“Dreams Come True Momma!” A 2 year old’s first trip ~ May 2015~Complete {NEW TR LINK!}

Aww very cute pics! The 7DMT train pics are always hilarious. My own just crack me up all the time too.
:thanks:

That was great you got a blanket FP! I've never even seen those. Is it only good for one ride or multiple rides in one day? Totally need one of those too hahaha.
No its a one and done FP.

The princess meets were really cute. It's too funny Little Miss liked the decor more than Rapunzel. I forsee...interior design in her future? LOL
:scratchin Maybe! :rotfl:

That is a pretty awesome first ever roller coaster! :thumbsup2
I'm glad we have on ride photos of her first coaster.

I'm glad you were able to make it work. Dug wasn't quite so lucky (spoiler for my TR :rolleyes1)
uh oh!

Of course. You just never know at this age.
::yes:::rolleyes2

We may have also received one of these, related to the above comment. So glad that the CM was so kind and able to cheer you all up! That's what makes Disney so special. pixiedust:
Well at least there's that! pixiedust:

I know, I have the hardest time controlling those cars! :headache:
Impossible I say!

Just precious! :lovestruc
One of my favorite shots.

:rotfl2: These kids are never predictable.
What's the fun in predictable? :rotfl2:

Hmmmm....45 minutes and back to the Magic Kingdom.
:rolleyes1

OMG! Her interactions with the princesses are just priceless! They are so genuine. I love that she is holding a real conversation with Cinderella...I even love her interaction with Rapunzel...it's like she is my favorite, so I am going to just be in awe of her in the room because she is so beautiful! (Ok, the looking out the window, I bet she was looking to see how tall the tower was and if Rapunzel's hair was cascading down it!)
We learned quite fast that we get better pictures and character interactions if instead of encouraging her to look at the camera we have her hug the character instead.

The leg thing (ok and the fat thing for me) scare me about the mine train. I can't bend my knees all the way, so it concerns me how comfortable it will be. But I want to try it...after all it is not a long ride, so everyone says. and I just need to do it!
I'll warn you, I'm 5'10" and I ended up having to crunch both knees and ankles quite a bit to fit in the seat.

Good for you for going on the Speedway! I can't remember the last time we went...for some reason, IHATE that ride. LOL!
It's not that bad. but if you don't have a little to enjoy it then its worth skipping for sure!

And I could ride the People Mover all day/night long! It is just so relaxing!
Me too!

And PIXIE DUST!!!! WHoo Hoo!!!! What an awesome thing to happen. It's stories like this that warm my heart and the reason I LOVE going to WDW!
pixiedust: It was very nice of that cm.

I am guessing 30 minutes to get back to the resort. I am thinking EPCOT for the evening, to roam around the food booths for dinner.
:rolleyes1

:banana:Oh! And I am in FIRST PLACE again! WHOO HOO!:dancer::banana:
:rainbow:

Last trip our son was too small for 7DMT and he was very upset about it and I think that would have been a better first roller than Barnstormer with how smooth it is.
I didn't even think of it from that perspective. I was just thinking of the fact that Mine Train has on ride pictures for documenting it.

I agree that the seats/cars on that ride are quite tight.
I don't know why they didn't make those cars just a tad bigger.

That was such a sweet thing from that CM and goes to show how little things like that can totally make the difference for a guest experience.
Indeed! pixiedust:

Such super cute pictures with Cinderella ... sorry that the meet with Repunzel wasn't quite up to expectations though
Kids will always keep you on your toes right?

What a great CM! I love when stuff like that happens.
It really was a nice moment.

More super cute character meets! Funny how Little Miss was rather meh about Rapunzel, who she most wanted to see. Kids!
:rolleyes2 At least she keeps things interesting!

I'll guess that it took 35 minutes to get back to the resort and you went to Epcot after your break. I'll also guess food booths may have factored in to the evening.
:rolleyes1

Love the Rapunzel pics! I was so excited for Charlotte to meet Cinderella (her fav at the time) and she rolled her eyes at her! I was totally surprised at her reaction!

I am so excited for the mine train and little miss did look like she was having a pretty good time.
Pretty sure she was just tired when she said she didn't. :rotfl:

Love the people mover! Always a nice relaxing ride!
Its one of my favorites as well!

Yikies. I'd never even considered this, but then again the length of my legs = no length at all
Yeah, I'd heard a few reports about this going in so I wasn't completely caught off guard.

How awesome is that. Its amazing how much a CM can make your day.
It was the best pixie dust for the moment! :wizard:

Who knew a FP wasn't always a FP. Glad they let you in.
I know right? Though to be fair when I was going back and looking through pictures I did notice that it said on the ticket that it excluded characters. Oh well.

Little Miss's face is pure and utter joy and perfection!
::yes:::wizard:

Mine was like that with her favorite Elsa. I chalked it up to being star struck more than anything else.
That may be it.

Aww! Excitement got the best of her meeting rapunzel!

I'm going to guess it took 15 minutes, and you went to Epcot after break.

How did I miss two updates??? I'm bumped down to second place! :headache:

So cool you got such good photo's of Little Miss's first coaster! She certainly looked like she was enjoying it! :rotfl:

Those Cinderella photos are so sweet! :goodvibes

I would feel star struck meeting Punzel too! ::yes::

***Bonus Time!***

- How long does it take us to get back to the resort?

-Where do we go after evening break?

I'm going to go with 25 minutes and Epcot...or maybe Magic Kingdom...darn it I want that first spot back! :headache: :lmao:

I missed another update, and i don't know how I missed it! :confused3 Great update as always, you got a wonderful variety of pictures. I'm impressed little miss went on the mine train, my children weren't that adventurous at little misses age!!
Little ones are so funny, to have her more interested in the curtains than Rapunzel is hilarious!:rotfl2:
My guess is 55 mins ( I got stuck on the monorail for 50 mins one year!) And you went to Epcot?

You optimistic people you......
So far No one has gotten the full answer. And only one of you has a been put down for a partial point and is currently set to get the only answer bonus points. And yes I will take answer changes until I post the next update. :rolleyes1 Play nice!:rotfl:

Aww! Excitement got the best of her meeting rapunzel!

:rolleyes1

How did I miss two updates??? I'm bumped down to second place! :headache:
I've gotten on a schedule of posting either on Monday or Tuesday. I'm pretty sure you answered the last question, but only one person who guessed got it right.

So cool you got such good photo's of Little Miss's first coaster! She certainly looked like she was enjoying it! :rotfl:
Its why we were okay skipping barnstormer. I was pretty happy when I saw them.

Those Cinderella photos are so sweet! :goodvibes
SOme of my favorites of the trip.

I would feel star struck meeting Punzel too! ::yes::
Maybe that was it. :rotfl:

I'm going to go with 25 minutes and Epcot...or maybe Magic Kingdom.
:rolleyes1

.darn it I want that first spot back! :headache: :lmao:
There is plenty of time before the end. Not competitive at all are we? :rotfl2:

I missed another update, and i don't know how I missed it! :confused3
I've gotten on a schedule of posting either on Monday or Tuesday. However this week I was a bit distracted when I posted and it was a few days before I edited the title of the TR to reflect the update. Maybe that's how?

Great update as always, you got a wonderful variety of pictures.
:thanks:

I'm impressed little miss went on the mine train, my children weren't that adventurous at little misses age!!
She has always been a I'll try it at least once kind of Gal. I lucked out in that arena.

Little ones are so funny, to have her more interested in the curtains than Rapunzel is hilarious!:rotfl2:
::yes:::rotfl:

I find that so funny that little Miss looked like she was really happy on the 7DMT but said she didn't like it...awesome. I'm still torn about whether my DD would like it or not...or if she'll even go on. How amazing that you got a bonus pixie dust FP+...was the CM that gave it to you just like a fairy CM or something that just goes around looking for grumpy people to try to make happy? So cool though...what a bonus that must have felt like to be able to just go wherever you wanted RIGHT NOW...planning your rides months in advance be damned lol Funny that she didn't seem as thrilled by Rapunzel as expected after talking about it so much...although that's pretty typical kid behaviour lol

That's great little miss is not afraid to try things at least once! Still sticking to 55 mins, and did you go to down town Disney?
I will keep checking in Monday or Tuesday for updates! :thumbsup2 Thanks..

That photo of Little Miss looking as though Cinderella had taken her breath away.... well that is priceless defined. :)

Love the Cinderella photos! So adorable. Your experience with her wanting to see Rapunzel all day long and then when she does, not much of a connection is why life with a toddler is just exhausting at times. You just never know what to expect with them and they moods often, just like the teenagers I teach! Ha Ha!

My guess is that it took you 42 minutes to get back to the resort. And then after your evening break you go to DtD. If you need a specific area at DtD, I will say the Lego store is one stop.

Ok so I'm trying to catch up but I have no idea where I left off before I went to South Carolina, so I'm just going with the last update!

I agree with you about SDMT. I love it, I think it's awesome, but it is SUCH a tight fit if you're not a petite little person. I'm surprised, because Disney usually doesn't have rides like that. :confused3

What an awesome CM to give you that special Fast Pass! I love CM's like that, they make Disney so much more magical than it already is!

Aww, Little Miss is so adorable with Cinderella! I can't believe she wasn't interested in Rapunzel, though! :rotfl2:

Sorry to highjack this thread but I just wanted to say, I just recently returned from a trip to South Carolina too! What a coincidence! We were in Charleston for a day, Myrtle Beach, and Columbia. My brother and sister live in SC about 40 minutes from each other.

I find that so funny that little Miss looked like she was really happy on the 7DMT but said she didn't like it...awesome.
Pretty sure she did but was just tired.

I'm still torn about whether my DD would like it or not...or if she'll even go on.
Its worth trying once. Its a very fun and smooth ride. Not scary at all really.

How amazing that you got a bonus pixie dust FP+...
pixiedust:::yes::

was the CM that gave it to you just like a fairy CM or something that just goes around looking for grumpy people to try to make happy?
I think she was there to help assist people who needed it. She talked quite a bit before she gave us one.

So cool though...what a bonus that must have felt like to be able to just go wherever you wanted RIGHT NOW...planning your rides months in advance be damned lol
::yes::

Toddlers what can you do? :rotfl:

Still sticking to 55 mins, and did you go to down town Disney?
:rolleyes1

MAYBE  :rotfl:

Okay I will say...45 minutes and that you went to WL for HDR (is that the right thing for that?) just to be different! :rotfl:
:rolleyes1

That photo of Little Miss looking as though Cinderella had taken her breath away.... well that is priceless defined. :)
Indeed! One of my favorites from the trip. ::yes::

I know! And usually the tighter fit rides are the older ones. :confused3

::yes::

Aww, Little Miss is so adorable with Cinderella! I can't believe she wasn't interested in Rapunzel, though! :rotfl2:
:rotfl: I walked in there prepared to be mom of the year for making it happen. We just had to laugh when she was more into the curtains! :rotfl:

Bus Games and Foiled Evening Plans

After our Rapunzel Meet we were now an hour later leaving the park than we had intended in our initial plans. It was almost 2pm and we were all hot and tired and ready to get back to our nice cool room and rest.

After making it out of the park we make our way to the bus stop and notice that the line has spilled out of the queue and is stretching past it. Granted part of the problem seemed to be that some folks lined up the wrong way in the queue and so space wasn’t used as intended. However it is obvious that it has been a while since a bus has been here and the chances of getting on one when it does is slim. After 5 or so minutes of standing in line a French Quarter bus pulls up across the way. Quickly we decide that we would rather walk from the French quarter back to our room then deal with the confusion and chaos of this line and hop on the practically empty bus. (Most everyone else on the bus with us followed suit). While riding the bus we remember that we won’t have to walk because the boat takes people to POR as well.

I have three regrets from doing this.

1. By the time that we got to POFQ we were so exhausted that we didn’t stop to really explore or take pictures. (Sorry @KathyM2 I thought of you and your upcoming trip while there but we were already down by the boat at that time and DH had been holding my phone and we just wanted to keep moving.)

2. We also were too hot and tired to stop to try the infamous Beignets in the food court. (I’ll try them eventually.)

3. That we didn’t just push forward and keep walking. We probably would have made it to the room faster.

We found our way to the boat dock only to see the boat we needed pull away. :headache: It was my vote at the time to just push and keep walking. (Getting out of the heat and access to more water was my priority) Instead at DH’s insistence we waited the 15-20 minutes for the boat.

FINALLY around 2 hours later we made it to the room only to open the door and discover it wasn’t cool inside the room.:headache: Little Miss is now in desperate need of her nap but is too excited about the fireworks in the head board to lay down. DH calls down to maintenance and has them send someone up however they inform us that there are now motion sensors in the rooms that will not allow the a/c to run if it doesn’t detect movement in the room.

Just as Little Miss was about to actually start to nap we get a knock on the door and the first maintenance lady comes in fools around with the switch does mostly nothing but verify that things are broken and sends for a second repairman to come and then leaves. She stays just long enough that Little Miss is once again strongly fighting her nap.

Once again just as Little Miss starts to fall asleep we get a knock on the door. This time it’s a pair of Maintenance men with a completely new a/c unit. They switch out the unit fiddle more with the switch and stay just long enough to ensure that Little Miss will be getting no nap in today.

After they leave its now 4:30 and we need to be back at the bus stop in an hour if we are going to be following to our evening plans.

5pm rolls around Little Miss has still had no nap and is now extremely fussy. A nap is just out of the equation at this point. The idea of touring a park with her in this state is not a great one. Extremely reluctantly on my part it is decided that we will have to skip going to our evening park tonight and shift it to tomorrow night therefore throwing out our chance to meet up with @cajunfan for the next night.

At 6pm, we decide that since we still need dinner and we never did get to DTD the day before, we will just strike out there do dinner look around just a little and then come back to the room for an early night. Little Miss in her fussiness refuses to have her tails put back in so instead of fight her on it I simply put one of the bows onto the clip on loop on her mickey ears and plop it on her head. She’s happy and the hair is out of her face and at least one of the bows is still getting use. Figuring it’s as good as I will get we move on.

After not too terrible a wait we find ourselves on the boat.

And before too long we find ourselves here

20150507_185555_zpslciw0vzp.jpg

We ended up eating at Wolfgang Pucks this night. While good, none of us really thought it was out of this world good. After dinner we look around a little and stop in Goofy’s Candy Kitchen for some custom treats. I was bummed when I saw that they’ve started taking short cuts with the crispy treats and now only coat one side of them. Seeing that made me feel better about the fact that I wasn’t allowed to have one thanks to the oral surgery before the trip. I tried an apple instead. (Can’t say I’m impressed.) We got our treats to go and went to head back to the boats. We turned the corner to get to the boat dock and saw that the line to return to POR and POFQ was beyond HUGE and decided to simply take the bus instead.

We found ourselves back in our rooms by 9:30 and were asleep quickly.

Step Count for the Day: 14,600

***Bonus Time!***

- Where are we headed in the morning?

- Where is our ADR for tomorrow?

- What song was played on the bus on the way, and why did we find it odd? (9 point answer)

ugh, Disney transportation at it's worse. It is great when things go smoothly, but (especially when it is hot and you just want to get back to your room) just missing a but or boat or something can make it take forever!

Huge bummer about the problem with the AC and how the maintenance people impacted Little Miss' nap. I think the bow on the ears looked great - and definitely was one of the "pick your battle" moments.

Sorry you were less than thrilled with the food you got at DTD - was it the full Wolfgang Puck's or the Express? Seems people enjoy the Express better

Do love your husband's "It's a trap" shirt :thumbsup2

I'll guess that you are going to Animal Kingdom, with ADR at Tusker House and the song played on the buss was "Happy" which is odd as it is from Despicable Me 2 which is a Universal related movie.

(Sorry @KathyM2 I thought of you and your upcoming trip while there but we were already down by the boat at that time and DH had been holding my phone and we just wanted to keep moving.)

Hey that's so sweet of you to think of us at all!! Not to worry.. lol. I can totally understand just wanting to get a move on lol

We also were too hot and tired to stop to try the infamous Beignets in the food court.

Now THAT is disspointing...I'm glad for the spoiler that you did eventually try them...they are definitely on my list.

will not allow the a/c to run if it doesn’t detect movement in the room.

Sooo...it goes off when you are sleeping?? WTH?

just as Little Miss starts to fall asleep we get a knock on the door.

Ugh...that must have been soooo frustrating. Reminds me of when my kids were little and had to nap and there was construction going on next door...it drove me nuts because they always used to finish their lunch and start back up just as the kids were trying to fall asleep. That's not fun.

throwing out our chance to meet up with @cajunfan for the next night.

Oh noooo!! That's really too bad. A DISmeet would have been awesome. But you know your kid and it probably wouldn't have been fun at all to try to power through your plans. That's the thing about making these detailed plans that drives me nuts...things like that can happen...and while you know you are making the right choice by abandoning them sometimes...it's frustrating because you put so much effort into the planning, and sometimes you miss things if you don't follow the plan. I'm glad it seemed to turn out to be a decently fun night anyway...but sorry to hear about the cheap out on the rice krispy treats lol

Yea...Bonus Time! I'm going with Animal Kingdom in the morning with an ADR at Tusker House. Song....how about It's a Small world :)

That sounds like a nightmare of transportation! :scared1: Little Miss' ears are the cutest! Glad you managed to salvage the evening at DTD. Sometimes changing plans ends up being the best thing to do to save your sanity. We were disappointed to see that Goofy's discontinued the pretzel rods. They were always my favourite, with white chocolate and caramel and all sorts of stuff all over them. The crispy treats are good, but not my favourite. You didn't miss much. ;)

My answers (I'm confident on the first two! Let's see if it pays off...) I'll go with that you're going to DHS in the morning and having breakfast at the Hollywood and Vine Disney Junior breakfast. As for the song on the bus... I'm gonna take a shot into left field and say the Harry Potter theme played on the bus and you were confused because it's not a Disney-owned franchise! (At Pop we got all kinds of weird music so this is a total guess!)

Pretty Much. I think we've decided to just drive ourselves. The transportation doesn't seem to save much frustration at times.

Huge bummer about the problem with the AC and how the maintenance people impacted Little Miss' nap.
Yeah, the a/c was never resolved in a way that made us comfortable, we just gave up on them getting it better. It shutting off when it doesn't detect movement thing was the worst!

I think the bow on the ears looked great - and definitely was one of the "pick your battle" moments.
::yes:: I know she would have been more comfy if I could have scooped the hair out of her face but what can you do right?

Sorry you were less than thrilled with the food you got at DTD - was it the full Wolfgang Puck's or the Express? Seems people enjoy the Express better
It wasn't dissapointing I think it had more to do with how much WPE has been talked up on the dis that it just couldn't live up to expectations.

Do love your husband's "It's a trap" shirt :thumbsup2
Glad to hear it. THere have been some that are confused by it. You'll have an appreciation of Little Miss's new catch phrase. (Video to come soon. ) :rotfl:

I'll guess that you are going to Animal Kingdom, with ADR at Tusker House and the song played on the buss was "Happy" which is odd as it is from Despicable Me 2 which is a Universal related movie.
:rolleyes1

Nope that was an I'll try them someday because they are on my list to try.

Sooo...it goes off when you are sleeping?? WTH?
::yes::::yes::::yes:: And because we are hot natured and used to sleeping with a fan it was very noticeable to us and is a serious consideration for staying off site on our next trip. I don't know if the same system has been installed at POFQ. I'll be looking forward to hearing what your experience is when you get back.

Ugh...that must have been soooo frustrating. Reminds me of when my kids were little and had to nap and there was construction going on next door...it drove me nuts because they always used to finish their lunch and start back up just as the kids were trying to fall asleep. That's not fun.

Well our plans all had back up plans and nothing scheduled in the evening except for Mother's day that was "MUST DO" It was just a bummer for our first day.

Yea...Bonus Time! I'm going with Animal Kingdom in the morning with an ADR at Tusker House. Song....how about It's a Small world :)
:rolleyes1

That sounds like a nightmare of transportation! :scared1:
::yes:::crazy2:

Little Miss' ears are the cutest!
:thanks: I tweaked them so that I could change out the bow.

Glad you managed to salvage the evening at DTD. Sometimes changing plans ends up being the best thing to do to save your sanity.
It was indeed one of those times. We could have pushed through and stuck to the plan but I know we would have regretted it.

We were disappointed to see that Goofy's discontinued the pretzel rods. They were always my favourite, with white chocolate and caramel and all sorts of stuff all over them. The crispy treats are good, but not my favourite. You didn't miss much. ;)
Good to know I wasn't missing anything. I kinda figured I wasn't when i saw how they were doing them.

My answers (I'm confident on the first two! Let's see if it pays off...) I'll go with that you're going to DHS in the morning and having breakfast at the Hollywood and Vine Disney Junior breakfast.
