Happy Saturday to everyone!!!

We've been counting 10-day buckets for a long time :hourglass .....I just counted weeks -- 22 weeks from right now, we should be headed for the sail-away party!!!! Woooohooooo!!! :cool1:

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Hi everyone! My family and I are new to DCL, we are excited but have a few questions about the cruise. Hopefully some of you can help us out with your DCL knowledge..
I have read online that people decorate their stateroom doors with magnet decorations? Is this something that any of you have done or recommend?
We are set for the 2nd dining, will this give us time to see the shows that I have read are absolutely a must?
Also.. where do you find the countdown app that you all are talking about?
Thanks so much for your help, we are so excited but I still feel since we are new to this I need to be doing lots of planning and researching!

Hope the following helps…
  • We did door decorations before. They're fun and if ya have younger kids it helps them remember their room rather than a number. Also can help the adults say after a martini tasting :rotfl2:
  • We have always done 2nd dining and the shows have two times each night so you will see the shows before dinner and you will have about 30 minutes between show and dinner so no rushing around.
  • Countdown is part of the DCL App which is the app you can use on board to get details of what's going on each day as well as texting your family members - all free with no roaming.

As Budamacdvcr said, door magnets are fun -- we found ours on Etsy. (I was looking for a picture to post for you, but my picture CDs are still packed from our move! If I come across it this afternoon, I'll put one here for you to check out.)

Also, the countdown app is great, but I like a real clock sitting on my desk. You can go to countdownclock.com and get a little clock that will count down days, minutes and seconds -- with all kinds of cool faces to put on the clock. Mine says "Time to go Bon Voyage!" It sits right under my computer monitor -- and perhaps distracts me a bit too much some days!! :surfweb:

By the way, welcome aboard!!! :welcome:

Hello, everyone!

My family booked in January but with school starting again it took us a little while to get the planning going. I'm traveling with my parents, two younger sisters (16 and 11 when we sail) and grandma. We are celebrating my sister's 16th birthday, other sister's dance nationals that are a few weeks before the cruise, my parents' 25th anniversary, my 20th birthday and my grandma's 70th birthday. Whew!

The same group of us did the Eastern Caribbean itinerary on the Fantasy in March 2014 and it was one of the best vacations we've ever taken. Can't wait.

It may not be necessary since there isn't a ton to plan, but I started a PTR for all of my cruise ramblings if you want to join me over there for more pre-cruise excitement.

Can't wait until it's our turn to set sail!

Awesome! Thank you so much! We are getting excited, and loving reading everyone's post! Can't wait!

This FE thing is addicting!!!!! Just when I think I have gotten all my supplies, I find some other cute idea!!!! Argh!

I'm doing a half Ironman 70.3 Sunday July 10th, so my training watch has a day countdown! I'm so ready to get on that boat and eat, sleep and not move for a week!!!!! Happy Monday everyone!

I am trying to post some images of Door Ears we have used to see if I can share them here. You just need to get 8-1/2" x 11" printable magnet sheets to print on and cut out. I have a .pdf file with several already scaled to be on an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet but the file is too large to load here. You can PM me if you want with an e-mail and I can send but let me see if I can load the individual files for you all

Since this is our first cruise, I'm still figuring everything out. How many fish extender gift days are there? Do we give gifts one day, or two, or three??? And, what days do people usually pass their gifts out on? So excited!!! I can't stopped looking for gift ideas on Pinterest :yay:

Hi Jen! Only one gift and you can do whatever day you want. It seems like most people hand them out the first few days. Our last cruise someone did pirate themed gifts so handed them out that day. We cruised over St Patrick's day so another gift was that day. It's totally up to you!

who has any ideas for port excursions? I know I would like to snorkel one day so I am assuming it will be in Tortuga because it has the clearest sea...Any body know the best tours or should we book thru Disney like we always do!

We are gonna stick with using DCL for excursion and are gonna do this one in St Thomas / St John:
Castaway Catamaran Sail & Snorkel to Shipwreck Cove (ST29). This sin't a very long one though which we like. There is also another one we looked at, St. John Champagne Catamaran Sail and Snorkel (ST21).
