Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant/Dining Help Thread

**Edited to add - I was incorrect. The products are Gardein, not Quorn.

Hi CarrieR - I'm glad you mentioned the mushroom allergy because the Quorn products they seem to be offering more and more at WDW are micoprotein, which I believe is mushroom.

I'm super glad I'm not the only one who has noticed the decline in vegetarian protein options. We stayed offsite this trip and although we mostly ate at the parks, I think I ended up with the best balanced diet I've had at WDW in a long time.

I also have a mushroom allergy, and that seems to be getting increasingly harder to avoid. Pop in particular has mushroom in every one of its veg dishes (save cheese pizza.)

Yes! I know. I didn't realize they had quorn - they'd always had Morningstar before when I checked. Boo!

My mushroom allergy *might* be okay with the micoprotein... But I don't know and I'm not in a hurry to find out. (GI anaphylaxis- not highly recommended!)

At BOG our friend, who is vegan, asked for an adult portion of oatmeal and fruit, with which they also brought a vegan pastry.

For lunch, they have a quinoa salad that is fantastic! I'm excited to have it again in December!

Columbia Harbour House has a really yummy sandwich with hummus and vegetables. It was really good!

Tanegerine Cafe has an awesome "vegetarian" plate, which is actually vegan.

Coral Reef has a chik'n meal, that is vegan and wonderful!

Tucker House, Boma and Sanaa have lots of choices for vegans. I loved eating at Mara as the chefs would fix me a vegan meal with selections from Boma, yum!!

Whispering Canyon Cafe has Skillet fired red quinoa cakes with vegan sides.

Mr. Kamals in AK has vegan choices, Restaurantasauras has a black bean burger, but I'm not sure if it's vegan.

HS was tough for me. I would most likely eat at Mama Melrose and have spaghetti with marinara, or 50's and have a plain Caesar salad and onion rings.

Most of the restaurants and resort restaurants have a vegetarian dish that can be vegan so there are tons of choices!!!

I'm curious what you ate at Boma. We were there recently and were very disappointed. It used to be one of our favorites but there was no hot vegetarian entree on the buffet this time around other than soup. They used to have things like matar paneer or tofu and green beans but this time, nothing! Our server asked one of the chefs to come to our table and he offered to fix us a curried tofu and vegetable dish and it was good but it was the first time in a long time that we couldn't get a hot meal there without asking to talk to a chef. Based on our conversation with the chef, Boma no longer offers a hot vegetarian entree on the buffet. They have other good things but it's not as good for vegetarians as it used to be.

I'd recommend following @vegandisneyworld on Instagram. She has great food pics and is in the world a lot. She just posted a vegan Italian Veggie Sausage sandwich from BB Wolfs in Disney Springs.

Does Tusker House still have hot vegetarian entrees on their Lunch and Dinner buffets?

You'll want to get the lighthouse sandwich at Columbia Harbour House without the broccoli slaw because the slaw is not vegan.

Here is Marinated Grilled Vegetables and Vegetarian Chick'n Breast - with black rice, pine nuts, and roasted tomato vinaigrette $20

Has anybody been to San Angel inn recently or La Hacienda? I have never been to either but I am trying to figure out what they currently offer that is vegetarian. I found an old menu online for one but there doesn't seem to be much current info out there.

We ate at San Angel Inn in May. They didn't have a printed vegetarian menu like they did the last time we were there. The server went over our options: 1) a salad option (sorry, I don't remember the details) 2) cheese enchiladas or 3) a flour tortilla with black beans, sautéed veggies and some cheese. We have enjoyed the black bean and veggie option in the past so we chose that. It was presented differently from what we had in the past (it seemed smaller and had more cheese on it than I remembered) but it tasted the same. It was $18 per person, overpriced for the amount of food, but it was tasty.

That looks great! How did it taste? Was this lunch or dinner (or both ) ?

I thought I was going to miss the risotto they usually serve there, but I didn't. It was actually really great! It was a "meatloaf" type of protein. We liked it a lot. Not a piece of it was left. We didn't eat the sweet potato fries - they were dry. My daughter loves rice, so she devoured that. We were scraping up the potatoes and asked for an additional side of gravy.

We will be eating Breakfast at BOG this upcoming trip, for the first time.
I was wondering if I can ask for the meat to be left off of my plate?
I eat Eggs & cheese but can't eat meat because of a food allergy.
How do you order (no meat) on the touch screen or do you have to order from a Real person?
Anyone have success doing that, otherwise my choices are very limited.
thanks

Hi! Many of the restaurants will offer the Quorn "chicken" products which are vegan. I've found this at several different restaurants when we were there the end of April - much better selections than our previous trip a year prior. Places that have veggie burgers should also have vegan versions if it is not the menu standard. Coral Reef, Jiko, Garden Grill, Tangerine Cafe, Be Our Guest, and more -- we have many favorites. Although not fully vegan, I opt for those choices when they are there. Otherwise, I'll do ovo-lacto vegetarian. Been doing the Disney veggie thing for about 15 years now.

Hi can you tell me which restaurants have the Quorn chicken?

Are all Quorn "Chicken" products vegan in the US then? I'm from the UK and we only have separately marked hot n spicy burgers, fillets and chicken pieces here. If I saw Quorn advertised I would just assume it had egg in it.

Actually, no, they are not all vegan. Where I live in Texas, I have never even seen any vegan Quorn products at all. All we have around here are the ones with egg in them. As far as I know though, it is actually Gardein that is used at places like Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, and Gardein products are all vegan.

I'd love some reviews of The Plaza. We made lunch res there because of some reviews I found online from a couple of years ago.

If anyone has been there recently, please share. Thanks!

That is such disappointing news! We have had Boma on our list for ages and are finally set to eat there for our next trip.
