Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We just booked POP for July and it will be our first time at this resort. Our friends are also going and staying at POP for the same dates. We did not book at the same time and I booked online and they booked via phone. Is it too late to request that we get rooms as close together as possible? If not, what would be the best way to do this? We booked preferred rooms. Should we make any other requests?
 
Also, How does the room only affect my selection of magic bands and the luggage tags that will be coming with my DME ressie?? I picked a yellow magic band for my room only stay and a red one for my re-check-in at POP on the 5th, so will my luggage tags be the yellow ones or red ones??

The luggage tags are amenities with Walt Disney Travel Company packages, so I think you'll get a coordinated reg luggage tag to go with the red Magic Band from your package reservation.
 
Can I pay off my room balance with Disney gift cards at check in? Or before I leave home?

Do the rooms have irons & boards or do I need to request? Anything else I need to request?

Then I pay off my trip before I leave. On the last night of my trip I go to the front desk and pay off any room charges with my gift card.

Even though you booked online you can still Call and talk to a CM regarding your reservation. I would call and link your reservations. You will need both reservation numbers. Tell them you are travelling together and want them linked and that you would like adjoining or connecting rooms. Adjoining means you will be near or next to one another. Connecting means you will have rooms with an interior connecting door. So be sure to use the correct term with them because they are not interchangeable. Also, have them note the request on both reservations.
Also I wouldn't do online checkin for either of you and I would try to not make other requests. The more requests you make the harder it will become for them to put you two together. July is a busy month there.
 
According to the check-in packet in our room, bed linens are changed every 4 days. Is day 1 the day you check in? In other words, if we check in on Tuesday, will our linens be changed on Friday or Saturday?

One hopes!!! I have noticed they have gotten a little lax on this!! I call and remind them that I want fresh sheets and I "mark" mine so I can tell if they have been changed!!! ;)
 
Does anybody have a picture of the new pool fences? I heard that all of the pools are gated now. Are the tables inside the fence?
 
All the tables by the pool are now outside the fence with an exception of maybe four tables. We sat at one yesterday within the pool gates that had a sign on it saying it was reserved after 6PM for the nightly movie.
 
We had a bad experience with Pop again this trip. For the third trip in a row we did not receive a text telling us our room #. This was a really short trip so on our arrival day we didn't get back to the resort until after fireworks and had to go to the front desk where they told us yet again our room was ready at 3PM. Note they did confirm both DH and my phone numbers and Email. I explained to the manager on duty this is the third trip in a row this has happened to us and we feel that they are picking to not text us. After being up since midnight and then touring the park all day we just wanted off the park bus and go straight to our room to sleep. He wasn't very understanding telling us we should have interrupted our trip to come back to get our room number. After all this we now know when we check in we are going to have to speak right with a manager and let them know of our previous issues so a room can be made ready sooner and they personally get our room # info to us. We did do online check in and selected an 8am arrival and that we would like anything avalible. This has been such an issue that DH is pricing out off property with rental car for the same price as staying at Pop.
 
We are going to POP in June. When request time comes up, thinking of requested a 70's building 6 first floor room. We have standards. Does anyone know if this is a good location? Seems to be fairly close to main hall and transport?

Yes,it is a fairly short walk to Classic Hall/Bus Stops.:)
 
Heading to POP in May, reserved a preferred room. Any chance at a lake view? If so what should I request?

I just posted about having the same problem recently. We did get our text when we stayed at AoA and I even had 3 different room checkins using my phone # and got them all. I think whatever they are supposed to do at Pop to text is just not happening. I agree, it is very frustrating. Thankfully we spent our first day at the resort and were able to check at the desk. But I would have been annoyed if I hadn't and then gone in the pool and went to Disney Springs without a proper shower because I didn't think my room was ready.
