Do I really have to eat dessert again?! COMPLETE!

I don't think the orange blossom honey is supposed to taste like orange... I think it's just honey made from orange blossom nectar - probably from a specific species of bees that only harvest orange blossom nectar. :-) I can't wait for Garden Grill meal, but good grief that is a LOT of food! Good thing we're not eating much between our Akershus breakfast at 8 AM and this 8:20 PM rezzie.

That makes sense! I'm not a big honey fan at all, so I really don't know very much about it - I just saw orange in the title and expected an orange flavour haha! Like I said, I'm not into fancy food haha. Yeah, you need to prepare for this meal, they place so much food on your table! It was really delicious though, and we can't wait to go back!

i think different honeys do taste differently. orange blossom honey (which is probably local to florida based on how many orange groves are there) probably does have a bit of a delicate citrus flavor however the overwhelming taste of honey is "sweet." I imagine you'd have to have a pretty sensitive palate to pick up different flavors of honey. But then I never taste oak and whatever else is in wine, it's either good or not so good to me lol. I can taste a huge difference in raw local honey vs. refined store bought honey but I can't tell you why. it's just "better."

Loved the GG review! We tried it back in April and loved it and will be dining there for a late lunch next month on our arrival day. Its a win win for us as it has great food and the characters for our son who just turned 2 :)

We checked in for supper and only had to wait a few minutes before we were led to our table at the revolving restaurant Garden Grill!
I've read a lot of good reviews on Garden Grill. I really need to put it on my list. I'm not sure if I would go for breakfast or dinner though. They have a cinnamon bun appetizer for breakfast that looks amazing!

They also brought out a basket of bread with butter that had sea salt and orange blossom honey on it.
Hmm, I have never had butter with anything on it. Sounds interesting.

The platter of sides contained mac and cheese with goldfish crackers, broccoli and sweet potato fries. I gave the mac and cheese a try, but I just don't get the hype about this food at Disney :confused3 - not for me at all.
Now them is fightin' words, Ms. fallonkendra! We will have to agree to disagree on that one. I love any mac and cheese, especially the Disney stuff. Put me in a barrel of it and I'd eat my way out!

Your comment about wine made me laugh! I'm the same way, I'll read the bottle and it'll say all these things about a "finishing note of pear" and "hints of apple" - I drink it and it just tastes like wine haha.

To me, it just tasted like sweet butter with salt added. The flavour was mostly lost to the bread anyways. That said, I can't wait to eat it again on our next trip!

You son must get so excited about the characters! My boyfriend and I were 27 and 33 at that meal, and we loved the characters! Haha. I have a very simple taste in food, so this was right up my alley! It's one of very few places we're duplicating on our upcoming trip :)

I've seen the pictures of breakfast there, and it looks fantastic. I'm just not a very big eater in the mornings, so I don't know how much I would actually eat...

Hmm, I have never had butter with anything on it. Sounds interesting.

It was fancy for me haha. It wasn't bad, but I don't have sensitive enough taste buds to pick up on all of the different flavours. Like I mentioned above, it was just really sweet butter that was a little salty. Once it was smeared on the bread, it didn't taste any different than normal butter...

Now them is fightin' words, Ms. fallonkendra! We will have to agree to disagree on that one. I love any mac and cheese, especially the Disney stuff. Put me in a barrel of it and I'd eat my way out!

I went through a stage where I refused to eat Kraft Dinner, I thought it was the most disgusting thing in the world (and by a stage I mean close to a decade...). All of my friends in university were living off the stuff, and I couldn't do it. I will eat it now every once in awhile, but I'm just really not a big fan of processed cheese. I don't eat cheese slices either... I have made my own mac and cheese with real cheese though, and that's something I can get behind.

Really enjoying your reviews!

Thanks! I might have binge-read your entire dining report today while I was at work... Thank you for making me laugh! I loved your writing style!

I have made my own mac and cheese with real cheese though, and that's something I can get behind.
:thumbsup2 On that we can agree. I hardly touch Kraft Dinner anymore (my girls sometimes have it, but not often). But I do enjoy making mac & cheese from scratch. I prefer it that way, especially with a nice creamy cheese sauce. I guess that's why I like the WDW stuff. I found a couple recipes for the WDW Mac & cheese that claim the stuff they serve in the parks is made with real cheddar cheese, plus some american cheese, but I am a bit suspicious.

Hmm, I definitely don't think any of the ones we tried were made with real cheese. Or maybe they were, and I just don't like cheese sauce? Whenever I make mine, it's just straight up melted cheese haha.

Thank you, that's so sweet! I hope I have the energy for the next one + a trip report! ;)

When are you going back to Disney? You should get a PTR going!

Be Our Guest - January 11th, 2016 - Breakfast

We had a super early wake-up today, our alarm went at 6am so we could catch a bus at 6:30. We got to the Magic Kingdom fairly quickly, and then had to stand around in the cold for awhile. Around 7:30 we were able to go through security, and then after scanning our Magicbands to ensure we actually did have a breakfast ADR, we were let into the park around 7:45am. It was pretty special to walk down a mostly empty Main Street, and to get Photopass pictures like this:

We checked in a few minutes early for our reservation (8:15 reservation, we checked in at 8am and it was no problem at all). We had both pre-ordered, so we were handed a plastic tracking device rose and headed off to find a table. Note: the line wasn't bad at all for people who hadn't pre-ordered, since it was so early in the day.

We had ate in the main ballroom for dinner last week, so we wanted to sit in a different room - and we were able to find a table in the West Wing (it filled up pretty quickly!). We set our rose down, and then went to grab our drinks from the self-serve fountains. We were both cold from standing outside too long, so we both wanted something warm - a coffee for Luke and a hot chocolate for me (no pictures of those, sorry!). We did not have to wait very long before a little cart was rolled over with our food!

We were given a plate of pastries to share, which is included in the cost of your breakfast. It had mini croissants, mini muffins, a danish, etc. I think these were sitting in the fridge before being brought to us, they were really cold! I'm the person who ALWAYS warms up my muffins, scones, croissants, cookies, etc so I did not enjoy these - they would have been a bit better if they were even left at room temperature. Luke ate some of them, but we did not finish the plate. I think I will try to remember to bring ziploc baggies with me next time we eat breakfast here though, I would have shoved them in my purse or backpack and snacked on them later (once they heated up a bit from being in my purse/backpack :lmao:)

Luke ordered the open face bacon and egg sandwich, which is described as: Poached eggs, Applewood smoked bacon, brie cheese and Arugula on a toasted Baguette served with Fresh Fruit. We were there before the price increase, so it was $19.99 (looking at the menu now, I see the price is up to $24.99). According to Luke, his breakfast was really good and he enjoyed it very much. Not much description, but he did eat it all. He drank his coffee, but said it was the same terrible coffee he found everywhere on property (for some reason he didn't go to Starbucks once while we were there, but he did complain about coffee a lot...)

I ordered the Croissant Doughnut which was topped with topped with banana-caramel sauce, pastry creme, and chocolate ganache, also for $19.99. This more than made up for the lackluster pastry plate! I loved this thing, but it was so sweet! It was nice and hot, and the banana-caramel sauce was warm too! The fruit was just basic fruit, but it was fairly fresh and I did eat most of it. It felt good to be putting something healthy into my body for a change, after all the delicious Disney food I had been eating over the past week :rotfl:. I couldn't come close to finishing the entire thing, since it was extremely sweet as a breakfast food, but I will be ordering it again when we go back to BOG in January!

Before leaving, we both grabbed a new cup and filled it with water. The drinks are self-serve here, so you can have as many refills as you'd like. After Luke's terrible coffee and my just-ok hot chocolate it was nice to have some water.

A lot of people dislike the prices of breakfast here. Yes, it is a bit pricey for what it is - but if you are on the dining plan it's a wonderful use of a quick service credit! If paying out of pocket, I would say it's only worth it if you can get one of the coveted early morning reservation times so you can get pictures in front of the Castle with next to no one else. Also worth noting - we left the restaurant at 8:45 (15 minutes before official park open) and the Mine Train was already running! We actually went on it and didn't even have a full train! By 9:15 we had ate breakfast and went on the Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight and Winnie-the-Pooh. To me, that is worth the cost of this breakfast!

We used 2 quick service credits, but it would have cost $39.98 (or $42.38 with tax) if paying out of pocket.

Would we go back for breakfast? Absolutely! We actually have a reservation already made for our January 2017 trip!

Be Our Guest - January 11th, 2016 - Lunch

After a busy morning in Magic Kingdom, we headed to our early lunch reservation - once again at Be Our Guest! That's right, we hit the BOG trifecta of all three meals! The only time I was able to book an ADR was for 11:25, which felt so early...we were still full from our breakfast, but we figured we would find a way to eat :teeth: We checked in pretty much on time, and they were immediately ready for us. We were led across the bridge and into the castle, where we were once again handed a plastic tracking device rose. I was so glad we had pre-ordered our meals, the line of people waiting to order at the kiosks stretched almost half way across the bridge - I'd guess they had at least a half hour wait before they would even be ordering. So pre-order people, especially at lunch!

We decided that since we had sat in the Ballroom for supper, and the West Wing for breakfast, we only had one more room to sit in - the Rose Gallery/music box room (whatever it's actually called). We had no trouble finding an empty table in here, and we sat our tracking device rose down and went to grab drinks - root beer for me and a Coke for Luke ($2.99 each if paying out of pocket).

Within a few minutes, a cart was wheeled over with our food! Luke knew when we pre-ordered that he would be sick of dessert by the time this meal rolled around, so he swapped out his dessert for the french onion soup ($5.69). That thing had so much cheese on it! In the picture, he had already broken through the cheese and ate a few spoonfuls, but you can see how thick that top layer is! I hate onions, but I don't mind the flavour of them (I just won't eat an actual piece of onion - I think it's a texture issue in my head). I did try some of the broth of this soup, and it was really nice! I don't think I had ever tried french onion soup before this though, so I wouldn't call myself an expert on that dish... Luke really enjoyed it, and did eat quite a bit of it.

For his meal, Luke went with the braised pork - slow-cooked pork with vegetables and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beans jardiniere for $14.99. I loved this! I wasn't even hungry, but I did steal more than a few bites of this. The green beans weren't even close to being as good as the ones served at dinner at Be Our Guest, these ones were just standard beans. The potatoes were ok, but the star of the dish was the pork.

I went for the croque monsieur - Grilled sandwich of carved ham, Gruyere cheese, and bechamel with Pommes Frites for $12.99. I did take a bite of this before I remembered to snap a picture - oops! This was good, but I really wish I was a little bit hungrier. The ham was good on this, and the bread was not just white Wonder bread (which is disgusting in my opinion), so that was a win. I'm pretty basic when it comes to my taste in cheese (I don't stray too far from the base cheeses - mozza/cheddar/etc) but this one was good and not too strong (I won't even touch old cheddar, I hate cheese with a strong taste). My only complaint was that there was WAY too much cheese on this. Dairy is thing that sometimes bothers my Crohn's, so I'm always aware of how much I'm eating - in small doses I'm fine. I know that if I had have finished this sandwich, it would have resulted in an uncomfortable afternoon. I did eat half of it and enjoyed it though! The fries served at lunch were different than the ones served at dinner (which as you remember, I did not like at all). These ones though - I loved! As I mentioned earlier in this dining report, I prefer shoestring style fries (like McDonald's style!). I also love pepper, I'm sure you've noticed most of my meals coated in the stuff haha... I did end up putting quite the dent in my pile of fries.

I forgot to take a picture, but I went for the triple chocolate cupcake for dessert - chocolate sponge cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache for $4.59. I took a bite of it, and left it. It was good, but I was so over desserts. I wish I had have followed suit with Luke and ordered soup instead.

I think we both enjoyed lunch here. We couldn't fully enjoy it, since it hadn't really been that long since our breakfast here, and I was getting a little tired of greasy food (I know, that's all on me). Right now we don't have lunch at BOG in our plans for our upcoming trip, but I would not rule it out for other future trips. I think I can say we will be back here at some point (and I'll probably order that pork!)

We used two quick service credits on this meal, which would have cost $44.24 before tax.

i luv it ..thanks.. we have lunch at bog in nov..and my ds has chrohns.. i like yr choices//

Peco's Bills - January 6th, 2016 - Lunch

After the race expo, the first park we headed to on our trip was Magic Kingdom! After our first Fastpass for Splash Mountain, we decided it was time for lunch and decided to give Peco's Bills a try.

After looking over the small menu, we made the decision to share a single meal. We had a supper reservation at Be Our Guest, and we knew we'd be having a large meal there, and we wanted to fully enjoy it without being too full.

From all of my research on the dining plan before we left for our trip, I knew that each quick service credit was good for one entree, one non-alcoholic drink and one dessert. We agreed to go with the build-your-own fajita platter with beef, black beans, cilantro rice, grilled onions/green peppers and three flour tortillas, with a coke and the churro bites and chocolate sauce for dessert.

I was impressed by the "fixin's bar" here, where you could load up on a variety of items to pile on your fajitas. Between us we picked up some shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream, jalapeno peppers, guacamole, banana peppers, hot sauce and pico de gallo. All of these toppings are free with the purchase of a meal, and they really elevated our fajitas!

Three tortillas might not sound like much, but once you pile on your fixin's, meat, grilled veggies, etc, they became difficult to even close! I only ate one, and it was so full of meat, rice, sour cream, salsa and shredded cheese it was messy! I definitely enjoyed it though! Obviously, don't order this expecting the meat to be comparable to a filet mignon from a fancy steakhouse or anything haha.

We were both skeptical of churros - the only ones we'd ever had were hard and dry and gross, but we'd heard so much about Disney churros. After one bite, we realized what all the fuss was about - these were so much better than any churro we'd ever had before! I wasn't crazy over the chocolate sauce these ones were served with, but the churros didn't need them, there was plenty of cinnamon sugar to go around!

It ended up being more than enough food for us to share and hold us over until supper. While we were eating, I noticed a large bird walking around. I'm actually terrified of birds, and this guy walked right up to us with no shame, and stole a mouthful of beef off our tray before we even realized what had happened. I had my phone out just to take a picture of him, he was a couple feet away from us when I started raising my phone up for a picture - this guy was fast! But there you go - the meat is Disney wild-bird approved as well!

Had we paid for this meal ourselves, it would have cost $14.99 for the fajita platter, $4.99 for the churros and $3.69 for the Coke. That's a pretty good use of a quick service credit!

Are you KIDDING me with that bird??? Crazy!

Love your report! I have to be very careful with food choices when I'm out and about, and it's no fun. Seems like a great trip - can't wait to read more!

My goodness! That is a huge amount of food! That's the only downside to traveling solo. I cannot eat all of that! Also, the birds at Disney World are crazy! One jumped on my table and ate some of my Tonga Toast!

Tusker House - January 7th, 2016 - Lunch

On this morning, we didn't eat breakfast - we just snacked on a few of the things we had ordered from Amazon and had shipped to our hotel. Our first meal of the day was supposed to be at Tusker House at 1:10pm, however after going on a few rides I was not feeling very good. We decided to head over to the restaurant to see if we could get in early, and they were able to seat us around 12:30.

I was so excited to eat here - it was our first character meal of the trip! I quickly ordered a glass of water, and headed straight to the buffet. I really wasn't feeling good, so my main focus was on getting something into my body - therefore there are no pictures of our first plates of food. I do know that my first plate was mainly salad, and it wasn't even close to being a full plate.

We did not have to wait long before the first character approached our table - I had already drank an entire glass of water by this point so I was feeling slightly better (nothing, not even my Crohn's was going to stop me from getting pictures with the characters!).

I ended up going back to the buffet two more times for food, and I actually remembered to take a picture of one of them:

Starting at the top center and going right, that's mashed potatoes and gravy, caesar salad, plantains, some kind of bread, a potato and pea samosa, basmati rice and carved pork (I think it's the Kenyan BBQ pork if you look at the sauce between the rice and meat). As I mentioned before, I'm not an overly adventurous eater so my plate looks a little boring. There are so many options here, so both picky eaters (like me) and adventurous eaters (like Luke) can find a ton of things to satisfy! I know I had green beans from the kid's section at one point, and more of the carved meat options.

When I went up for dessert, I couldn't decide on what I wanted, so I think I grabbed a full plate and then split everything with Luke.

Again, starting at the top in the center and going right, I want to say it was some kind of lemon bread?, pecan chocolate squre, fruit tart, coconut macaroon, chocolate brownie, and two other types of squares (I don't remember exactly what they were). Luke ate the bread and the fruit tart. We split everything else. The pecan chocolate thing was so good, it was chewy and dense and just all around amazing. I'm a big fan of coconut macaroons, and this one did not disappoint. Everything else was good, but forgettable.

There were 4 characters in total who visited our table during our meal, all of whom were dressed in Safari outfits - Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. Since the restaurant was not even close to being full, we ended up seeing a couple of the characters 2 or 3 times.

I somehow missed getting a picture with Goofy... At one point during the meal, Goofy actually came into the room where we were and tried to gather all of the kids to join him in a little parade, clapping their hands and dancing around the room. There were only like 3 kids who actually went up, and Luke felt bad, so he went and joined them. He followed Goofy around the room twice clapping his hands and laughing. It was really cute!

The food was amazing here, Luke is still talking about it and it is already on our wishlist of ADR's for our next trip to WDW in January 2017. I managed to eat a lot of food, but I still was not feeling well at all. I actually had to make 3 trips to the bathroom during our meal :( Stupid Crohn's :(

After scanning our magic bands for a table service credit each, and paying the tip out of pocket we left. If we were paying out of pocket, it would have cost $41.99/each or $89.44 for both of us after tax (before tip).

The theming of this restaurant is incredible! The main area where the buffet is located is set up to look like an open air market, the Safari gear costumes the characters wear are adorable and there are so many tiny details throughout the entire building tying it all together. I wish I wasn't so sick that day, otherwise I would have taken more pictures! There's always next time :)

I absolutely love Tusker. It's a character meal that doesn't feel too much like a character meal. It's a shame you missed Goofy! I had one of my best character interactions ever with him. He sat down at my table!

Sorry I haven't been updating much lately, I was on vacation for two weeks in my hometown, where the internet connection isn't the greatest... but now that I'm back in Alberta it's time to get back to it!

Intermission Food Court - January 7 - Supper

After eating at Tusker House, I really wanted to push forward with our day, but I was really sick. I realized I would not be able to make it to our planned supper reservation (and even if I did, I would not enjoy myself at all) so I sadly had to call to cancel our ADR for 1900 Park Fare . Since we had every day of our trip planned with ADR's, there was no time slots that worked with our schedule to try and get back to it, I was really sad about that.

After sadly spending the better part of the next hour in the washroom feeling really sick, we decided to call it a day and head back to our hotel. We arrived back to our hotel around 3:15pm. I immediately crawled into bed but was in too much discomfort to fall asleep right away. Luke decided he should try for a nap as well, since we knew we had a very early morning the next day for the 10km race. I eventually did fall asleep, and we both napped until a little after 6pm. After waking up I was feeling a bit better, but definitely not 100% and I knew I didn't want to go too far to get supper, so we decided to just eat at Intermission Food Court at All Star Music.

Luke does not like carb-loading the night before a race like a lot of people do, he prefers to just try and have a healthyish meal (no deep fried things). He chose the pot roast with green beans and mashed potatoes ($10.49). Since we were on the dining plan, he also grabbed a chocolate dipped Mickey rice krispie ($4.49) and some milk ($2.49). He really liked his meal (although he had a better pot roast the next day), but overall he was pleased with the food for the cost, especially since this was a "food court" meal.

I went for the turkey with green beans and mashed potatoes ($11.99), with a bottle of Coke ($2.99) and a chocolate muffin ($3.99). I was really impressed by this, the turkey was actually carved when I ordered it so it was still nice and moist and not all dried out from sitting under a heat lamp for hours. It was one of those all white meat turkey breats, not the entire turkey, but it was quite tasty! The mashed potatoes were good, the gravy had flavour to it and the green beans were fairly standard (and nothing will compare to those green beans from BOG!). Overall, another great option from Intermission Food Court (I assumed 3 star hotel, 3 star food but that was not the case!). Also yes, I really like pepper haha.

We used 1 quick service credit each for this meal. We had brought our refillable mugs with us, so I saved my bottle of Coke for later in the trip, and just drank water. The muffin I also saved, and ate for breakfast the next morning (breakfast of Champions, am I right?!). If we were paying out of pocket, the cost would have been $36.44 + tax, so not a terrible use of 2 quick service credits in my opinion.

Luke also picked up a yogurt parfait ($5.49) to eat the next morning before his race, and used a snack credit for it - so a really great use of one of those!

After eating I did feel a bit better, but we decided to call it an early night and we were both asleep again by 9pm - ready for a SUPER early morning wakeup the next day.

POR has that turkey too. It's my go-to pre-race dinner!

Glad your enjoying yourself so far :)

Thanks! It was a great trip!

i luv it ..thanks.. we have lunch at bog in nov..and my ds has chrohns.. i like yr choices//

Enjoy your lunch at BOG! It's a beautiful restaurant! I highly suggest ordering ahead of time if you haven't already!

Are you KIDDING me with that bird??? Crazy!

Love your report! I have to be very careful with food choices when I'm out and about, and it's no fun. Seems like a great trip - can't wait to read more!

Yeah, that bird was insane!

My next post will be up shortly, thanks so much for reading along!

I'm here and caught up! Loving your report :flower3:

Thanks Mindi! I love your reports, I feel honoured that you're reading mine

We are huge fans of the lunch and I almost always get the pork and the french onion soup. I could just go there and have soup and be content. My DH has had the croque before and it is heavy on the cheese I must admit. BOG for breakfast looks lovely and you are right it is an excellent use of a QS credit. We are returning to BOG on Thursday for lunch and I cannot wait!!

When/if we ever go back for lunch, I know I'll be going for the pork! The sandwich was good, but just way too much cheese!

I'm looking forward to reading about your latest trip and how your BOG lunch was!

My goodness! That is a huge amount of food! That's the only downside to traveling solo. I cannot eat all of that! Also, the birds at Disney World are crazy! One jumped on my table and ate some of my Tonga Toast!

You get so much food with one meal at Peco's Bills! There's no way I could eat it all by myself! We have plans to go back there again on our next trip, and I'd bet we end up sharing a meal again.

I absolutely love Tusker. It's a character meal that doesn't feel too much like a character meal. It's a shame you missed Goofy! I had one of my best character interactions ever with him. He sat down at my table!

Tusker House was one of our favourites, even with me being sick. Goofy definitely stopped by our table, but I must not have been feeling great at that point since I didn't get a picture with him.

POR has that turkey too. It's my go-to pre-race dinner!

Good to know! It was soooo good for the price!
