Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

People cancel all the time so keep checking. But, be prepared and have a Plan B as things have definitely changed in 10 years.

New here, so I hope I'm doing this right! We have not been to WDW for almost 10 years. Last time we stayed at the Grand Floridian, and we had hoped, if we ever came back, to stay at the Polynesian. We will be in Florida in October, are looking to book for October 15-19, and there is nothing available except club level. The last time we visited, it was the exact same time of year, and could have reserved any type of room at virtually any of the resorts. At any rate, my question is, is there any chance of people releasing/us getting a regular room at the Poly, or am I just wasting my time looking every day? Any advice?
For dates near that time, I had to go through a reseller.

I would keep trying every day online. I'm sure something will open up. I've never not been able to find something. And you have 5+ months!

10 more days until our first stay at the Poly!! I'm very excited!

Hope you have a great trip! :goodvibes

I just booked our Oct trip to stay at the Poly and can't wait. :D

It will be Oct before you know it ::yes::.

OMG!!!!! After three weeks of nonstop reading I finally managed to read every post on this thread and get caught up!!!! PHEEWWWW!!!! So, after all that my first question is..... For my upcoming trip, which longhouse should I recommend???? :jester:

JKJKJK!!! Super thanks to everybody who contributed, especially MaiaPapaya and Tikiman :hippie:

My family recently decided to take the plunge and join DVC and we are super excited about making Poly our home resort. We can't wait until our anniversary trip there in November! I actually wrote recent post about why I chose to buy into PVB if anybody is interested:

For now I just wanted to say thanks to all and say I am looking forward to following this thread in the future :)

Congrats on your DVC purchase! I hope you have a great trip in November :wizard:.

No worries. I'm an over the top planner, but I'll be okay if I end up in a building covered in scaffolding. We will just peek out through the scaffolding to see the fireworks. :)

I agree with johnsonet. If you aren't happy with the room/longhouse you're assigned, you can always ask if there is something else available. It's not guaranteed you will be moved, but they will do everything they can to accommodate you ;).

i'll be arriving at the poly May 30. Non-club level lagoon view, so my building choices will be their same as yours (Aotearoa or Tuvalu). I'll try to report on the building status when I arrive.

Hope you have a great time :goodvibes.

As others have said, keep checking as availability can change and a standard room might become available for your dates :).

That's not to say they won't be doing something to Tuvalu (if that's where you're placed). But this was the scene mid-July of 2015. (I sent this to @Tikiman at the time.)

I stayed in Tuvalu September 2015. That definitely was not there during our stay!

I know this is in this thread somewhere because I did read it (!) but where is the laundry located for standard rooms and how much is it per load? Is it still credit card or can you now use magic bands? I know there was some discussion about people hoping it would go that way.

It's near the bus stop. Yes, you can use credit card but I don't know about using MBs.

Check out Post #11

I understand that tikiman is no longer providing contruction information, but can somebody please tell me which longhouse(s) currently have scaffolding?
TIA

Hello all! New to posting on DIS Boards, but I have been stalking and using all the great info for many, many years(thanks so much:)!!
My situation is this:
Currently booked at BC for 9/5-9/11.
I am thinking of switching to Poly:)
I do not know why. We have never stayed there.
Should I switch?
We are a party of 4, possibly 5. Myself, DH, DS(9), DD(2), and possibly DD(16).
I would like to hear opinions about the pool, rooms, room locations, transportation, and quick service at Poly.
TIA!!

If no one answers sooner, I'll post next weekend if there's any scaffolding.

Question about transportation from the Poly. If I want to be at MK for RD will the resort launch or the monorail get me there on time? In different locations I've see that they start running either 45 mins or half an hour before park open which doesn't seem like enough time to me with the enhanced screening and bag check. Also, any suggestions on who to ask about the monorail? It looks like it might still be on modified service (although I'm not seeing that officially) and I've seen posts suggesting that resort CMs often don't know and will give you incorrect info. Where does one go to get accurate day by day monorail schedule info?
