***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Certainly! :-)offtopic:FYI: warning: I am an LCSW, or clinical social worker, so I can go on and on about mindfulness, power of your thoughts, etc.! Careful what you wish for!:chat:)
I feel taking a break from outside influences, especially regarding emotionally-charged, hot-button topics, allows me to regain my own awareness of how I am feeling, and lets me focus on self-care. It helps me quiet my mind, regain balance, and regain perspective. It is easy to get wrapped up in all of "it" out there, and forget how much influence we have over ourselves (thoughts, feelings, behavior). It is easier to have peace of mind if you give yourself a chance to be a human BEING instead of a human DOING. Meditation, yoga, breathing, walking, talking to a good friend, whatever works to rejuvenate/ replenish you on a deep (soulful) level helps "turn down the noise":ssst:. Sometimes, limiting technology:badpc: is the quickest way to remember to pay attention to what is going on within. Sometimes it takes more than that. Nature is always a great direct route to allow the mind to settle. Whatever is available and works, I say do it! Hey--for many, it's WDW planning or chatting! It's all good!
Sorry for rambling--you asked, lol! :upsidedow

Lol...I appreciate the warning, but I'm truly even more glad I asked after reading your lovely and genuine response. It makes me want to ask more questions because I love these topics so much! In addition to what you said, which I wholeheartedly agree with, I've had some epiphanies lately with how the amount of time spent on line impacts the dynamic of our little family unit here. Those effects are not magical! lol But there is definitely an undeniable correlation for us! Thanks a bunch for sharing what you did. Loved your thoughts on the matter!

Sort of random off topic question but is anyone still thinking about Zika? Is anyone concerned? The temps are in the 70s it seems but the topic is out of the news. I have read that Disney does a great job at spraying and keeping mosquitos at bay anyways but I was just curious if it's still an issue in central Florida. Anyone bringing bug spray just in case?

I'm bringing bug spray. Last I heard Disney and universal are offering complimentary ones too :)

Knock on wood, lol, but I don't think I've ever gotten a mosquito bite in all the times I've been to the World. They seem to do a really good job getting rid of them. I don't think I'm going to bring any bug spray, and if I'm worried I'll seek out the spray Disney is providing.

I think I'm the only one actually doing this now, so I hope y'all don't mind if I check in anyway. #OL10LB is still going strong! I haven't had sugar since a week ago Thursday and I'm down nearly 3 pounds. I had a birthday party tonight and ate ham but avoided the sweet potatoes w/ apples and marshmallows, jello salad, corn muffins, and cupcakes. :scared: I kept thinking about the Butterfinger cupcake I'm going to eat guilt-free in 2 weeks! :thumbsup2 I can do this... I can do this... :drive:I'll just keep telling myself that...

Good for you for sticking with it!!

Nice job!! I'm doing it too, but this week because I've been sick, and the only thing I can eat is carbs, I haven't been talking about it much. However, I stepped on the scale this morning and realized I've lost almost 5 pounds this week!!

That is awesome, you guys rock! So proud of you!

I've been trucking along with it too. Had a cheat weekend since we've been away visiting family friends, but did a lot of walking yesterday and have a long run planned for this afternoon once I get home!

Donna, is that you?

haha you sound a lot like my old therapist (I know you aren't). She had a horrific tragedy happen in her life and went down the path of addiction again. I had to "break up" with her when she was coming to sessions high. I never confronted her about what I guessed, just told her I felt like I wasn't making progress and wanted to take a break but about a month after she lost her license for her second DUI and her practice is pretty much all gone. But she was a very gentle, spiritual soul and I miss her terribly.

I've been avoiding social media a lot this week because I just do not want to know what is going on in the world nor what people think of it. It sounds babyish but it's self preservation. It's been a rough week for a lot of people.
@Lisa F, Yikes! That is a sad and horrible thing to go through with someone you've developed trust and rapport. Role reversal almost. I wish I could say that sort of thing is rare for therapists, but I have known several who burn out, neglect self care, or relapse into the problems that led to them becoming therapists in the first place. If a therapist doesn't care for self, it's like being a raw, unprotected nerve pummeled by stimuli all the time. It's just too much to take in hours of others' worst pain and trauma if you absorb it like a sponge.

But thank you for the positive comparison part, lol! :goodvibes
Nothing babyish about self preservation--because if we don't do it, we can't be there for the rest of our circle.:grouphug: Right there with you on the rough week! HUGS to all who need them!
~Jessica (aka "not Donna";))

I am experiencing Disney Induced Stress. I have been in charge of planning everything for our SisterTrip. It's my sister's first Disney Trip and I want her to love it, but now I'm rethinking EVERYTHING! :crazy2: I've been trying to not overplan and we can figure things out when we get there but... that is NOT how I operate. My husband thinks all my ADRs, CV and MVMCP may be too much. He also thinks two 30yo women at Character Meals won't be fun so... yeah. He's not the biggest Disney fan.

In other news, if you're looking for Disney shirts Target and Kohls have a bunch of cute ones. I may have way too many shirts in relation to park days :rolleyes1

@SweetMo, You do Disney how YOU like to do Disney!:thumbsup2
FWIW, 30yo is in my rearview mirror and love character interactions! :bounce:
Your sister will love it if YOU are having fun. If you are constantly stressing and gauging her reaction to everything planned. . . then, not so much fun. Lighten you expectations. You will be on a trip with your sister, so you are the only two who get input in any plans.
It sounds to me like you have an awesome trip planned, and if you find the schedule to be too much after the first day you can always ease it up!
I hope your trip is magical!pixiedust:

Good stuff! I never made it to zumba as I was working nights and the 21 day fix group didn't start - honestly I'm in survival mode with my current client and trying to launch my new website and finishing up certifications. But I do want to start walking more (I currently walk 20-30 min a day).

I have a little immediate family, (only the 3 of us), and I agree more screen time lowers our interactions and conversations. Certainly not magical by any means. And WDW has created some truly magical moments for me and DS, so the stress and planning part (up to a point) always seems worth it.
I can tell you have thought quite a bit about the matter, so you know what is right for you and your family.:grouphug:
I could go on and on about these topics . . . but I have been told I am a good listener, too:goodvibes.
You are welcome a bunch!

@Iowamomof4, I'm still with it, go #OL10LB! Doing my exercise every day and no snacking after dinner. . .
We CAN do this!!!
