BREAKING: Bob Iger announces opening date for Pandora!

We will be there 3 weeks after opening. Since we are there for 2 weeks, I had already planned 2 days at AK. Now, I think I will have to plan more. Another part of our plans was staying offsite both weeks. May have to break down and stay onsite for one.

Not sure if I'm thrilled or a lil scared!
Be both.
The press event portion should have calmed down by then, so it should be mainly day guests. The question is, what will the lines be like just to get in to AK? Both ROL and Pandora will be open.

What type of ride will this be? Like Soaring? Roller coaster like? :scratchin

We fly in on the 26th and our first park day is the 27th. We'll go check it out and if I can grab a fastpass we'll ride but I'm not changing any of my plans or ADRs for it I have other AK days planned for this trip

It is supposed to be something like Soarin' crossed with Star Tours, so to me that sounds a bit like The Simpsons Ride (or Back to the Future) at Universal, large screen projections with a simulator ride. You are supposed to be riding on a "Banshee" one of the flying dragon creatures from Avatar.

It is supposed to be the more thrilling of the two rides in Pandora, with the boat ride being a more family ride. We don't know the height requirement yet, so that should give some indication of the intensity level.

I guess I am the only one who has no interest in seeing this at all. I am still sooo angry at Disney for doing Pandora and letting Universal get Harry Potter.

I'm hoping it will be open during the DVC member private event in September. It's our only park visit on our September trip (staying at SSR but doing Seaworld Bush Gardens and Discovery cove)

Hmmm, I do ok on Soarin but not so much on Star Tours. Guess I'll have to take a Bonine that day

Yup to all.

The fact that they keep referring to the boat as "the family ride" and the flight as "thrill ride" and "E Ticket" .... I would expect a height requirement.

Rumored opening within the next 6 weeks. There is a possibility it may make some sort of debut/preview tonight to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. We'll wait and see! It has taken way too long, but it is going to be amazing once it finally opens!!
somebody live stremed it on youtube last night from the event but i have to say i felt kind of bored. As a theatre director/choreographer myself I didn't really see a clear theme or story, there is something to do with the sun and sea but thats all i got. It is visually nice though just far too short. If I ever see it in person i'll be sure to get a fastpass :)

Pandora means nothing to us either. Except that it is some new attractions for AK, which has been needed for years. We are arriving May 31st, so it will probably be crazy. We may get lucky and enjoy the lesser crowd elsewhere, since my kids have no idea what Pandora even means. LOL!

We are going from 5/30 - 6/4, and weren't planning on going to AK this trip. I hope this pulls crowds from the other parks! (And I hope all of you going for the open have an awesome time!)

I saw the video. All this mystical water and light stuff is just not my thing. In a Disney nighttime extravaganza I want the classics. Songs primarily (but not necessarily exclusively) drawn from the shows I already love. So I'll be happy to hit a few extra attractions while the masses are sitting through this one.

This show is purposely avoiding "Disney IP", they wanted something original and that fits the theme of AK, and this does just that.
