Dreams will come true! Hearts will soar! May 2016 TR *NEW 7/6 x2!*

Sounds like a great travel day. Glad things went smoothly and the boys were good on the flight.

Yay for arrival! :cool1:

I'm always grateful for a travel day free of craziness or delays! And arrival feels so good! So much excitement driving under those signs!

Joining in. Can't wait to read more!!

Thanks for joining in!

Glad travel day went smoothly! I love all the pics of the boys on the plane, so cute!

It makes the start of the trip so much nicer with no chaos on travel day! And I feel like the boys are expert fliers now. They've flown a total of 8 times now which took me until I was 25 to do...and they are all under 6 years old. :rotfl:

I am jumping on board!
Can't wait for the next segment!

Thanks for following along! :earsboy:

I really do enjoy reading everyone's travel days, especially those travelling with kids. It's always good to get some ideas, and see what everyone else does! Sounds like you're off to a good start!

It is really nice to get ideas! I read a TR where a family packed lunch for their kids on the plane. I never would have thought of that. I stepped up my food packing game then and it makes it so much easier and cheaper on the flight! :thumbsup2

You pretty much just described my entire life goals.

I'm in!!
Looks like smooth sailing so far for travel day!!

Thanks for joining in! Smooth travel days are such a nice way to start a trip!

And I see we having matching TR titles from your signature. FOF is pretty much my favorite thing ever! I don't think I go a single day without that song running through my head at some point.

I've been reading all your trip reports because of your little guy and getting ideas for taking my son. We went when he was 7 weeks old. He has just taken his 8th flight and he's only 11 MONTHS old!

Isn't it crazy how well traveled our kids are? They are total expert fliers. My first flight was when I was 9...to Disney of course!

I'm here I'm here! So I've been a little behind but I am so excited to read about your trip! :thumbsup2 (I'm still wrapping up my December trip)!

Success on a travel day is always a plus! Can't wait to hear about he wilderness lodge and AKL (interested to see how the buses are hopefully you'll comment on it :rolleyes1)

Oops fell behind for a second :) Glad your travel day went smoothly!! I always like seeing how other people's travels start out!!! Excited to see how you like your room and resort!

Glad you're following along! And my last TR is only done because I felt the pressure since this one was coming up!!

I'll be sure to mention the bus service at both. Spoiler - 100% awesome and no real issues at either!

My life is always behind so no worries!

And yes, so happy we had a travel day free of any chaos or delays. It's always a good way to start a trip!

At least the room is pretty!

We last left off with us pulling into the first resort of our stay and our first ever Deluxe - Wilderness Lodge!

We walked into the lobby and it was every bit a beautiful and serene as I imagined!

I loved the themeing of the lobby - the totem poles, wooden beams, dark colors. It is so large and open - very different feel than the lobbies at AOA and Pop.

We saw Whispering Canyon off to the side. I tried to get an ADR here but being that I made the switch to Wilderness Lodge at 28 days, there were no openings at decent times. Someday!

Since I had gotten the text with our room number, we headed straight upstairs - Room 3016! I will say one of the biggest pains was that the main elevators were closed due to the refurbishment. So we had to take a long hallway down and around in order to access the elevators up to our room. It was only for 1 night but it would be a bit more trouble during a longer stay. But upward we went! And we saw this cute little guy on the elevator, holding up the railing.

And then finally to our room!

Because a picture of your room number is necessary.

I opened the door and was pleasantly surprised to see a set of bunk beds! We had booked a standard room (2 queens or 1 king) so this was a tiny bit of an upgrade! And the boys were thrilled!

The rest of the room was just beautiful! I loved the details in the decor and fixtures.

That bed was INSANELY comfortable too!

The little kitchen and bathroom area was nice as well.

I loved these little guys in the shower!

While the boys were exploring the room, I noticed these cute little pins on the entertainment stand.

Hmm...what could our view be like?

Womp, womp.

I was slightly disappointed that the view was really construction only. I knew that Wilderness Lodge was under serious refurb but it was all mud and dirt! But in all honestly, it really didn't matter or impact our vacation at all. Since we were only in the room to sleep, we didn't miss having a nice view. On a longer trip, I may have minded the lackluster view from our balcony. But for our one night visit, it worked out just fine...especially the view from our room that night!

Food first, then bridge!

We were all starving at this point since it had been hours since our last real meal. We changed into swim stuff that we had packed in our carry ons and headed down to find some lunch at the Roaring Fork!

The setup here is a bit different than food courts at other resorts we have visited. You order and pay at the register, they give you a number for your table, and then a CM brings your tray to your table. It was definitely nice to not have to stand around and wait for our food.

We were waiting as patiently as possible for our food. It was 2:30 at this point and we had not eaten a real meal all day!

Here are some views of the dining room and the food service area.

And then finally...FOOD!

[URL=http://s1371.photobucket.com/user/jwinfield3/media/GIFs/pooheat_zpsvuego8zj.gif.html]

Jim ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, I got the Tomato Basil Flatbread, Nate got the Kids Chicken Nuggets with applesauce and apple slices, Colin got the Kids Hot Dog with applesauce and apple slices, and Jake went with an Uncrustable with yogurt and applesauce. I only managed to get a picture of my flatbread. The rest of the animals began devouring their food immediately!

Once we were all satisfied, the boys had one thing on their mind - exploring that bridge in the lobby! So off we went!

What is it about bridges that are so fascinating?

[url=https://flic.kr/p/HcyAJr]

A nice family offered to take our picture, so we said yes. Our first family picture of the trip!

There was more of the lobby left to see, so off we went! I loved this totem pole right outside the gift shop. Such a fun way to add some Disney into the Wilderness!

And Nate loves making silly faces!

The details in the decor and fixtures in the lobby were really amazing. I loved looking at the lighting!

We explored the lobby a bit more. This fireplaces looks like it would be a wonderful place to sit on a rainy day!

And the boys liked this little train car. Too bad they couldn't climb on it, according to Nate!

Once we had our fill of exploring the lobby, we were off in search of the pool! We were finally in warm, sunny Florida and we needed some sunshine and splashing!

Love driving through these gates! Glad travel day went smoothly! Can't wait to read more!

We loved Wilderness Lodge! It definitely felt more like a "home" versus a resort. And I'm always grateful for an easy travel day - a nice start to a trip!

The resort is beautiful...the view, not so much. Glad we decided to go with something else. Maybe one day I'll get to stay there...when there is no construction!

We actually could June 2017...and it's tempting as close as it is to MK. Hmmm...have I now added another to the short list that seems to be getting longer?? :)

Looking forward to more!

Out of the 9 nights we stayed at WL we didn't ever eat here, but when we went this past fall I had to try it. It is one of my favorite TS now!

I lived on the flatbread pizza the whole time we were there. I just love them!

Don't you just love WL? I'm sure that the construction view was a bit disappointing but at least it was only one night and I'm sure the beauty of the rest of the resort made up for it!

The room looks beautiful! And I love the pins they gave you, how adorable.

Glad you were able to get some food right away!

Love the family photo!

Isn't WL beautiful?! I stayed there so long ago, but I still remember how gorgeous it was inside. And we rented those little boats and would drive them past MK - so much fun!!

Stinks that your view was of mud, thankfully you were only there one night and didn't have to look at it all week! But it's nice that they gave you a little something to make up for it!

Can't wait to read more :)
