Be our guest lunch was just bad

We ate there twice back when it was a "fast pass" for onsite guests. We loved it both times, I am comparing it to other theme park food and considering the atmosphere.

We had lunch there last month, very disappointed. We had the same experience on waiting for a table. We had to stand by a dirty table while it was being cleaned off otherwise we wouldn't had gotten a seat. We pre-ordered our food and it still took forever for our meal to be served to us. My daughters meal was not edible and her apple juice tasted like water.

On our next trip, we are not going back there.

I had lunch there last May.
It was slow enough in the park that day that we were able to luck out with a walkup, so I didn't have any of the overcrowded, no clean tables problem. I totally feel for those of you who did. Especially with cranky CMs and guests! I definitely think I would have been talking to a manager in some of these circumstances.
BUT for the PP who wondered what to order - I had the Potato Leek Soup, Carved Turkey Sandwich and The Master's Cupcake. My food was really delicious (I knew from previous dinners there I loved the soup and french fries) and I was pretty much full for the rest of the day. (I don't remember what my friend had but she was also full and pleased).
If I could eat the food again without the hassle many of you had I'd be back in a heartbeat. Hearing these stories makes me a little nervous about our reservation there coming up in a few weeks...

We thought dinner was amazing, went back for lunch the next day and were disappointed as well. Boyfriend said it was the worst meal we had at Disney. We got roast beef sandwiches and there was so much roast beef you could barely bite into them. They tasted alright but nothing special. We sat in the West Wing because we had sat in the dining room the night before, and we had to wait a minute or so for the table to clear. After that it was non stop people snapping pictures. We were near the picture of the Beast, and people wouldn't stop taking flash pictures of it. I took some pictures in the room and didn't need to turn the flash on at all. It also felt like they were in a hurry to get people out and get more people in, and we wanted to sit and enjoy our meal but felt very rushed. I would go back for dinner or try breakfast, but I wouldn't do lunch there again.

We've done two lunches and one dinner there. Dinner wasn't so great. Sat in the ball room, it was breathtaking but loud. Waitress wasn't very good, food was okay at best, grey stuff wasn't good at all! Felt like eating in a very pretty cafeteria.

Both lunches we've gotten FP for - first lunch was normal timing (noonish) and we ate in the west wing. They didn't give us much direction (where to get drinks, where to order since they lost our preorder - this was very early on in the FP+ testing, not sure they had all the wrinkles ironed out) but food was good and loved the ambiance.
Second time, we had the first FP slot of the day and cut in front of the entire stand - by line that had been there since park open and got to see the opening show. Was still a little confusing because they lost our order again, but the food was great (both lunches, including the master's cupcake), service was fine/fast, loved being able to get my own refills.

We've done lunch twice at BOG, most recently last Friday, 10/30. My two biggest complaints are:

1. The check in process is ridiculous. Even if you pre order, which we did. It's even worse if you don't.

2. The food was fine, but the portions are tiny. We all left hungry. I finished my sandwich but didn't feel like eating the 150 French fries that were served as a side.

They could do so much better with this restaurant. I'd start by increasing portion size. They could also add a few things to the menu.

Wow, we want back when it was a FP and it was not crowded. It was quick and good for a MK CS. It sounds like they are not staffing appropriately for the number of ADRs. And those situations where someone gets frustrated because someone else took the last straw or table are inexcusable. It would be very easy to simply staff to ensure tables are promptly cleaned and cups, straws, silver wear are all appropriately replenished.

We're going for the first time in March. I couldn't make up my mind which meal to eat there, and have had ADRs at one point for B, L, and D, but finally settled on lunch due to menu appeal and cost.
I'm going in expecting a quick service meal in a unique atmosphere. The Rose Gallery is actually going to be my first pick if we can get it. It looks charming and perhaps a bit less hectic. We'll take a quick peek in the other rooms, of course.
I think we'll pre-order. I'm planning on French onion soup, either turkey or beef sandwich, and a Master's cupcake! Sounds like a good lunch to me!

I ate there for lunch a week ago. I had the croque monsieur with fries. I loved it!!! I thought the food was really good and fresh, and the fries stayed crispy. I had the strawberry cupcake....I thought it was blah. Then again I hate cupcakes. :confused3
I personally loved finding my own table...yes its packed but you have to be patient. I'd definitely go back for lunch again! :goodvibes

We have always done dinner at BOG & have had a wonderful experience. We would love to try lunch, but have never been able to make it work on our MK days...

My sister & adult niece did the breakfast on their summer trip this past July and had not one good thing to say. :( Difficult to find seating, CMs not very helpful, and She sent the food back once as it was a hot meal that was too cold to eat & enjoy. The meal that came back was just as cold. Needless to say, they won't be going back to BOG again. In my sisters words - not if it was free.

We ate at BOG for the first time last December.

I would describe the food as OK. Nothing special, but it was decent.

We had an early ADR as the place was just opening for supper. We were seated promptly. The service was good. No complaints about any of the CM's.

Overall I would rate the place ok. No better or worse than a place like Tony's.

I doubt we will eat there again any time soon. Not because it was bad, but because it's not worth the hassle of getting the coveted ADR there. There are better places to eat that are no problem getting ADR' at.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it though. It's a cool looking place and the food was ok. Just don't expect it to be the meal of a lifetime.

I enjoyed the quiche & salad @ lunch. It wasn't my #1 favorite QS of our trip but it felt healthier & tasted good so I was happy w/ it. My DH was very happy w/ his pork, he was pretty impressed w/ the QS choices. I'm sorry you had a negative experience, thankfully it was @ a QS meal vs a TS. Thanks for adding the Tony's lunch review, I think it must have improved greatly over the past few years b/c the reviews keep getting better & I've been wanting to try the lunch there!

We ate there last December (fp lunch) and I wasn't very impressed by the food, but then I like basic food, not food that has a lot of added ingredients. Neither of my DGDs ate theirs either. They're picky eaters and if food doesn't look like what they're used to, they won't eat. On the plus side, we had pre ordered, and though there was a lot confusion at the check in desk (for others) we were seated right away and the food came quickly, I was not too impressed.

That's what I was going to say. This next trip we're trying the dinner because the DGDs want to see the Beast, and also a breakfast, but just to get into the park pre opening - not so much to ride 7DMT 3 times but to be in the park when it's relatively peaceful and quiet.

We had lunch at BOG last year and I will third the "feels like eating in a very pretty cafeteria" comment. The food was decent but not spectacular and the noisy, chaotic atmosphere at lunch didn't jive with the elegant surroundings. This year we tried dinner and it was a completely different experience. Delicious food, wonderful server, gorgeous atmosphere, and a great meet with the Beast afterwards. I probably won't waste our time on lunch again, but would definitely try for another dinner ADR in the future.

Well interestingly I thought I was the sole person who didn't enjoy this place. I wanted to add cheese to my sandwich...no can do...eat it the way it is. Okay that sucked....the tables were in need of busing and the silverware area was a mess. I wouldn't go again unless it was for dinner. Even then maybe not.

Has anyone eaten in the Rose Gallery, and does it have the same "cafeteria" feel to it? From pictures and videos I've seen, it seems like it might be quieter than the other two rooms, and I actually think it's the prettiest room.

I am on the fence about this lunch. I canceled our dinner, because the time wasn't good for us. I really want to try it out for myself, but don't want to waste a meal!

Last October, I had a FP for lunch at BOG. We ate in the main dining room. The food was bland (I had the vegetable quiche), but it was fun to be at Beast's castle. My biggest annoyance was the crazy long wait we had to get in despite the fast pass. After that experience, I was a little worried I would be wasting money for our dinner scheduled later in the week, let alone all the time I spent trying to get that ADR. But the dinner was much better...we really enjoyed our meals and we got to sit in the West Wing (Rose Gallery), which was a lovely atmosphere. And meeting Beast was a great added bonus. I'm definitely not going out of my way for another meal there, but it was a fun experience and I would eat there again when the hype fizzles a little and it's not such a pain to secure an ADR.

I thought the Rose Gallery was the one with the music box of Belle and Beast dancing? Maybe I'm confused. That's the room I want to try to sit in though.

I really hope people are emailing and writing to WDW about the service issues. Disappointing food, crowds, guest rudeness is all annoying, but understandable given the popularity of the place. But there's zero excuse for the nasty reaction diners are getting simply by asking for a clean table or utensils. Ridiculous!

I don't care how understaffed or busy this restaurant is - you don't take out frustrations on paying guests. I am always very polite and friendly and never like making a scene. But you bet I'd have a couple of letters in the mail to the right management people when I returned home. I know 99% of CMs are wonderful and put up with a lot. I've ignored the few who were testy, figuring they probably just faced the guest from you know where before getting to me. But it sounds like this is a recurring problem at BOG - and the staff needs a major attitude adjustment or back room jobs away from the public.
