I Can't, I'm Not Wearing a Princess Dress! - New TR link!!!!

When all else fails, go to Maui.

That could work.

Not bad. Still double your average wait.

I'd honestly be quite happy if on my next trip, my average wait time was double last trip's.

You'll never see me take a better food picture.

So that's it, huh?
Hey, did you hear that... hmmm... either it was a part of or a city in Germany has made food porn illegal?

It depends. You can walk in and get a little dose of the ambience and see the artifacts even if there aren't enough seats inside the bar. There's a large seating area outside the bar, but I think I'd almost prefer to go inside, walk up to the bar and get one to go while I walk around in there.

Good point.
It just sounded like (from descriptions I've read) a nice place to sit and chill.

Right. So this was barely inside that window. And again, it isn't like I waited 40 minutes for a bus, but nowhere near as lucky as you were with the buses.

No one, including me, will ever be that lucky with the buses again.

That's what I'd like to know.

Probably some cattle or sheep crossing the elevated tracks.

It is definitely popular, although it can't have a capacity much more than 50 or 60... doesn't take too many people to fill it.

That's it? I was under the impression that it was much larger.

Still a little bit more than your waits.

Yep.

I've kind of heard the opposite... that they tend to know the parks and grounds better because they are out working a little bit of everywhere and they see all the different areas. This one though was probably an international student. She had an accent and appeared to be very young. So being early January... who knows? Maybe she had just earned her ears? I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

I guess it just depends, like any job.
On my solo trip, I spoke briefly with a custodial CM and it was her first day.

If you don't know an answer, make one up!

::yes::

::yes:: And we didn't disappoint.

 Good!

Um... well... a double dog dare would be sufficient as well.

Yeah. A triple dog dare would've been overkill.

I haven't seen that movie in like 20 + years.

It was on the lunch room TV at work the other day. Caught the last few minutes.
Those fight sequences at the end? They really suck now.

Yeah... I should have. But I also just wanted to go to bed. So I chugged the PowerAde and headed for my room.

I hear that. Those days get long.

Fun update! Also, I am sending prayers and good thoughts your way!

Anyway, I don’t know if I (and several other people around me) misunderstood him or he just doesn’t know his wildlife, but he pointed to the right and told us there were some eagles!

I wish I could have gotten my phone up to take a picture of those beautiful, majestic…

Wild turkeys

This is hilarious.:rotfl2: We have wild turkeys that roam around our town on occasion and I must say they look nothing like eagles. I think that bus driver needed some glasses.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures, but I did take the time while I was in there to look around and soak in the detail. It really is a neat place with all of Indy’s artifacts and Jock’s airplane parts. I highly recommend taking some time to check it out if you get a chance.

This sounds like a fun place, i definitely want to try and check it out next time.

Oh well, at least I got to see the inside of Trader Sam’s.

It really is a cool place.

Maybe I can actually get in there for long enough to enjoy a drink sometime.

I'm heading to DL in April, one of the things i wanna do is check out Trader Sam's. Both of them (at DL and WDW) sound pretty awesome.

I found the lobby and it didn’t take me long to make it to Belle Vue Lounge. It was almost 6, but I finally made it! There were about 8 or 10 Disdads sitting there enjoying some drinks. It was kind of a fluid group throughout the evening as Dads would come or go as we made our way around the Boardwalk.

I am imagining all the dad jokes taking place!

I could tell that I missed a lot of the show because I really couldn’t see anything except for the highest fireworks. But I thought the soundtrack was great and from what I could see and hear, they did a great job making the fireworks go right along with the soundtrack. I thought it was a great show, but it was only about 5 minutes long. My only complaint is that I’d like it to be longer.

I watched a live feed of this show. I thought the feed cut out when I watching but I guess it is just that short. :confused3

Chillitsanne – Because princess drivers make me laugh out loud at work

Yay for bonus points :rotfl:

I'm not sure how you can mistake a wild turkey for an eagle. That just seems crazy. I wonder if someone corrected him on their way off the bus. :confused3 That really is funny.
I don't know. I guess I could give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe there was an eagle that I couldn't see circling overhead getting ready to have some turkey for dinner.

Or maybe the bus driver just doesn't know what he's talking about.

It's gotta be one of the two.

That is so sweet of you to get him something, especially a really cool Star Wars toy. My boys are all really into Legos, but not Star Wars. Did your son like the movie or was it too much for him?
He really enjoyed it. He'd seen I think the IV and V with me before, but ever since we saw the new movie, he's wanted to see pretty much anything Star Wars we can watch.

::yes::

That is a loooooong wait for a bus. Hopefully you didn't have a zero wait expectation.
I never have a zero wait expectation. I have a zero wait dreams! I always hope for something around 5 to 10 minutes... but of course you get a 19 every once in a while. Usually at the worst possible time.

That's a long time to wait in a confined monorail train. I think I'd be begging to get off.
I was starting to consider options at that point.

Did you take any pictures inside Trader Sam's?
I didn't. It felt a little stalkerish just coming in and walking around and taking pictures in a crowded bar and leaving.

I would have thought the same thing, that she would know where to go. At least you didn't walk too far before figuring it out.
The thing is, my gut feeling was that she was wrong. But I went with what she said. I apparently should have just gone with my gut and not asked.

And this is why I'll never ask for directions again. :rolleyes1

Yippee! You got to meet with the disdads after all.:cool1:
::yes:: Well, most of them. Some of the runners seemed to think it would be irresponsible to go out drinking the night before the half.

I'm sure that is a very neat experience.
::yes:: It definitely was.

Amazing! Do you know how long they will be running that show?
It is part of Season of the Force, so I guess for as long as they're running that promotion. I don't really know for sure. I'd imagine they might phase it out and bring back the Frozen summer events this summer, maybe?

Nice! I'm the total opposite of your wife. I would have called my DH freaking out and he would have reacted the same way as your wife, the car isn't damaged, no one was hurt. I once called him driving home from work (in a bad area) telling him something fell out of the bottom of the car and I couldn't steer the car. He calmly tells me not to worry something just can't fall out of the car (he's a mechanical engineer by the way, working for a car company). I'm screaming that I can't turn the wheel and the dials (not sure what they're called) are all lowering. I pull the steering wheel as hard as I can into a parking lot. He tells me he'll get a ride to come help me (we carpooled). It's freezing out and I wait outside of the car, just in case it blows up (yep, I'm that dumb). Anyways, turns out some belt fell off and did drop out of the car. He even walked further down the busy street and found it in the middle of the road. I couldn't steer because I had no power steering. I think he was more excited to try and fix the car than actually knowing I was ok. So a garage door falling would be a "project" for him.
Well, my concern was that there was something I needed to take care of and I wasn't there.

And actually, DW's story to me sounds a little bit similar to what you did. I mean she called me and said the door fell on her car. What actually happened was a piece of the track worked loose and the door got jammed on the way up. It didn't get high enough to clear the back of her car and she backed into the bottom or the door.

Anyway, no harm done to either the door or the vehicle. A little scuff to buff out of the top brake light on her car, but that was it. Her brother just had to fix the track and it was good to go.

I love that!
It was apparently good too!

Seriously?!!!! I totally thought I shot myself in the foot with that guess.
:rotfl2: That's why I made it worth so many points. I felt like that was so random that nobody would get it. Good job! :thumbsup2

What a great night!:thumbsup2
It really was!

Holy moly!!!!
That was kind of my reaction too. Impressive!

Lard Lad Donuts

Having to check in to the conference earlier than you were hoping to.

Gringotts (if it did, did you snap any pictures while exiting the ride?)

Roar like a dinosaur. Not sure if roar is the right word.

Hulk closed
Got em!

Yes they did but it was pretty pointless as it would just update as the bus skipped us. YOu would come up the depot would be fairly empty and the tv would show a wait of 20 or less and you would think, "Fabulous we got here in enough time! Not a long wait at all.." 30 minutes later the depot would be rather crowded at this point. Some family would send their older kid to check the tv and low and behold the time had changed AGAIN and again and again:rolleyes2. Heck for March, I'm not even looking for @pkondz level of Bus Mojo just regular old no more than a 20 minute wait for a bus mojo would make me happy.
Hmmm... that stinks. It seemed pretty accurate the few times we used the bus. We also never had a bus just completely bail on us and pass that stop. I just don't understand the logic behind the way they did it when you were there. And of all the stops to pass by, why would you skip the stop that is right there near the lobby?

Just checking in?

You'll love it here.

Nevermind the crowd of 300 ticked off people waiting for a bus right over there.

So I have never been in Martha's Vineyard lounge and I have never heard anyone talk about entertainment there. So that is a first for me. This was a Friday night, right? I'm going to have to go over to the thread and ask about it.

:goodvibes

ETA: So I asked over on the thread-

Someone found a review on Trip Advisor from November:

"The entertainment here on Saturday from 3-7 pm, John Stevens, is a lot of fun! Catch him if you can.

Staff here is amazing and accommodating. The food menu is small, but they have a full service kitchen for the nearby Cape May Cafe, so if you would like something you do not see, just ask (especially if you are vegetarian or vegan like me!)

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34515-d8546698-r316330800-Martha_s_Vineyard-Orlando_Florida.html#

Was this the guy?

and from Teena:
Dang, you're fast! Yes, it was a Friday night. I'm not sure if it was the same guy or not. I didn't see a picture of him on there, but I'd say that's a good possibility that this is who it was.

I'd honestly be quite happy if on my next trip, my average wait time was double last trip's.
Definitely. If it was always like that, I'd take a bus every time.

So that's it, huh?
Hey, did you hear that... hmmm... either it was a part of or a city in Germany has made food porn illegal?
Hmm... interesting. I don't have a problem with food pictures. But I'm not big on taking a lot of pictures to begin with. And I love food, but I'm far from being a foody. I don't care about preparation and presentation. It could look like a pile of stuff thrown on a plate. All I care about is how it tastes. So taking pictures of food has never really been something that I cared much about.

And besides. By the time I've got food in front of me, I'm probably too hungry to take time to do anything other than eat.

Good point.
It just sounded like (from descriptions I've read) a nice place to sit and chill.
It is. But the inside area is pretty small. It wasn't crowded at all when I was there, but I'd assume it can fill up quickly.

No one, including me, will ever be that lucky with the buses again.
Not even Bob Iger?

Probably some cattle or sheep crossing the elevated tracks.
That had to be it!

That's it? I was under the impression that it was much larger.
It was small. I'd heard that it is small, but honestly, I didn't expect it to be as small as it was when I walked in. I just ballparked that number for capacity, but I actually looked and Disney Food Blog has the capacity listed at 51. Now there's a much larger outdoor seating area with some of the drinks available, but you don't get the same ambience or experience as being inside.

I guess it just depends, like any job.
On my solo trip, I spoke briefly with a custodial CM and it was her first day.
Everybody has to have a first day at some point!

Yeah. A triple dog dare would've been overkill.
::yes:: That's more appropriate for getting someone to drink Beverly.

Thank you, it is much appreciated.

Well, they're both large birds. Aside from that... :rolleyes1

This sounds like a fun place, i definitely want to try and check it out next time.
I hope you can. I really liked it a lot. The ambience, drinks, food and service were all fantastic.

I'm heading to DL in April, one of the things i wanna do is check out Trader Sam's. Both of them (at DL and WDW) sound pretty awesome.
I hope you can pull it off. So far I'm 0 - 2 in my Trader Sam's attempts. :headache:

I am imagining all the dad jokes taking place!
There might have been a few.

I watched a live feed of this show. I thought the feed cut out when I watching but I guess it is just that short. :confused3

I chose to time my wait. 2 minutes. Not bad.

I need to find out how you guys get these fast bus pickups.

Anyway, I don’t know if I (and several other people around me) misunderstood him or he just doesn’t know his wildlife, but he pointed to the right and told us there were some eagles!

I wish I could have gotten my phone up to take a picture of those beautiful, majestic…

Wild turkeys.

Maybe he had been drinking some Wild Turkey???

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maybe he saw some Philadelphia Eagles. If there were a couple of guys playing catch and repeatedly dropping the ball, that was them.

Eventually, we arrived at the Springs. I headed in and my first stop was a quick visit to the Lego store. Since we were leaving DS at home, we had to bring home something fun for him!

Yep, nothing like trying to buy your way back into your kids' good graces.:thumbsup2

20160108_144533_2.jpg

Cool.

And keeping with tradition, well, I rarely photograph food. I’d finally sated my appetite just enough to take a picture for you this time though…

Wow, that just makes me want to run right out and order some leaves!

It really is a neat place with all of Indy’s artifacts and Jock’s airplane parts. I highly recommend taking some time to check it out if you get a chance.

Being an Indiana Jones nut, I would love to check this place out. Glad you had a good experience.

Ok, @pkondz maybe it took more than 2 or 3 bus rides to match you, but this is my third bus and I’m almost there. You suck.

::yes::

We pulled out of the MK station and stopped for a few minutes for “traffic.”

We got going again and made it to the Contemporary.

They loaded the monorail and closed the doors. And we sat.

And sat.

And sat.

:faint: Now that's the magical experience I'm accustomed to.

Oh well, at least I got to see the inside of Trader Sam’s.

It really is a cool place.

Maybe I can actually get in there for long enough to enjoy a drink sometime.

Yup, there it is.

I saw a custodial CM. I asked her, because who would know the grounds better???

She directed me to the side of the water where the boat launch is.

She was wrong.

D'oh!

Not to brag, but who needs to be a runner? I found out that I can speed walk from DHS to Boardwalk faster than somebody decked out in running shoes and looking like a marathoner can do it.

Well, I'm sold. No running for me.

There were about 8 or 10 Disdads sitting there enjoying some drinks. It was kind of a fluid group throughout the evening as Dads would come or go as we made our way around the Boardwalk.

Awesome! Glad you were able to meet up and hang out.

Well, when a group of Disdads walks in taking up half the lounge, it obviously made for some good interactions with him. I’m not sure if he was impressed or frustrated with us when he’d try to set up a joke and someone would steal his punchline.

You don't try corny Dad jokes in a room full of Dads. We know 'em all.

I thought it was a great show, but it was only about 5 minutes long. My only complaint is that I’d like it to be longer.

True of most fireworks shows. I'd love to see them with Star Wars music.

Basically she assured me that the car was fine and the door is ok and fixed.

If the door had really fallen on the car, I would think the car wouldn't be "fine".

One of the dads took a quick look and ordered right away. He got a Kimonos Dragon, I believe. The server kind of gave him a sideways look and told him it is pink and has rose petals in it. He smiled at her and said he’s secure in his manhood.

Ok, spill it. We need to know who this was.:rotfl2:

I was then asked what my room number is because they’d need to know that information ahead of time if I was going to try sake.

:scared1: Japanese for "don't make any plans."

It was a fun evening getting to put a face with some names and enjoy some conversations in person. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to spend some time with them and enjoy some interactions. I hope I can do it again in the future!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I wish I could replicate that success.

It is definitely worth stopping by. I know you'll appreciate all of the sight gags and the props that are hidden around the room.

Yup, there it is.
Pretty much...

Well, I'm sold. No running for me.
That's exactly what I thought. Hey, if you can't beat me from DHS to the Boardwalk, then I think I'm doing ok...

Awesome! Glad you were able to meet up and hang out.
It was a lot of fun. We chatted, we laughed... we laughed some more. It was great.

You don't try corny Dad jokes in a room full of Dads. We know 'em all.

It is part of Season of the Force, so I guess for as long as they're running that promotion. I don't really know for sure. I'd imagine they might phase it out and bring back the Frozen summer events this summer, maybe?

I don't know anything for sure, but I got the idea (at least at DL) that they were doing The Season of the Force as sort of a consolation that 10% of the park is down for refurb with the construction of Star Wars Land. With the way people are talking about DHS being torn up, I suspect it might be similar reasoning.

Wow! Did you ever get to DL's version of Trader Sam's? I counted (just now in my mind) how many seats there are inside and there are probably around 25 inside seats. As with WDW there are plenty of outside seats, but you just don't get that quirky atmosphere.

Okay, now that I've lost any reputation I may have developed as someone who reads updates shortly after they're posted ...

They were very helpful and told me that I'd have no problem going the way I planned to go. It was a refreshing change from what I experienced at Disneyland last year.

Aha! I knew that people should know what was going on!
What you did not see, however, was a sign somewhere showing the hours of the race weekend events and what bus number Pop Century was (the buses to the events are numbered). That sign didn't know up until Saturday (or maybe very late Friday). We were unhappy.

Anyway, I don’t know if I (and several other people around me) misunderstood him or he just doesn’t know his wildlife, but he pointed to the right and told us there were some eagles!

I wish I could have gotten my phone up to take a picture of those beautiful, majestic…

Wild turkeys.

Eagles, turkeys, same thing, right?

Maybe he had been drinking some Wild Turkey???

If you spent all day driving a bus full of tourists, you might want to drink too!

And this, boys and girls, is why we don’t pay attention to rumors spread by bus drivers.

But a bus driver told me that they're making admission free and giving people 12 FP+ that can be booked 83 days before my trip!

I think we ended up sitting there for about 15 minutes. I don’t know for sure. I didn’t exactly time it since I didn’t expect to be sitting there for so long.

Well, sure. That's exactly how you want to spend your time on the monorail, just sitting there.
The moral of the story is: never trust Disney transportation. It's fast when you're ahead of schedule and there are delays when you're running late.

Oh well, at least I got to see the inside of Trader Sam’s.

Well, you're ahead of me then. I still haven't seen the inside (beyond the hostess stand).

Maybe I can actually get in there for long enough to enjoy a drink sometime.

Yeah, that would probably be cool.

Not to brag, but who needs to be a runner? I found out that I can speed walk from DHS to Boardwalk faster than somebody decked out in running shoes and looking like a marathoner can do it.

(Although I always say that there are definitely people out there who walk faster than I run. But I cover the miles and get the shiny medal at the end, and that's all that matters)

Yay! You made it! I was starting to wonder if you ever would...

Unfortunately, I don’t have a group picture,

Well now I don't believe that you actually made it there. I'm told that there need to be pictures or if didn't happen.

It's definitely a good show, and it works well with the music. But yeah, it could be longer.

While we were talking, she told me she had to have her brother come over and fix our garage door because it fell on her car!

Well that's exactly what you want to hear on vacation...

Sure enough, it was a pink drink and it did indeed have rose petals floating in it.

At least you know that the server knows what she's talking about.

Who knows anything about sake?

That one I didn't see coming.

I was then asked what my room number is because they’d need to know that information ahead of time if I was going to try sake.

And ... sake has just joined vodka on my list of "things I will not drink." If they're asking you that, even jokingly ... I'm guessing I'd pass out after like 1 sip (or shot or whatever).

I survived my first sake experience no worse for the wear.

Always good to hear!

I have to assume it was because they were closing in about 15 minutes, but this was the absolute worst food I’ve ever had at Disney World. My burger was cold and the fries were cold and had clearly been sitting there for a while. It was just bad.

Well, that's not a fun way to end the night. At least the cheesecake and Powerade were good.

SarahDisney – Because I think he was drinking Wild Turkey. And closest on minutes waited.

Yay! Bonus points! I never get bonus points!

Well, since you had such a great experience at Pop Century the night before, I'm going with ... Pop Century.

3. What kind of problem did I have to deal with over the phone when I woke up? (20 points)

The garage door fell on the car again.

4. I repeatedly encountered an annoying family wearing shirts based on characters from an attraction in Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. Name the movie, TV show, Attraction, Land or characters. (5 points)

It's definitely Thing 1, Thing 2 ... from Cat in the Hat. Because that's the best way for a parent to cover up not knowing their kids' names.

5. How many times did I walk past Diagon Alley before figuring out where to go? (5 points)

3 (that's a total guess ... I still haven't been to Diagon Alley, so I don't know how hard it is to find)

6. Which ride broke down while I was on it? (5 points)

Escape from Gringotts. Apparently that thing always breaks down.

7. What did my fellow passengers on Jurassic Park River Adventure continually do that made me want to feed them to the T-Rex? (10 points)

Well ... it's Orlando in January, so I'm going with ... chant. Loud, annoying, chanting.

8. How many times did I ride the Hogsmeade Express between the parks? (5 points)

0. There is no Hogsmeade Express.
The Hogwarts Express, however ... I'm gonna go with 2.
Seriously, didn't we make you watch the movies for a reason?

9. I saw something in Islands of Adventure that made me really, really sad. What was it? (Hint: This should be easy if you know my favorite ride there and check the refurb list. – 20 points)

I don't know your favorite ride, but I think you're a coaster guy, so I'm gonna go with the Hulk being closed.

And ... done. Let's see if I get any points from this round...

And besides. By the time I've got food in front of me, I'm probably too hungry to take time to do anything other than eat.

I hear ya. A few times I was "Oh boy! Food! <snarf> <snarf> <snarf>... uh... shoot. Forgot to take the picture."

Not even Bob Iger?

You really think he takes... the bus???

Everybody has to have a first day at some point!

::yes::

::yes:: That's more appropriate for getting someone to drink Beverly.

Or....

I just don't understand the logic behind the way they did it when you were there. And of all the stops to pass by, why would you skip the stop that is right there near the lobby?
I have never understood it either, especially when they acknowledge it as the main stop. :confused3

Just checking in?

You'll love it here.

Nevermind the crowd of 300 ticked off people waiting for a bus right over there.
::yes:::rotfl:

I saw your update that you weren't feeling the greatest - hope everything is going well for you and your family.

I had received a text at around 10 am that my room was ready, so I parked and went to look for my room. I found this nice path to walk from the parking lot towards the building I would be staying in. I was just soaking in the sights and smells of being at a Disney resort.

Gotta love when your room is ready that early! :thumbsup2 I'm a fan of the text updates.

I headed out to the bus stop and waited for a bus to Disney Springs. Taking a page out of @pkondz ‘s book, I chose to time my wait. 2 minutes. Not bad.

2 mins is awesome! I always like the bus service at Pop.

Wild turkeys.

Maybe he had been drinking some Wild Turkey???

And this, boys and girls, is why we don’t pay attention to rumors spread by bus drivers.

:rotfl:

The flatbread was also great. I don’t particularly care for seafood. I’ll eat it once in a while, but given a choice, it isn’t something I’ll tend to order. But for some reason, I chose to go that way this time, and I’m glad I got it. It hit the spot and it was absolutely delicious. Everything on it tasted fresh and flavorful. I wouldn’t hesitate to get it again, but I also think I might try the meatball sliders next time, as they looked delicious.

Sounds good! Glad someone made it in there to review the food and drinks, haha. I've heard good things about the Reggie's Revenge.

Not to brag, but who needs to be a runner? I found out that I can speed walk from DHS to Boardwalk faster than somebody decked out in running shoes and looking like a marathoner can do it.

Hahahaha... this poor guy was probably like "What the heck how is this guy passing me!?" I enjoy that walk, but when you're in a hurry, it seems so long.

I walked back towards DHS from the Boardwalk. This was the second time on this path for those who are counting.

What a work out.

Awesome!! I have heard this show is really good - I'm surprised it's only 5 minutes though, what the heck!?

As the show was ending, my phone rang. DW was calling me. She was on her way home, so I talked to her and told the kids goodnight. While we were talking, she told me she had to have her brother come over and fix our garage door because it fell on her car!

 :faint:
I have to assume it was because they were closing in about 15 minutes, but this was the absolute worst food I’ve ever had at Disney World. My burger was cold and the fries were cold and had clearly been sitting there for a while. It was just bad.

The cheesecake and Powerade at least hit the spot.

At least the cheesecake hopefully made up for it!? I hate when that happens. It's not that hard to make a good burger and fries.

Awesome that you got to meet up with the DisDads.. how fun. I feel like you ran all over the place that day.

I'm back on the boards and had to stop by and check out your most recent report! Looks like I'm joining early on too, yay!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!! So exciting.

And my thoughts are with you guys that everything is alright.

This trip sounds like it was quite different from what you are used to, which is good and bad I suppose! I look forward to reading more!

I don't know anything for sure, but I got the idea (at least at DL) that they were doing The Season of the Force as sort of a consolation that 10% of the park is down for refurb with the construction of Star Wars Land. With the way people are talking about DHS being torn up, I suspect it might be similar reasoning.
That's kind of the deal in DHS... but the Launch Bay was always billed as being "permanent" until the new land opens, while the Season of the Force festivities were more "seasonal." I don't know what that will translate to, and the way Disney works, they could end up just keeping it going. Who knows?

Wow! Did you ever get to DL's version of Trader Sam's? I counted (just now in my mind) how many seats there are inside and there are probably around 25 inside seats. As with WDW there are plenty of outside seats, but you just don't get that quirky atmosphere.
So as small as the WDW version is, it's still about twice the size? Wow!

Okay, now that I've lost any reputation I may have developed as someone who reads updates shortly after they're posted ...
You had that reputation?

Aha! I knew that people should know what was going on!
What you did not see, however, was a sign somewhere showing the hours of the race weekend events and what bus number Pop Century was (the buses to the events are numbered). That sign didn't know up until Saturday (or maybe very late Friday). We were unhappy.
Oh yuck. You'd think they might want to get that info out a little bit sooner.

Eagles, turkeys, same thing, right?
They both have feathers. So yeah, pretty much.

If you spent all day driving a bus full of tourists, you might want to drink too!
Good point!

But a bus driver told me that they're making admission free and giving people 12 FP+ that can be booked 83 days before my trip!
Where do I sign up????

Well, sure. That's exactly how you want to spend your time on the monorail, just sitting there.
The moral of the story is: never trust Disney transportation. It's fast when you're ahead of schedule and there are delays when you're running late.
::yes::

Well, you're ahead of me then. I still haven't seen the inside (beyond the hostess stand).
Honestly, I was surprised that there was a hostess stand for a lounge.

Yeah, that would probably be cool.
If not, it wouldn't be so crowded.

(Although I always say that there are definitely people out there who walk faster than I run. But I cover the miles and get the shiny medal at the end, and that's all that matters)
You got the medals. I got the beer.

Yeah, still not seeing the appeal of this racing thing. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Yay! You made it! I was starting to wonder if you ever would...
Finally!

Well now I don't believe that you actually made it there. I'm told that there need to be pictures or if didn't happen.
There was video. Periscoped and broadcast on FB. And there's a podcast of audio from Martha's Vineyard. Proof is out there. :thumbsup2

It's definitely a good show, and it works well with the music. But yeah, it could be longer.
::yes::

Well that's exactly what you want to hear on vacation...
Problems at home when you're away are always fun. :faint:

At least you know that the server knows what she's talking about.
That, she did... And really, service there as a whole was great.

That one I didn't see coming.
:rotfl: Only one person did!

And ... sake has just joined vodka on my list of "things I will not drink." If they're asking you that, even jokingly ... I'm guessing I'd pass out after like 1 sip (or shot or whatever).
It really isn't any stronger than a shot of anything else. I think the thing about sake is that it doesn't really have that "alcohol" taste. So if you're sitting there having a few drinks you could probably end up drinking more than you realize.

Always good to hear!
::yes::

Well, that's not a fun way to end the night. At least the cheesecake and Powerade were good.
Honestly, this was the first time I had the tie dyed cheesecake. I just had to finally try it. I'm glad I got it so that I at least had something good to eat.

Yay! Bonus points! I never get bonus points!
Well then, congratulations.

Yes! I'm in second place!!! This is exciting!
In second place... yet still way behind. :duck:

I hear ya. A few times I was "Oh boy! Food! <snarf> <snarf> <snarf>... uh... shoot. Forgot to take the picture."
This is me. Every meal.

You really think he takes... the bus???
He takes whatever he wants. And if it is a bus, I guarantee he doesn't wait.

I have never understood it either, especially when they acknowledge it as the main stop. :confused3
Exactly!

Following along, love your trip report!
Welcome, and thanks for reading along!

I saw your update that you weren't feeling the greatest - hope everything is going well for you and your family.
Thank you.

Gotta love when your room is ready that early! :thumbsup2 I'm a fan of the text updates.
Yeah, I like that service. When it works.

2 mins is awesome! I always like the bus service at Pop.
::yes:: I've had pretty good luck there.

Sounds good! Glad someone made it in there to review the food and drinks, haha. I've heard good things about the Reggie's Revenge.
It was a really good drink. I'm sure I'll go back for another one!

Hahahaha... this poor guy was probably like "What the heck how is this guy passing me!?" I enjoy that walk, but when you're in a hurry, it seems so long.
It really is a beautiful walk. And it isn't too terribly long.

What a work out.
::yes::

Awesome!! I have heard this show is really good - I'm surprised it's only 5 minutes though, what the heck!?
I was definitely surprised when it ended. The show is fantastic though. Better than the 5 minute firework show we saw at Disneyland last year, for sure!

At least the cheesecake hopefully made up for it!? I hate when that happens. It's not that hard to make a good burger and fries.
I don't know if it made up for it, but at least the cheesecake was good.

Awesome that you got to meet up with the DisDads.. how fun. I feel like you ran all over the place that day.
It was a fun night and I really felt like I ran all over the place! There was just so much that I wanted to try to fit in that I wouldn't have time to do with DW and DD.

I'm back on the boards and had to stop by and check out your most recent report! Looks like I'm joining early on too, yay!
Hi there, welcome back!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!! So exciting.
Thanks!

And my thoughts are with you guys that everything is alright.
I appreciate it. Hopefully I can share a little bit soon.

This trip sounds like it was quite different from what you are used to, which is good and bad I suppose! I look forward to reading more!
It was different. And honestly, I think more good than bad. I mean, I'd have preferred to just spend a full week at WDW, but it really worked out well and turned out to be a fantastic week.

Can I change my steps guess to 26,000
:thumbsup2

Catching up on your report. I was at Disney last week so I'm dealing with post Disney depression.

9. The Hulk was down

Awesome update. Sounds like you had a good time with the DISdads and got to see some fireworks too :thumbsup2. I about died at your wife's garage door falling on her car :rotfl2:, that's totally something I would say. Looking forward to hearing about your day at Universal.

3. DW having car troubles
4. Minions
5. 3
6. Escape from Gringotts
7. Excessive fake screaming
8. 2
9. Hulk being down :sad1:

It really is a neat place with all of Indy’s artifacts and Jock’s airplane parts. I highly recommend taking some time to check it out if you get a chance. And while you’re at it, walk up to the bar and grab a drink to go if you don’t want to sit down.
This looks like an awesome place, especially for Indiana Jones fans. I heard there are even a couple Star Wars "Easter eggs" in there. Great tip about the to go drinks, too.
I survived my first sake experience no worse for the wear.
I only tried sake once. It was quite potent, at least for me. I may not try it again.
And the questions for round 2:

1. I’m going to be going to Universal Studios and then checking in at my conference. How many steps will I walk on Saturday? (points will be awarded based on how close you are to the answer)

2. Where did I have breakfast? (5 points)

3. What kind of problem did I have to deal with over the phone when I woke up? (20 points)

4. I repeatedly encountered an annoying family wearing shirts based on characters from an attraction in Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. Name the movie, TV show, Attraction, Land or characters. (5 points)

5. How many times did I walk past Diagon Alley before figuring out where to go? (5 points)

6. Which ride broke down while I was on it? (5 points)

7. What did my fellow passengers on Jurassic Park River Adventure continually do that made me want to feed them to the T-Rex? (10 points)

8. How many times did I ride the Hogsmeade Express between the parks? (5 points)

2. Leaky Cauldron
3. something related to your conference
4. "Thing" shirts from Seuss Landing
5. twice
6. Escape from Gringotts
7. screaming
8. 2
9. The Hulk coaster was dismantled

(I know you are doing another update soon. I hope these are not too late for you )

You had that reputation?

I was hoping I had that reputation. Apparently I didn't.

You got the medals. I got the beer.

Yeah, still not seeing the appeal of this racing thing. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

The runDisney races have a beer truck in the finisher area.
So you get the medals and the beer. Although you have to pay for the beer.
There are some races out there that give you a free beer at the end. So those are even better.

It really isn't any stronger than a shot of anything else. I think the thing about sake is that it doesn't really have that "alcohol" taste. So if you're sitting there having a few drinks you could probably end up drinking more than you realize.

So if, like me, you're someone who counts how many drinks they've had (and sticks to a strict limit), you'll probably be fine.
If you're normal ... it's one of those "you're not gonna realize you're drunk until something goes wrong" things.
Got it.

In second place... yet still way behind. :duck:

The number of points doesn't matter. All that matters is that I'm ahead of everyone except one person.
