEP, we grabbed spots for it 4 hours before the first showing to stay all the way until the last parade. If you want to watch Wishes from Main Street/Hub area make sure to grab your spots early.

My DH came to me about 2 hours ago and said I could plan a trip down for 5/6-5/8 so that I can see it one last time. It is a very special show with a lot of sentimental value for me. I did the math in a number of different scenarios and I just can't justify it. :( We are going down in mid-June as it is for 9 days so to spend $1000 just to see fireworks seems a bit much. I cried my eyes out during the live stream the other night and am honestly still turning this idea over in my head but I feel I need to make this decision. My heart is going to break. I hope what they put out there is great and then I come to love it.

I wish we lived closer! It is a 10-hour drive for us.

We won't be there until the first week of May but we couldn't miss seeing Wishes just one more time! :sad1: We have dessert party booked May 3rd.

I love Wishes! Always makes me tear up....DH and I are headed down to see it one last time in May.

I'm heading down in a little over a week for a birthday trip/last time to see wishes. That week worked out and I had to go one last time. We are ending all of our nights in MK to watch it and have the dessert party on my birthday.

We have the dessert party booked on May 11th. I've always wanted to do it, but the thought of trying to fight crowds to get a good spot with our large party pushed me to finally book it. We have our 3 FP booked immediately before the dessert party starts since it'll also be arrival day for us. It'll be hectic, but hopefully some good memories for our last wishes.

October,2003.

Thanks for this. I was curious myself. I had a long layoff between going as a kid, and rediscovering my love for WDW thanks to my beautiful wife in 2009. Wishes is the only fireworks show that I remember.

I was just there over the weekend and I knew it would be my last Wishes in the park (will be at the Poly on April 27 for a night before a cruise and will watch from the beach!).

I did the dessert party since I wanted a great spot... and I recommend it to anyone. So nice to have a area that isn't crowded to just sit and watch for the last time!

We will see it May 3rd. Glad we get to see one last showing and I look forward to seeing the new show in November.
