Hi! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to celebrate my college graduation in May. The online system shows Main Building Deluxe King rooms are available, but how do we choose a jacuzzi room instead of the octagon rooms?

Also, I can't figure out what RPC is... clue me in, please?

Thanks!

Royal Palm Club (RPC) it's the name for the Main building Club Level. In order to request the Jacuzzi room you can call reservations or email a request to IPO at grand.floridian.itinerary.planning@disneyworld.com
The octagon rooms are much bigger in my opinion, but either would be amazing :) Congrats on your graduation!

Our reservations are for 5:40 pm, so we won't be there for Wishes. :)

I think we will definitely go over to the marina or boat dock to check out the fireworks though!

I think if you already ate at Narcoossee's they will let you back on the deck later for fireworks, and they play the soundtrack. But the boat dock has a similar view. And the area in front of Gasparilla's had a good view and plenty of space. You can't see much from the courtyard pool.

I was just there the beginning of February and experienced no monorail problems. If I remember correctly we did have to take the boat from MK back to the GF during the day on Thursday but other than that there was no issue -- and we prefer taking the boat back anyhow--kind of like our last ride of that day.

Tom
Isn't the boat back from MK faster anyway vs the monorail? The monorail goes Contemp - Poly - TTC - GF right?

And of course I forgot our room number...second floor I think it was 19 or 21, we had two rooms. My apologies. We could see the monorail, and during wishes actually see some of it while leaning to the left :)

Just booked the villas for late January 2017 and saw this message on the DVC booking site:

Anyone know what this special event is?

No clue about the special event...but thanks for sharing the info here...:goodvibes

I posted this on the CL thread, and thought I should post here too: Our first CL stay will be this summer at GF Sugarloaf. So excited! Has anyone had any experience getting family portraits done by Disney Photography at GF. Saw it as an option in the email from IPO. Thoughts?

We have done the family portraits...a few years ago...and were very pleased with the outcome...they set up a time to meet...and travel around the property for pics...def worth the it...:thumbsup2

Since you are getting in late, I am pretty sure you will check in at the Main GF Lobby.

Magical Express stops picking up luggage at 10:00PM. You will need to go get your own luggage and bring it to the Magical Express Bus. Bell Services at the GF will help you bring your luggage to your room right then and there. No waiting.

dansdad As always lots of good info! :goodvibes

Only 58 days until we get off of the Disney Dream and head over to the Grand!!! We are very excited for our 1st GF stay!!! Our first night there, we are planning on dinner at Narcoosee's and then pool time at night. Can you see any fireworks from the pool at all?

You can see just the high fireworks from the pool....still very nice...what a nice first night.. dinner at Narcoosees is a grand way to begin your first GF stay...::yes:: ...I see you are sticking with the GF ...so far! ;)

I'm not sure that you see more than the very high fireworks from the Courtyard pool. I have the feeling much of the display is blocked by trees and buildings. I may be completely wrong here as it's been a long time since we swam that late in the Courtyard. You do get a good view from Narcoossee's, especially from their verandah. The marina and boat dock have pretty decent views of fireworks, too.

I agree follow ...I think that the boat dock is particularly nice..since you can hear the music piped in at Narcoosees...:boat:

So I may have booked 3 nights RPC for the end of July :) Let's see if they can hold a candle to our December SL stay :) We are doing a split with BWI CL, my DH isn't thrilled but he'll get over it WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Back to the Grand for this Grand Groupie

Let me say congrats ..again!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: lol...Gonna be a fun split....YOu know that you inspired me...once again...and we are doing a GF Ply split...."needed" t get just a bit of a grand fix into the itinerary....:goodvibes

ETA..great pic...love the view! very tranquil....:lovestruc

Yayyy! I just saw your post on the CL thread! My DH isn't thrilled about our upcoming RPC stay (he's a Poly CL lover), so the RPC food needs to be really good :). My girls and I, on the other hand, are very excited to try RPC!

Lots of nice food options...particularly afternoon tea..well really the scones..clotted cream..trifle...and raspberry tarts! Yum!

Yes boat is always faster for a return to the resort....and a nice ride at that!

~Read on Kenny the Pirate that there will now be a wishes dessert party offered right at the GF...at Narcoosees...not sure of any of the specifics....(think that it might be in a trial phase some time soon)....lol..just that and its$59 per person...and will begin 30 prior to the fireworks....I like the prospect of enjoying an event like this away from the MK crowds...and think we might try it on our up coming trip if available..Keep you all posted...

Hoping that all of my fellow GF fans are having a terrific Thursday...:earsgirl: resort changing GF gal...lol...

Not necessarily. One day I was getting tired and was ready to leave, but she(daughter) wanted to look some more in the Emporium on Main St. So I left to go back to Poly. I took the boat, my preferred way to get back to Poly or GF. She left a bit later and took monorail. She beat me back by a couple of minutes, leaving MK later

But don't care!! I still prefer the boat! It's all about timing I guess.

Thanks to follow there are more details right here on the thread...:thumbsup2

Hi all! What bldg should i request for the best garden views?

Two suggestions from me...1) take a look at the map on page one of this thread..it shows you where each outer building is located on the property..which by the way is relatively small and easy to navigate...only you know what your family preference would be..close to pool..marina view (which is considered GV at the GF)..close to dock etc ..2) my personal recommendation is Boca Chica..which has a lovely courtyard pool view.. and is close to the boat dock... HTH..

I was kinda surprised to see my daughter arriving before me when I had a head start, I must admit. Lol.

What are some of your suggestions for room requests in the sugar loaf building? Thanks!

What are some of your priorities for a room? That might help people make suggestions - do you want a view, a quiet room, certain beds (2 queens versus king), etc?
