I'm certain this has been asked and answered before, but what happens if you use a combo of target GCs and your red card in store? For example, I have $179.38 in target gift cards. If I try to buy $200 in Disney gift cards and put the remaining $20.62 on my red debit, what happens with the 5%? Do I get it on the full $200 purchase? The $20.62 on the red card? Nothing?

You get 5% savings on the $20.62.

I love you both! I was able to get the needed $185 in eBay gift cards for $165 on gyft (3 at $45 for $50 and one $35 for $30 using the new signup $5 gyft card) so now I will have a $200 target card for $165! Even if I use the target cards at face value in store, $200 in Disney gift cards for $165 is awesome for me!!

Thanks to all 3 of you for this tip! I did the same as the above poster and got $200 for $165 (and they are NOT sold out as of a couple of minutes ago). Even I just buy regular stuff (not gift cards), it's a great deal!

Just so you know, the general rule in store at Target is that you cannot purchase ANY other gift card with a Target gift card. I don't know why their online policy is different, but that's how it is. You may come across the random employee who doesn't know any better, but that is their policy. So let's hope the cards come back in stock online soon!

Funny you mentioned that. I had an issue at Kroger today trying to purchase my Target gift cards with Visa gift cards. For about a year now, I've been buying a Visa gift card first (for 4x fuel points), and then purchasing my Target gift card with the Visa gift card (for 4x MORE fuel points). I've never had problems until today when I was told you couldn't purchase a gift card with another gift card. They let it slide today, but I guess I won't be doing this in the future. Boo! Great strategy that I had read here - basically giving you 8x fuel points. Even with the Visa gift card fees, it was a hefty % off.

I don't buy discounted Walmart cards, but I do earn them via Swagbucks, ibotta etc.. and then take them to Sam's Club to buy Disney or Southwest gift cards. You have your cards immediately which is nice. I bought Southwest cards there last week and was using them within the hour to book airfare.

Just piping in that I've never had so much as a sideways look for buying Disney GC's with Target GC's before. They won't give you the 5% Redcard discount in store if you are using a GC, but they will let you purchase Disney GC's with Target GC's.

We've bought a handful of gift cards from them through eBay and they've always shown up and worked. So here's hoping this one works too!

I've purchased from GiftCardMall on eBay numerous times, usually when they sell iTunes gift cards at 20% off. Never had any problems.

I've also never had problems using Target gift cards in store to purchase other gift cards.

Then consider yourselves lucky. I've talked to several employees and my local Target store who all confirm the policy not to accept Target gift cards when purchasing other gift cards. Wish I could take advantage of that like you all!

But the Disney GCs are considered "entertainment cards" and not gift cards. Maybe you could talk to a supervisor or someone in customer service?

Yeah, it seems like that poster's experience is atypical. I have heard others say from time to time that a cashier won't allow it but generally it seems to be allowed and the registers certainly allow it automatically.

Maybe try a different target if you have another one in your area?

Thanks for the eBay tip! I tried to order two about an hour ago and was told they were out of stock. Then I tried to order just one and the order went through. It won't let me buy anymore but I'm really happy with the one I got!

Edit: just tried through the mobile site & was told seller blocks buyers who exceed limit. So apparently there is a limit of 1, at least right now.
