Thanks so much -- makes sense!!

Thanks so much for offering, @Mommy2TwoMickeys!!!!! I think my main question right now was around whether it made sense to place any request re: location on the reservation. Sounds from @Tikiman's post like there's probably not much of a reason to do this. I am CERTAIN that as I get closer to Nov, I'll have more questions.

A couple for now...
  • How much of a walk is it to get to the monorail from the bungalows? Is it much farther than from the other rooms? I have only one point of reference from a time my sister stayed at Poly.
  • We will be 5 people in the room: Dh and I, our two kids, and my sister. Trying to figure out what the best sleeping arrangement might be given pull-down beds and such that are not in the rooms we normally stay in. Any suggestions??

Depending on what bungalows are in the system and available it can be quiet a walk because you need to walk the boardwalk to the nearest gate and then walk across the resort. We are still talking a less than 7 minute walk to the lobby but some are closer than others as you can see from the map.

I would say you two take the master bedroom, let your sister have the second bedroom and put the kids in the living room. We had my son (10) on the fold down bed under the TV (he loved it) and my daughter (3) took the fold out couch. Only problem was the big shades that come down to black out the living room had to be raised to use the slider to the back deck. Lucky for me I was in the master so I could go out the side door to go sit and enjoy the deck without waking anyone.

10 more days until our first stay at the Poly!! I'm very excited!

And now I'm at the 10 day mark, I can start obsessing over the weather (yes, I know, the forecast is in no way accurate this far out ... I just can't help myself).

One question. I'm realizing my 7DMT FP on our last day is pretty tight with getting to our Magical Express for our return flight. So anyone remember how far from their flight time was their scheduled ME pickup? And for our arrival day, how many other resorts does it stop at before Poly?
ME picks you up 3 hours from your flight time.

Question about ongoing construction on longhouses: We will be at the Poly (for the first time--so excited) June 8-16. We've booked TPV, non-CL. I've requested Tuvalu, 3rd floor. Should I have concerns about any longhouse construction on Tuvalu in particular for our dates? I've actually read this whole thread now (it is incredibly helpful--thank you so much to all who contribute), and I saw some info on which longhouses they started on, but I haven't seen anything on where they are now or where they are expected to be on our dates.

Thanks!

Disney has not given a schedule for what longhouse will be next or when. Until we see the work start there is no indication of what will be happening.

OMG!!!!! After three weeks of nonstop reading I finally managed to read every post on this thread and get caught up!!!! PHEEWWWW!!!! So, after all that my first question is..... For my upcoming trip, which longhouse should I request???? :jester:

JKJKJK!!! Super thanks to everybody who contributed, especially MaiaPapaya and Tikiman :hippie:

My family recently decided to take the plunge and join DVC and we are super excited about making Poly our home resort. We can't wait until our anniversary trip there in November! I actually wrote recent post about why I chose to buy into PVB if anybody is interested:

For now I just wanted to say thanks to all and say I am looking forward to following this thread in the future :)

Well, there was scaffolding across the lagoon side of Tuvalu when I was there last July. Hopefully they're done with it by now ;)

Oooh. Good news. I hadn't realized they'd hit Tuvalu. I may start a happy dance.:cool1:

That's not to say they won't be doing something to Tuvalu (if that's where you're placed). But this was the scene mid-July of 2015. (I sent this to @Tikiman at the time.)

The Tuvalu construction in July was different than the effort to redo the supports. As far as I know the only longhouses to have the supports redone are Samoa, Niue, Rarotonga and the garden side of Hawaii. The rest have not been done.

So where are they now? Any one know?

I guess I have until 10 days out to change my request to Aotearoa. I will keep watching for more info!
You can also try and switch at check-in. I've done that several times over the years at various resorts, if I've been put somewhere and want something else. If you're nice and just talk to them it can definitely work out. Try not to worry.

No worries. I'm an over the top planner, but I'll be okay if I end up in a building covered in scaffolding. We will just peek out through the scaffolding to see the fireworks. :)

i'll be arriving at the poly May 30. Non-club level lagoon view, so my building choices will be their same as yours (Aotearoa or Tuvalu). I'll try to report on the building status when I arrive.

New here, so I hope I'm doing this right! We have not been to WDW for almost 10 years. Last time we stayed at the Grand Floridian, and we had hoped, if we ever came back, to stay at the Polynesian. We will be in Florida in October, are looking to book for October 15-19, and there is nothing available except club level. The last time we visited, it was the exact same time of year, and could have reserved any type of room at virtually any of the resorts. At any rate, my question is, is there any chance of people releasing/us getting a regular room at the Poly, or am I just wasting my time looking every day? Any advice?
