River of Lights in Animal Kingdom

Darn it, now I cannot remember where I saw this online, something about the delays in Avatar might cause them to speed up Rivers of Light construction. Maybe on Screamscape???

Lyricallie, I think you will be in luck.

Most blogs are stating that Disney is shooting for MAY 1ST.

I have to say that of all the night time shows I already know that this one will touch me the most. Just watching the "trailer" gives me goosebumps. I don't know when it will come out, what time it will show, where the best seating is, or what it will entail but I'm WAY excited to find out.

Let the animal spirits be on our side and it will be available to view for our trip

I just saw on WDW Prep blog that opening could be March 2016!

From what I am reading online, there is a delay in Avatar, so they might speed up Rivers of Light.

I think it will be May 2016 or as someone mentioned Earth Day.

There are a few things on the verge of opening (Epcot Frozen, Sunset Safari, Rivers of Light) when we visit the week of March 13th. So I wish at least this would be done. Was hoping to see something new.

I could always swap one of my full Epcot days for AK. That way it would not interfere too much w/fastpasses. Which of course have already been selected.

I have AK set for our last day/departure day as a 1/2 day park. All my plans would need to be changed if this becomes available!!!!

Just talked to Disney chat on their website and their is no set date. I asked if they ever have a "set date" for opening and the chat person said yes.

It would be so fantastic to get more bang for my buck and AK become a full day park.

I feel bad because it always gets pushed into the 1/2 day slot in our planning because of its early closure.
Avatar is not delayed its on schedule for 2017 as always.

Frozen is looking to be May or early June. Sunset safaris is supposed to open the same time as Tiffins the new restaurant and Rivers of light.

Disneh "chat" is never going to reveal anything. Those people on the other side don't know any more than we do.

In my opinion AK already is a full day park.

I'm hoping they keep this out of the FP+ category and make it like the DL fastpass - show up early and grab one. Otherwise the battle will begin at the 60 day Mark, and I am sick of that. The Fantasmic! Experiment last year hopefully is a forerunner to that.

I would probably just book the dining combo, but the restaurants in DAK don't do it for me at $60.00 a person.
Unfortunately it very likely be a battle at the 60 day mark even though I don't think it will be like Anna and Elsa battle. Animal kingdom is opening a new restaurant that will likely offer dinner packages.

Screamscape often isn't very reliable.

Do we think that Tiffins will be the only place offering the dinner package... if in fact a dinner package is even offered...

I am super excited for River of Lights and all the nighttime entrainment for that matter come to AK! I have always enjoyed AK the few times that it was open late into the evening. As far as how many showings there will be, I can only assume that there will likely be multiple showings daily since this will be a brand new show and interest will be sky high.

Depends on what Disney decides to do. If they do it like World of Color they could do two restaurants.

Not to go all off topic but what is Sunset Safari?
It's also called the nighttime safaris. It is Kilimanjaro safaris but at night. They will be using lighting effects to make it seem like the sun is setting in the Savannah.

Isn't that something only for resort guests staying at AKL...or something like that?

Thanks... we are going in June, so I am closely watching this. I am hoping for a dinner package and would like a choice in places.... guess we will have to see! It's not like AK has a ton of choices...

No those were discontinued. This will be an all new experience for all park guests later this year.

"All" might not be accurate if the shows are in the FP+ system. Those at the 30 day mark may be hard pressed to see the show. Unless they buy the dinner package.

The wishes FP is one of the most difficult FP to get, and you don't really need a FP for that. At DAK, seating will be limited and a pass will be required.

Even if tiers were instituted, I would say Rivers of Light would be first choice along with the Safari.

And the the Nightime limited Safari seats will be really difficult to get also.

I was talking about the nighttime safaris. They aren't a limited event it's just going on the safari but just at night. There will be a standby and fastpass queue no different than there is for safaris now. It is now a limited safari it's supposed to be open for all guests just like any ride.

What is this?? I've never even known AK to be open past 5 o'clock?!
They've had somewhat regular 8pm closings on the weekend this year. I think they are actively getting the animals used to it.

EE at night is WDW's best night attraction...that used to only run during Christmas week extended hours. it's good more guests will get to experience it.

Comparing the dinner packages to Disney California Adventure and a World of Color. Dining Packages.

I guess Tiffens, Rain Forest Cafe, and Yak n Yeti would have to fill that role. Nothing there as cool as Carthay Circle or Blue Bayou at Disneyland. I purchased the Wine Country Trattatoria lunch package with the World of Color in June. That cost about $40.00 a person. It probably wasn't necessary because the World of Color Fastpasses were only distributed on the day of event. We were in the park early enough. But we liked the preferred viewing area.

So if they have a similar model, the best seats will be saved for dining packages. Unfortunately, the two Landrys restaurants and that new Tiffens don't really offer interesting options.
