Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

Well Soon I will get to update my signature as I add the Contemporary on to our next fall travel plans.

We have stayed at the Wilderness lodge 4 x
And The Grand Floridian 4 x.

This will be a first and we have a tower bay view.
Excited, but anxious

Looking forward to reading this whole thread (lol)

We are at POR right now, but check in to CR tomorrow!

We want to make rope drop at Epcot later this week. 9am opening. What time should we catch the monorail? i know we'll have to switch at the TTC.

Hello! Can I be added to the log-a-rail? I'll be at CR Aug 26 - Sept 4 next year. I booked a Standard Garden Wing on the bounceback when I was there this past year.

It's been my dream to stay at CR since I was a kid and would love a TPV room, but compromising to the Garden Wing for budget reasons. If I am able to take advantage of a decent room discount, I may forego the dining and move to the tower... we shall see! Regardless, I figure any day at the CR, no matter what room you're in, is a pretty good day!

It's my first time staying at BLT after many stays at GF, Poly, and BWI. I like the resort so far, the location is perfect with a toddler!

But, I have a question for those of you who have frequented this resort-- is it always so noisy at night? Its the first night of our stay and after getting up at 3:30am having it sound like Wishes and the Electrical Parade are right in our room (even with my daughters white noise machine running) is a little disappointing. I'm hoping that most of our evenings we'll be out and about later, so hopefully it won't affect us. We've never experienced this at GF or Poly.

:welcome: to the DIS and the CR/BLT thread, @Bcasella927!

Was just able to add an extra night to our stay so now we check in on Dec 8th pixiedust: Can't wait, first time we've visited during the holidays for years. Very excited to see all the decorations again!

WOOHOO! CR? Departure date? (For the log.)

Add me to the Logorail please! :upsidedow My husband and I are headed back to the CR Tower Club (14th floor) January 21-28. This'll be our third trip to Tower Club and I couldn't be more excited!

I'd be happy to add you:)

Could you please add us to the Logorail for 3/10/17-3/19/17 :goodvibes
So excited I just found out our travel agent was able to switch us the CR :yay:

YAY! Consider yourself logged:)

We are seriously thinking about switching from WL to CR for our Thanksgiving trip next year. I think being able to walk to MK is a big deal for a busy week!

It is a huge advantage, but also a higher price point. All the construction at WL will hopefully be completed by then, but I do love that walkway.

Welcome! Love that Bay Lake view and congratulations on booking.

Here now! Questions about the CR? I'll try to find the answer.

Hope you're having (or had) a wonderful stay!

Please add us to the log-a-rail for 2/18 through 2/26 in BLT 2 bedroom.

Sounds like a great stay:)

Just back from a 6 night stay at CR, 5 nights on 12 and 1 night on 14. It was amazing! Happy to answer any questions for anyone :)

Just curious, why was your stay split between the Tower Club and Atrium Club?

Hope you're having a great stay. I'd get to the monorail by 0745-0800.

Of course I'll add you:). Let us know if you get your Tower room and happy planning.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

Wonderful sentiment!!

Staying at CR May 26-28 after 6 nights at Poly. We were originally going to be here for 7 nights, but won a trip in a raffle that includes a 6 night stay at a deluxe and Poly was what was available so we lengthened our overall stay but shortened up our CR portion. This is our first stay at a deluxe resort at WDW. Excited to explore these two lovely resorts!!

After our 9 night stay at the CR from 9/7-9/16, we have decided that we will stay nowhere else on Disney property except the Contemporary ever again. We have been to many other resorts at WDW resort but the CR takes the cake. Our favorite park is the Magic Kingdom, and it is worth every single penny to be able to stroll back to the room at leisure while the teeming masses jockey for room on the buses, boats, and (sometimes functioning) monorail. The pool was hardly ever busy, the food options were great, and we had a great view of Wishes from the bridge between CR and BLT.

The trip started off with a bang as we were magically upgraded from our Garden Wing room to a Bay Lake view room in the tower. We had our Garden Grocer order within 30 minutes of checking in, grabbed a snack at Contempo, and we were off to the MK. I can't again express how nice it was knowing that you didn't have to cut the night short and catch a bus or boat to get back to your room. Our MK nights were so much nicer to enjoy with this fact in the back of our heads. The room was extremely quiet at night, which is something I guess you wouldn't expect with a monorail running below. We were on the 7th floor and never heard a peep until we opened the door.

CR haters will constantly site the lack of character as to why they don't like it there. Yes, it's not elaborately themed as some of the other deluxes, but the CR is classic Disney through and through. Who needs foo-fooey upscale snobbery (joking, of course) from the GF or the faux-Fiji style of the Poly? We really liked the GF when we stayed there in 2014, but it just didn't seem like "Disney". The Poly was pretty nice, but the lobby was always a congested mob of people. The CR was bustling but we never felt packed in like sardines.

My only minor complaint - it seemed to take forever to get back home from Epcot. A transfer at the TTC and a long monorail loop made for a couple of long nights (Uber next time). No big deal though.

From here on out - it's the Contemporary or nothing for these mouseketeers!

We had a great first stay at CR (Nov. 22-25). Our TPV was worth every penny! Waking up and going to sleep with the view and sounds from MK was an incredible experience! Watching fireworks from our room with the kids already in their pjs was awesome!

A bit disappointed in the monorail issues. One morning we had to take a bus to Epcot and another day when we were trying to make the resort loop it was delayed a while as well.

Loved the size of the room for our family of five. However the room had a funny smell that took a while to get used to, and our floor felt funny. It wasn't level and there were areas that didn't feel "solid" for lack of a better description. We were on the 9th floor above chef mickeys and never heard a thing. Loved having contempo cafe right downstairs, especially for our teen.

You might even exit out the International Gateway and take a bus from BC or YC or BW to MK and monorail or walk from there.

One of the excuses I am using to book, oops, I mean reasons I am booking the Contemporary is the walking path to MK. On Thanksgiving, a relative told me that we shouldn't walk, because with a small child it takes a long time, and we should use the monorail.

Has anyone stayed at CR with a small child (3'-4', 3-4 years old)? What worked best for you?

Can you get soda refills for refillable mugs at the Sand Bar?
Is there anywhere else to refill coffee in refillable mugs besides Contempt Cafe?

Thanks! I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't make it through all 227 pages!

Will you have a stroller? The walk is about 10 minutes at an adult pace. I'd double that if you are walking at a toddler's pace, which wouldn't save you any time and would wear the child out before even arriving at the park! If you have a stroller, take the path. It's faster and a very pleasant walk. And you can come and go at your own schedule, which is the biggest selling point for us.

I asked the same. I was able to have the mug filled at the Sand Bar. They did not want to fill it at Contemporary Grounds (?) - the coffee bar; Could have been just that cast member. I didn't ever ask about coffee elsewhere.

Even for some solo adults that might be a tiring walk. But it's short in comparison to the walking you do at WDW. Truly. So if it sounds too far for anyone, they should consider having a scooter or stroller available to them to make a WDW trip manageable. It's really not so much farther than the bus stop is from MK (maybe double the distance to the farthest bus). Can't say from personal experience, but stories about CSR, POR, CBR and the values suggest to me that they have long walks just to get to the bus stop. And then you have to fold the stroller.
I liked being able to just get to the park on my time, as @Cluelyss said. So, I walked all 3 times to MK this trip. But I did take the monorail back at night. After staying until park close, it just was much nicer to rest my feet. CR is the first stop on the return from MK. You can always ride the monorail to MK as well. I'm told to allow 30 min.

So, funny you ask this. I stayed at CR when DS was in a stroller a few years ago (DS was 4) and most recently this September with no stroller (DS is 6 now). I appreciated the walking path much more when he was in a stroller, not so much when he was walking on his own. DS is a good trooper at Disney but his energy is not unlimited, so I'm a little conscious as to where/how we're expending his energy depending on what else we plan to do. (Obviously every kid is different in this regard)

But with a stroller, we were all over that path!

I had this same observation about the floors during our trip this past September. We were on the 12th floor. The floor was somewhat 'lumpy' in spots with one small in particular that was very 'soft'... so much so that I made it a point to avoid it. Gave me a weird feeling! lol....

Glad you enjoyed your stay!
