BREAKING: Bob Iger announces opening date for Pandora!

somebody live stremed it on youtube last night from the event but i have to say i felt kind of bored. As a theatre director/choreographer myself I didn't really see a clear theme or story, there is something to do with the sun and sea but thats all i got. It is visually nice though just far too short. If I ever see it in person i'll be sure to get a fastpass :)
This is actually longer than the fireworks shows on property.

This show is purposely avoiding "Disney IP", they wanted something original and that fits the theme of AK, and this does just that.
My time at AK is very limited and this show is not where I'm going to spend it. I hope everyone else falls in love with it and has a grand time. Happy for them, but as is, it's not for me.

Yeah, I mean Illuminations doesn't use any IP, and it's still pretty great. I won't watch the video since I prefer to see it live first, but the lack of inclusion of Disney properties doesn't really phase me.

I haven't seen it in person yet but of course based on what I saw in the videos this show is perfectly suited for AK.

I have to be honest, and say that I really haven't kept up on all of the Pandora media and posts. I have never seen the movie Avatar, but do plan to watch it before our upcoming trip this summer. Is there one place that I might look to catch up on the rides/shows that will be part of Pandora? My family will be visiting early August, and I would like to share everything with them. DH and myself are very interested, though, in seeing ROL. Do you think it will be best to get FP+ when they become available? I am also really excited about visiting AK at night!

We would love to see Pandora, but I was really hoping that it wouldn't be open during our June trip. We have really limited time since I'm going to be at a conference most of the time. Animal Kingdom is our favorite park, but I'm not sure we can deal with that kind of chaos!

The Illuminations comparison seems to be a good one. Both shows, it seems, are quite conceptual. (Which some might phrase as "what is this supposed to be?") For "Illuminations: RoE", Disney released materials describing the three acts of the show and what they represented, so perhaps we'll get a description of RoL as well, so that we can watch it as more than "a bunch of pretty lights and water".

Illuminations has a lot of "in your face" pyro that saves what is otherwise a kinda boring show. But it fits well within World Showcase.

Personally, I associate the Illuminations music with a great day in Epcot, but it otherwise lacks a great emotional "hook" like Wishes or F!

So far, I have not seen an effective emotional "hook" with the ROL show.

I think it's "just" (2) rides, dining and shopping

(there is the potential that both rides will be very cool)

Just like you said illuminations fits Epcot this new show fits AK.

I guess I am the only one who has no interest in seeing this at all. I am still sooo angry at Disney for doing Pandora and letting Universal get Harry Potter.

You are definitely not the only one. I've never seen Avatar, and feel kind of... meh at the idea of a whole land devoted to it.

Last summer I was caught up RoL drama. That said, I'm a little apprehensive that Pandora will roll out as promised, but heck anything is possible, right?:rolleyes1
I don't know anything about Avatar/Pandora, but both attractions sound interesting. I know we'll have to ride standby...we are staying at SOG this July so at 30 days out we can kiss FP+ goodbye.
Looking at the bright side, with everyone's attention on Pandora, all of the other attractions may be walk-ons.
