Compromise is a Disney word: Taking one for the team over Thanksgiving 2016* August PTR link! 5/28

Hi Ariane and Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all that! I had to comment...I LOVE BASIN!!!!!!! I am a total basin soap freak and spend upwards of $100 every trip just for me. If I know someone who's going to Disney, I give them a wad of cash and beg them to stop there for me...:):):)

Haha Josh loves exfoliating at Basin too!

Aw that's so sad that we're going the same month, but not the same dates.

I don't have pictures since I was in the water, but I know I looked like a complete moron, I could feel it, and if any of you were there you would not be disagreeing with me. The tubes aren't comfortable and I couldn't get in it the way I wanted. I was also trying to keep my hair from getting wet, because we were going back out later and my hair sucks in general but when it gets wet it's impossible to get back in shape in a reasonable amount of time. So I'm trying to situate myself with my neck in the air trying to keep my hair out of the water, but I forgot a hair tie, and I keep almost falling off the tube and then freaking out, and Chris floated away from me (on purpose I think) so I couldn't make him help me

Sounds like you were quite the sight, although I'm willing to bet it wasn't so bad. And I need a photo even though I know there isn't one.
Also this reminds me when I was with my mom at a Hammam in Morocco. As we were sitting waiting for the treatment to commence my mom pulled her hair up so it wouldn't get wet. Little did she know we'd get water poured all over us from head to toe

said good-bye to him and started walking to the gate, which only worked when I yelled, "I'm going to get dinner!" Otherwise he wouldn't have cared that I was leaving him there.

I'm guessing he really loved the pool? Promise of food would've gotten me going too...

Very nice!

I led you all to believe we were eating in DS. Which we did. Just not tonight. We did however get fancied up a bit for our dinner at Narcoossee's!

Ok, now I get not wanting to get your hair wet earlier

See the "welcome back" on the top? I thought that was so neat!

It is rather neat. Loved when I got that message too when I dined at V&A because I had mentioned when making my reservation that I was returning to Disney after an 18 year hiatus

One more quick bit of info: you may have noticed I have a new ticker. Steve and I are doing our next adults only trip in May for Flower and Garden :goodvibes

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, we couldn't leave without going downstairs and taking the obligatory picture with the GF gingerbread house:

LOVE it!

Wonder what is going on, I've been having a heck of a time lately. I type stuff and the dis seems to be about 30 seconds behind me all the time. Not sure what browser you are using, but I've started using google chrome and it seems to be better.
My iPad has been doing this when I've been on the Dis! Tonight is the first night it seems to be working properly. It was truly frustrating!

Ok so I forgive the slip up bc honestly, I only knew what we did on our trip bc of photos and my plans that I kept in my Disney folder until the report was over! Lol.

What a mess with transportation. I am so, so glad we always have our car. I have flown like twice but honestly it almost takes as long to get to airport, go through security, wait to board, wait on the runway in Atl (busiest airport so you are always like 20th in line!!), fly, etc, etc in Orlando, as it does to drive the 7 hour trip.

Glad you left plenty of time and weren't very late to your ADR. Oh and at least you had a valid reason and it wasn't bc of your dad (do I still sound bitter??? Lol).

Love the Gingerbread house photo! Does basin have liquid soap at all? I'm am just not a bar soap fan. Though I guess it wouldn't be the same visual effect, huh?

Great update and I'm okay waiting on the DS evening. I'll still be here! ;)

Though I do have an issue with you! You know you could've waited a couple weeks and overlapped with my Disney trip! Those dates are just unacceptable to me! Lol. Eh, I guess you would've missed F&G then, huh? Well just get WL ready for me, then! :)

Which I ended up freezing this day!!

So glad he rode with you! I'm having riders remorse (if that is such a thing). I wish I wouldn't have been a chicken!

Glad everything worked out so I could meet you and Chris!!! Chris is sweet! :thumbsup2 I just figured he was being shy and thinking gah mom quit talking to this crazy lady and lets go ride something!
I remember texting you while Chris was swimming, and you were in long pants and a sweatshirt lol! My sister has been visiting from Ga. since the 21st and she's absolutely freezing, like to the point where I'm laughing at her. You would be, too!
I TOLD you that you should have ridden TOT :sad2: I better hear that you rode it on your next trip!
I'm very glad we got to meet; you're so sweet and I think if we were both down on solo trips or with our DH's we'd have fun hanging out together. Although, you guys would probably feel like you were hanging with your parents :rotfl:

Wow I am shocked by your Muppets line description. We ended up doing it on our trip with no FP but we got there early right after a show had already started so we were waiting a bit in the pre-show area.

What a good mom for braving the pool and your description of trying to get comfortable in the inner tube was great. I didn't even bother putting on a bathing suit when the kids did the pool for our trip on the last night. They are okay going it Alone!
It was just a pretty crowded day at HS I think, but I'm glad you didn't need a FP! And I would never book Muppets as an initial FP >:(
Normally Chris will swim by himself or at least with Steve or even Ricky sometimes, I never go in with him at home and I can't remember the last time I swam with either of them on vacation! It was just......my guilt :sad1: And the fact that we were there alone. And, Stormalong is kind of hard to just sit and watch your kids, and even though he's old enough to swim alone he prefers to be "watched". Oh well, it's over and the next trip he and Ricky come on I will NOT be wearing my suit!!!
I'm back and all caught up!!

Chris feels about ToT the way X does about Everest - he finds every reason he can to skip it. I told him he has to at least do it every other ride.
I'm glad he rode with you and you got to have your Dismeet!!

We never even made it to the Muppets side of DHS this trip! I'm super sad. No Star Tours, no Muppets, no character meets...
So I'm glad to see your pictures and live vicariously!!

On our Yachtsman night, the kids fell in love with Stormalong Bay. They are fixated on it now! The boys wanted to swim during our week, and we were semi-close to the quiet pool, so I let them a couple times. We never made it into the Clown pool, but went by to see it...it's so small! It looks big in photos, but I was shocked at how small it looked in person. Stormalong on the other hand, was very impressive to see!
I think that's a good idea, telling them to ride the ride they dislike the most every other time. I'm going to try that with Chris next time for TOT :scratchin And since he skipped it ALL the times after Steve and Ricky came down, he's due to come on it the very first time we ride it lol!!
Dismeets are awesome!!! Not awesome I'm not having any in May!!!

You know, I don't think I'd been to the Muppets side of HS for over a year until last month, so I was excited to get there. And boy, was it crowded! Not used to so many people being over there! Chris didn't even know what Star Tours was since we don't ride it and aren't SW fans and don't walk that way often :rolleyes1 Speaking of not knowing things, yes the clown pool is on the smaller side, unlike the hallways at BWV :rotfl2: Any of you guys reading this will understand that if you go over and read xlsm's most recent TR which is linked in her signature, it's great! Anyway, my kids don't mind the clown and have enjoyed the slide, Chris liked Stormalong much better. I will say though it's kind of a pain; if you want to see what your kids are doing you can't just sit in one place. Your boys and mine are old enough they don't need to be watched every minute, but as I mentioned above Chris likes us to watch him. You pretty much have to move each time your kid goes from one area to another - sandy bottom, regular bottom. lazy river, etc. And the entrance to the slide is outside the main pool area. And IMO Hurricane Hanna's isn't located very centrally......but I digress lol.

Crying ALL THE TEARS that our May dates don't overlap!:sad: Surely we'll get those paths to cross at some point!

Are Eric and Chris good buddies? Sitting there together, they look like they could get up to some serious shenanigans! I love that Jason and his fiancee wear matching shirts, LOL!

I loved seeing the GFlo all dressed up for Christmas. The tree was gorgeous and I was in awe of the gingerbread house! It was all just so beautiful. I like Chris wearing your hoodie! I bought the 2017 version (yep, the 2017 stuff is all over the place now!) at Epcot because it was freezing cold and drizzling and I forgot to grab my fleece from the room. And by the time I realized I needed it, I did NOT want to walk all the way back to our room.

I also love the "welcome back" on your menu! I'll mention this in my TR, but we sat through the DVC tour thing on our last day, and then that night in the Beach Club, we were waiting to meet Mickey and Minnie in an outfit I'd never seen before, and we struck up a conversation with a guy in line with us who just gushed on and on about how awesome DVC was...we were convinced they somehow tracked us and planted the guy in line with us!! Mickey IS always watching!!
Believe me, I am too :sad1: :( I tried, I honestly tried! You won't believe this, but early May is busy for my mom at work - she has a pretty high up position with.........the Girl Scout Council :D Yup, they work their employees to the bone, nights and weekends included, I kid you not! And while cookie selling/delivery season will be over the cookie PANTRY will be open weekends, so the earliest in May she can watch the boys is the weekend of the 19th-21st unfortunately. Maybe I'll be able to talk Steve into an Oct. trip!!!
I want to see a pic of your 2017 hoodie! I saw some pics of the new 2017 merch and I saw a gorgeous hoodie; want to see if that's the one you got.
LOL on DVC tracking you! What really would have been funny is if when you looked at your pictures of that M&G, Mickey was holding up a sign behind you that said "DVC rocks!" :earboy2:

Ahhhh, I know! I'd give anything to be going when you and Kelley @Jfsag123 are going! But June is so hard! I mean it's not quite as hard for Steve and I to get away but definitely not the boys since they're still in school. Chris goes until almost the end of June; Ricky will start his regents exams the 2nd week in June and I really need to be here to make sure he's studying! You just need to go another time besides June lol!!
Um, maybe a little bitter :rotfl2:and now with the cancelling of the welcome show to boot, he's definitely in hot water lol!! You'll be reminding him of all this on Father's Day cards for years!
I don't recall seeing any liquid soap in Basin but I could be mistaken. I don't generally use bar soap either but I couldn't resist when I saw the holiday ones, and then I started smelling the year-round ones and I was hooked! And I think they're nice being put out for "show", so you could always do that :)

Hi there, I hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas :santa: OMG I completely understand why you love Basin!!! I'm definitely going in again when we're down in May, and I've aready started thinking about who I can buy gifts for!!!

Haha Josh loves exfoliating at Basin too!

Aw that's so sad that we're going the same month, but not the same dates.
I'm very sad our trips don't overlap, and I highly doubt I'll get down in Dec. for your next trip, either :( Wouldn't it be funny though, we live like 3 hours from each other and we may end up meeting 24 hours away in Florida at some point???? :P

Sounds like you were quite the sight, although I'm willing to bet it wasn't so bad. And I need a photo even though I know there isn't one.

Ha ha, your mom probably didn't think it was as funny as you did! I would have had no idea what was about to happen! I promise you though, I looked as bad as I described it ::yes::
Yes, Chris LOVED Stormalong Bay. I get why most kids would; and I get why lots of parents, especially those with really small kids, wouldn't. It's certainly themed great and has so many fun elements, but its huge and very spread out and not conducive to sitting in a chair, sipping a drink, and watching your kids while they're in the pool. But nonetheless he enjoyed his time while I froze my butt off, and him being happy was the important thing (at that moment!).
Very cool about your V&A menu! I still can't fathom an 18 year WDW absence. We can't let that happen again!
I may have said this already but I love your Disneyland ticker :cheer2: and your picture next to it!

Our next trip after May will probably be another September one, but that is funny!

Except.......we could only get half way up the ramp because the line for the resort monorail was ridiculous! It was now 6:35 so I was ok as our reservation was 7:10. I'll just say we ended up being 20 minutes late to Narcoossee's. Two monorails came and the CM's announced they were going out of rotation for the night
The monorail issues were a tad much this trip. Especially around the busiest times of the day. I think we spent about 30 mins one day while waiting on the thing to even move.

After leaving we went in Basin, I love the smell! Chris exfoliated his hands like 20 times lol. We also bought soaps for the first time. They have so many and the had Christmas scents, so I think I spent upwards of $80 in there!
I LOVED Basin! Bought several goodies to come home with myself.

I'm bummed about is that at least 3 of my Dis friends are going in May: @xlsm, @Raeven and @kittylady1972 , and our trip doesn't overlap with any of them :( Some day, ladies!**
This makes me a little sad to know you are going in May! We ended up canceling our Jan trip but it is more of a celebration! My nephew is currently overseas in the Air Force and will be coming home the week we planned to go to Disney! While I'm sad we won't be going back as quick as I had hoped we are looking around the last week of April or first week of May!

I'm very glad we got to meet; you're so sweet and I think if we were both down on solo trips or with our DH's we'd have fun hanging out together. Although, you guys would probably feel like you were hanging with your parents :rotfl:
Bahaha I'm pretty sure it would be the other way around. If I'm not working my usual bedtime is 8:30 and then I tend to be up by 6 :D:drive:

Believe me, I am too :sad1: :( I tried, I honestly tried! I love that your mom works for the Girl Scout Council!! I'd be hitting her up for samoas all the time (or caramel delights...aren't they called different things in different places?? I feel like we got them once and they weren't called samoas).

Hey Steve...Oct 15 would be a great time to start a trip, man. Just sayin'...
(I really need to get that trip booked...my mom is supposed to come visit in a few weeks so we can hammer out some details!)

I'll go pull it out of the closet and take a picture to post in a minute...all of the ones I have of me in it, a kid is in front of me. It has a galaxy print sorcerer Mickey fabric applique on the front in shades of blue and pink with the castle silhouette on it, with Walt Disney World down the arm in the same colors, and the back has silver sparkly park icons on it, and 2017 embroidered in blue. It sounds hideous in my description, but it was pretty enough that I bought a white hoodie! I'm scared I'm going to destroy it.

I'll be right back with a hoodie pic :)

I don't know why I never gt so excited about Basin before this! We'd gone in on other trips and I'd smelled all the things but nothing ever "hit" me as something I had to have. And maybe we weren't in there on or Thanksgiving trip so I wasn't looking for gifts? IDK, but now it's a must-do for me!
I was wondering about your Jan. trip since I swore you had a ticker at one point, that's too bad :( But at least you have a good idea when your next trip will be, and it's not too far after Jan! Gives you more time to prepare for TOT ;) It really does stink though if you go the first week in May, because then I think you'll probably overlap some dates with @xlsm and @Raeven and I'LL STILL BE IN NY GETTING READY TO COME DOWN
why don't you try for later in May :D

I love that your mom works for the Girl Scout Council!! I'd be hitting her up for samoas all the time (or caramel delights...aren't they called different things in different places?? I feel like we got them once and they weren't called samoas).

THAT'S the hoodie I saw in the article about the new 2017 merchandise, I think it's so beautiful!! Since mine is from 2014 I may have to update in May.
Oct. 15th, duly noted :surfweb:
OT: So I asked my sister today who is visiting from Ga. and also works for the G.S. Council about samoas vs. caramel delights, as I've never heard them referred to as that before. Turns out it's a bakery thing. There are 2 girl scout cookie bakeries, Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakery. Little Brownies' are called samoas and ABC are called caramel delights: same cookie. Each council across the country can decide which bakery to use so depending on that, different areas will use the different names. And also just FYI, Little Brownie is introducing a "limited time" cookie in 2017 to celebrate the 100th year of girl scouts selling cookies. My sister said it's a s'mores cookie and it's d-lish!

I know about the different bakeries and it makes me sad because whichever one they use around here doesn't have the cookies I want! I've heard of a couple that the other bakery makes that I really, really want but we never ever have it. So sad. :( #firstworldproblems lol

Which cookies do you want? Maybe I can send some down to you during cookie season :goodvibes

**One more quick bit of info: you may have noticed I have a new ticker. Steve and I are doing our next adults only trip in May for Flower and Garden :goodvibes It's a short trip, May 18-22nd, but a short trip is better than no trip! Right now we're booked at the WL. I'm very excited and I can't wait! Only thing I'm bummed about is that at least 3 of my Dis friends are going in May: @xlsm, @Raeven and @kittylady1972 , and our trip doesn't overlap with any of them :( Some day, ladies!**

Awww...excited for your next trip and sad it didn't overlap as well, but it's always so hard to plan meetings when you are dragging around the rest of the family. Our May trip isn't 100% set in stone, but hopefully it will work out. We are also hoping for an August trip and an October trip and I think next Thanksgiving as well. We'll see what happens.

Which cookies do you want? Maybe I can send some down to you during cookie season :goodvibes
OMG...I would forever in your debt! The ones I have been wanting are the lemonades but I just went and looked and the s'mores ones sound so good as well as the thanks-a-lot. I would totally paypal you the money or send it whatever way you want it!

I think there used to be some cranberry ones but I don't see those anymore.

Of course I got behind because it's just what I do, but congrats on having your next trip dates planned! Our first family trip was around that time (5/19-5/25) and we loved it. The weather was gorgeous and we loved getting to see Flower and Garden. While I would, of course, prefer that you waited a couple of weeks until June (all the cool kids are doing it, right? @ArielSRL), I completely get choosing May, especially with y'all's schedules.

I am loving all of your pics, particularly those at BC/BCV. And you had me cracking up about Chris floating away on purpose in the lazy river. These kids just don't understand the struggle sometimes. :rotfl: Also, I have added the slush from Sunshine Tree Terrace to my list of things to try. As amazing as it was in December, I'm sure it will be divine in the awful heat of June.
