To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

Official results of the big contest will be posted before 8:30am today! (Technical difficulties inside the roxymama household)

Is the suspense just too much? :)

Here's how everyone did for rank for marathon time guess. The time was 3:20:49 and @pixarmom was only off by a few seconds. Well done!

Thanks for your patience with me posting as my OLD Mac just wasn't working with me. But we have a WINNER!
Per the change of plans rules, I doubled everyone's points for the marathon portion. Although you would think that @pixarmom would automatically win that way...we had one person with a great 10k & marathon guess who took home the big prize

CONGRATULATIONS @opusone

Now let's pour one out for @DopeyBadger 's original spreadsheet that had so many beautiful cells for half, goofy and dopey times left unused. Maybe next year :)
And I will continue to pretend like I would have won if the half marathon was ran (or at least come in a close second to @FFigawi, right?)

PS Billy, you came in 6th in your own contest...not too shabby!

I'm a winner; I'm a winner!! Yeehaw. I can finally say I won a running-related event. Actually, all the runners this past weekend are the real winners… especially the ones that are meeting for DATW today. Those of us not there have been following in jealousy.

Also, if I remember correctly, there is a gift card prize associated with this distinguished honor. If so, I think I'll take a great idea from @Keels and @FFigawi and have @DopeyBadger hand it out to a volunteer at the next running event he takes part in.

Ok, so I made you a trophy since you are foregoing the cash prize. You won 1st place in your age group for being a nice person!

Nicely done! The volunteers I gave my gift cards to yesterday were very surprised and very pleased to receive them. They went to people shivering handing out water and freezing while directing runners along the way. I wanted to give one to a band member playing a trombone or other brass instrument since I know how cold those mouthpieces are, but never had the chance.

Long sleeves roll up. Just sayin.

Definitely the right decision. It was a whirl-wind of too hot or too cold based on the wind direction, but a singlet would have made marathon day a little tougher.

Have a great race! I'm off to sleep myself. Hope to see you tomorrow and if not, stay warm!

Thanks and hope you had a good race as well!

You are one with the the Force and the Force is with you.

Since as Obi-Wan Kenobi once said "In my experience there's no such thing as luck."

Thanks! This definitely came to mind during the run!

He's gotten faster at each timing mat and he's halfway there!!

5 miles at 7:49 avg
10 miles at 7:41
13.1 miles at 7:37
Nice!!!
Official half split is 1:39:45

The guesstimate finish time is 3:19:29 per the live alerts which would be a PR! Go go go go!

Pac-Man and my natural talent lies in endurance events. So as the run progresses I tend to get faster.

He's crossed 20 miles at 7:34 pace.
New alert-guessed finish is 3:18:16 at 8:58am.

Gogogogo!

(My kiddo woke me up early today so at least I'll get to say congrats in live time!)

Almost there!

PR alert!!!

Dopey Challenge: - Finish in 3:20:49. Pace 7:40. Presented by RunDisney.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Woot woot! All those bananas came in handy!

Awesome!! Congrats @DopeyBadger!

Thanks!

Congrats on your PR! I have no doubt you would have PR'd the half too. Wow, a sweep! :worship::car::dogdance::yay::cool1::cheer2:

Thanks! It's tough to say whether it would have happened given the marathon time I ran and the conditions on marathon day. No doubt I would have PR'd the half, but I think I would have ended up slower for the marathon. Although, we'll wait until the recap...

Thanks!

Congrats!!

Thanks!

Sorry for not getting the results to y'all sooner. My mom came to rescue me (aka babysit) so I could do my long run and I'm taking her to dinner as payback. I promise for official data tonight.

And omg it's 15 degrees out here in a Chicago (no sympathy I'm sure from marathoners). :)

Was definitely a sad shock to come back to Wisconsin!

Great job!

Thanks! I saw you during the out-back prior to AK, but by the time I realized it we were past each other. Congrats to you as well!

Congrats to DopeyBadger on his PR!

Thanks! How did it go for you?

That's amazing!! Congratulations!!

Thanks!

Great Job!!!!

Thanks!

Well done! Congrats on a great race.

Thanks!

Congratulations on the race! Hope you had a great time out there!

Thanks! I did have a great time. It wasn't quite the same feeling as the October 2015 marathon where I finally broke 4 hours, but this was the closest marathon feeling to that. If it weren't for that wind after WWOS things might have gone even better.

LOL!

FYI, I don't believe it will change the results, but the official finishing time on rundisney is 3:20:52. I do believe that @FFigawi probably would have taken home the title if it hadn't been for the cancelled half.

Right! :)

Congrats to @opusone for winning and @DopeyBadger for the running which made this all possible.

Thanks!

Done and done. I will get a $10 Amazon gift card and I will pass it out at the 2017 Lakefront Marathon in October.

Well done! I have to imagine as cold as we were that they were much colder and they appreciated the gesture.

BTW @DopeyBadger, you're going to like your ranking this year.

:teeth:

Well now I want to know too!

:badpc:

I'm still checking over a few things, but if nothing changes (and rD doesn't update their Dopey results), it appears that @DopeyBadger was 43rd overall!!

party:

Thanks for putting that together and that's awesome! I'm actually a tad surprised because I thought I would lose a little bit of my recovery advantage with some other runners opting to not do a unofficial HM as well. So I will definitely take still hitting the goal without the HM.

That's pretty impressive!! Congrats on winning the contest :-)

:thumbsup2

Congrats to the winner!!! Great idea for use of the gift card prize! And I'm very happy to come in second place using my entirely non-scientific process for earning second place - just like in my college Final Four Tournament!

Many congrats on your PR, DopeyBadger! Thanks again for your shout-out to mateojr - I'm sure he will be watching out for you during the Lakefront this fall! Will we see you at First Call?

Thanks! I knew he would enjoy it so I was happy to see you guys! Once it gets closer to Lakefront we'll have to figure out where he'll be. I haven't finalized my race schedule for the spring yet, but probably not. I need to see how it fits in.

Do you feel you're still on pace for BQ this year, or is it still to early to tell? Once again, great job on the Dopey PRs you were a beast out there :-)

It's still too early to tell. To stay on track, I was hoping for a sub-3:15 up to this point. But circumstances have dictated differently. I know it will take near perfect weather conditions for it to happen because my margin for error will be small. But a lot can happen in 10 months of training. I should have an even better idea once the summer rolls around after this 5k/10k training.

Thanks!

Congrats on your amazing finishes! Glad I got to stop and say hello after the 5K, it was an incredibly hectic couple of weeks for me so I was unable to make any of the other meet-ups.
