Disney Gift Card Deals

Yeah, I can't imagine they aren't losing big time!! I think sellers would be as well, with no reason to really buy gc's at ebay anymore. I won't be surprised if someone tells me how wrong that is but I can't see how that isn't the case.

Since this will come as no surprise to you...

If ebay is making so much money selling GCs, why on earth would they stop?

Additionally, if we're all ending up with hundreds and hundreds of dollars in our pockets just from shuffling gift cards around, where is that money coming from? The money fairy?

This is a 0 zero sum game we're in. If we're winning, the math says somebody is losing. And the people losing have decided they've lost enough.

I'm not surprised at eBay's changes. It seems like the handwriting was on the wall earlier in the summer. I don't know what direction my Disney GC deal-seeking will take in the future, but it hasn't included eBay for several months. The recent 10% eBucks combined with the Best Buy bonus GCs was too good to pass up.

If BB continues to permit GC->GC purchases, I will probably take advantage of any similar eBay deals but like many, I will probably concentrate my efforts on CC bonuses (like the $30 off $150 at Lowe's) and earning GCs through rewards programs.

Well that's the end for me. I was only buying gas giftcards and other giftcards I would eventually during the bonus bucks period. After cashing out my this round of ebucks I won't be making as many eBay purchases.

Also I just tried to make a purchase and it wasn't showing the 8% and they are saying PayPal is down right now. Anyone else seeing this?

They do have the 10 pack of $50 Wgc's, only $4.99 shipping, but then I thought I'm not sure I wanna use all those walgreens cards to buy Disney gc's. I mean hmm, I guess I could just do two $50's for a $100 disney gc, do that 5 times might not seem so bad, I guess. Doesn't seem so bad that way, seeing it typed out, lol.

Just to be clear, the 10-pack appears to be a 10-pack of $5 Walgreens GCs, $50 total. If you're on the fence about $50 cards, I seriously doubt you want to mess with $5 cards. ;)

I haven't seen anyone post about it, but it looks like PPDG is out of BB cards at the moment. I picked up a $100 BB at Meijer for $90 last night. I was going to have DH run and convert it to ebay tonight so I could get in on the 8% back before it's done for good, but no point if they're out of cards.

I don't think you understand economics. Someone doesn't have to be losing for us to be winning.

Every retailer marks a few items down to get people in their stores, because the odds are high that they will spend more once inside the store. They also offer promotions and coupons and sell gift cards for the same reason.

Ebay's bucks program is no different. We were trying to maximize how many bucks we got, and in the process we were on their site, shopping with them instead of WalMart, Amazon, or any other big website. When buying gift cards at ebay was easy, I did a LOT of shopping there. I bought children's clothes and gifts, household supplies, etc. Without the incentive to buy gift cards there, I will be doing more shopping at WalMart, and buying gift cards elsewhere. I doubt I am unusual in this.

When postage went up years ago and ebay was no longer a great big garage sale, I rarely shopped at ebay. My trips to Disney and churning brought me back. Take away the ability to use ebucks for gift cards, and I have no reason to regularly shop there. Almost everything I can get there will also be on etsy, amazon or in a local store.

I've been watching that too. I hope they don't take too terribly long to restock.

I have a feeling that they won't return until Oct 1, once we can no longer earn ebay bucks. Same for Walgreens.

@PerfessorZ and @lorijohnhill Thank you both so much for pointing that out! I really thought it was a pack of ten $50's, so really appreciate you giving me that heads up, as I was really reading that wrong! Definitely wouldn't want a ten pack of $5 cards, lol!

I'll just keep an eye out if BB comes back available, today or maybe next week if there's a lady promo before end if quarter. Otherwise I'll just put them in Disney if BB doesn't work out.

I agree with you on this. Ebay has seen a whole lot more of me since I started churning and not just for GC's. I have bought more off ebay in the last almost year than I have since they began. Same for Target. I bought a whole lot more from them. Many times I was trying to trigger ebates but I wasn't just adding a ruler. I would buy clothes or shoes. SOmething 'fun' cause I was saving so much money, I felt I could.

Just be aware that it can take up to 10 days to get your gc from SB. It took 9 for my last target card.

This is the exact reason I'm hesitant to cash out for ebay. It's appealing to save 300 SB, but the time it could take to get the card is the problem. If it would come through in a day or so I'd do it for sure, but there's no guarantee. I've gotten my ebay cards in as little as a day and as long as 11 days. It depends on what day they pay out ebay cards, and I haven't quite gotten that schedule nailed down. I just don't think it's worth the risk. I'm already waiting the last item I ordered from Target's ebay store to get here so I can return to Target, since that's how I cashed out what I had left in ebay when the GC to GC policy changed. I'd hate to get stuck with ebay cards again. Tempting, but I don't know if I want to chance it.

Speaking of postage, I now buy my stamps from the official USPS store on eBay during 10% eBucks promos. Shipping is something like $1.25, but that's more than covered by the eBucks earned. And you can pay using discounted eBay GCs.

P.S. Yes, I still send mail that requires stamps.

Good to know! Thanks.

I seem to be on Ebay more this year also. However, this is the second E-bucks offer in a row that I have not received. It's too bad as I'm ready to spend my Ebay gift cards on actual merchandise.

I don't think you understand economics. Someone doesn't have to be losing for us to be winning.

I may not "understand economics", but I understand math.

If I buy something from you for $97 and sell it back to you for $100, I've made $3 and you've lost $3.

ETA:
I still don't have anyone answering why ebay would stop an activity that's supposedly making them money. Trust me, ebay has access to everyone's buying habits. They can see how much more $ they generate on every ebay bucks promo they have. If it were a money-maker, it'd still be going.

I finally took my $100 in Kmart and $100 in Walgreens and cashed both out to Disney today. First time trying either and both stores went without any problem for me. I guess I won't be doing it again anyways because of the changes but still happy to have $200 more in Disney instead of the other gift cards.

Also related but off topic. There is a Boxed Amex offer to save $20 on $50, plus you can find $15 off coupons out there, so really $30 for $65 worth of merchandise. Their items are overpriced (some things just slightly), but with the enormous discount, it doesn't matter. They sell stamps too.

Does anyone know if JC Penny allows for GC to GC purchases? If I get a JCP gc, can I use it to buy a Disney GC? (not even sure my store carries them, but if they do and others have had luck, I may look into it.
