Code watch February 2017

Was the Stay, play, dine just a lump sum discount off of a package depending on where you stayed? Never booked that before and maybe looking to go early March next year.

Play Stay and Dine seems to be a variable affected by where you stay, length of stay, and number of guests as long as you purchase everything through Disney. Some people say it works out to 55% the cost of dining. Some say it's 9-17% off the total package. Some say it reduces adults to childrens rates. Everyone will likely have to just play with reservations to see what final dollar amount it works out to and check it against the alternative. Historically, that alternative will likely be a room only discount. Who knows though. Perhaps the low attendance might push them to offer a more attractive package.

Here are the calculations for how "Stay, Play, Dine" worked each of the past two years:

I'm not sure if I'll be doing it this year as it takes hours of work and dozens of different package setups to isolate the variables and get a conclusive result.

I am hoping the lower attendance this year will help with higher discounts. But if the attendance was just lower at the parks and not the resorts, it may not work in our favor.

We are Feb 5-11. We have never gone this time of year so I am thrown off a little on what to expect. No pin codes received just yet that I am aware of. Already booked a room on the deposit only in case PO-FQ is excluded from the PSD package (if it's offered). For the longest time I could book a room at any moderate I wanted. But this week there was a big jump and a lot of the standard rooms at Coronado springs got snatched up. I am so anxious to see the offers and exclusions.

We are Feb 5-11. We have never gone this time of year so I am thrown off a little on what to expect.

We go the first week of February nearly every year. You'll see roving hordes of 15 year old Brazilian girls being "chaperoned" by girls not much older. Apparently, their parents send them to WDW as a quinceanera gift. While there seems to be a lot of them, they are a LOT more well behaved than the American cheerleaders who sometimes appear at the same time. If you have an issue with the Brazilian girls cutting in line (their groups get broken up going into the rides, and they want to get back together, so they'll just walk past you in line), their "chaperones" usually have no issue whatsoever putting them "back in line" in high speed spirited Portuguese. The American cheerleaders can be obnoxious with their cheering while in line or walking down the streets. They also tend to line cut, and their "chaperones" are typically not interested in complaints of other guests. CM's, fortunately, recognize this. I've seen, more than once, a CM telling the cheerleaders or their chaperones what acceptable behavior is in the park. I laughed when I saw a CM at Tower of Terror force some cheerleaders who had just walked past 20 people in line saying "I'm trying to get back to my group" go back to the start of the line, 50+ people back. Fortunately, these groups tend to eat quick service, so you won't find them taking over a table service restaurant.

Beyond the quinceanera girls and the obnoxious cheerleaders, the weather is lovely, in the 70's and low 80's during the day. One trip the day temperature dipped into the 60's for a few days, before rebounding into the 80's. No afternoon rain like in July-August-September. In 60 or more days of first week of February vacations at WDW, I think we had only 3 or 4 days where it rained all day, and maybe 4 or 5 more where it rained at some time during the day for a brief period. Crowds aren't heavy.

Thank you so much for all that great info! I've never been in February and was worried about the weather. I'm going solo this time with my 2 kids and am happy to hear the weather will be nice and the crowds manageable.

Thank you to both of you, guess I'll have to hope that carries over to March.

Thank you for all the great info. My daughter is a very young cheerleader so she will be excited if cheerleaders are there. And this mama has no problem speaking up if someone tries to cut in front of my kiddos. I think I have enough time to learn and teach the family a few key phrases in Portuguese too, haha.

If we get the same release date as last year (the 24th), then that means we are only 9 days away from finding out what will be avail!

Wonder if they will release discounts to Disney Visa card holders first? I don't think a discount for the AKL will be in as high demand as at other resorts though.

Discounts are usually open to Disney Visa card holders about 3-4 days ahead of the general public.
