Debt Dumpers - 2015

I used to take name brand children's clothes to a resale shop. They paid me 50% of what they sold it for. Then they raised their take to 60%. When it hit 70% I decided I would rather donate it than earn 30%. Sort of a principle thing for me. So you might check around and see what percent different stores will give you.
I did this too when my boys were little and I didn't mind overspending on their clothes. lol. (Then we found Kohls!)
We had a great consignment store a few towns over that would take everything and I'd get 50%. The clothes had to be immaculate though. Then by the time ds15 was starting school, he was pretty hard on his things so it barely went 1-2 wearings before it had stains. That's when I gave up on consigning. lol

Great job!! I can't wait to see my balances on two cc's go to zero once my house sale is final! 10 days and counting!! :woohoo:
Congrats! So you're excited to be homeless next week? lol. Ah, the lengths we'll go to pay off these stinkin' bills.

We're still looking at mid-late Sept to have all of our CCs paid off. That's assuming ds18 doesn't get a job and therefore need a car. He put in another app at a local car wash. He really does need some work experience but a tiny part of me would love to take that chunk of $ and pay off more bills. I haven't been pushing him a lot with applying for jobs because school has been kicking his butt.
Ds15 hasn't been such a PITA now and I found a great rate at the Yacht Club over our 4 day weekend off in Sept with the Orbitz promo code.
I try to shush it but it calls to me.
Come. Swim in my awesome pool.....

Well, good luck to you in finding the right treatment. I wouldn't give up on the trip just yet. You never know; it may just work itself out. Once I wasn't in excruciating pain anymore, I found it was best to keep active. It seemed the more I laid around the less I felt able to do.
Does the MRI show a bulging or herniated disk? I found it amazing that something so tiny could cause so much agony.
Hang in there. It does get better.

Thanks!! I'm not giving up yet. I have reservations for hotels on the way down (and back) that require a 24 hour notice to cancel, so my "deadline" is Friday afternoon June 5 on deciding if I feel I can make it or not.

And I completely understand about being active. I just don't want to push to far, to fast. I've done that before with a different knee issue, and the setback was almost worse than the original problem.

They did the MRI almost 2 years ago, and couldn't find anything. It may not be from the same issue, but considering that it affects the same part of my body, and the similarities in pain I think that those were early warning signs. At the time, they said they couldn't see anything wrong. But, also at the time I would only have the burning pain for a couple of hours, and usually after I had been working my 2nd job (that requires that I stand and walk on concrete floors for 8 hours at a time). The general (unofficial) consensus back then was that A) it was probably in my head and B) if I lost some weight it wouldn't bother me if it was real and C) I just needed to be more active to begin with. Not going to say that any of those were particularly wrong (except #A), but I don't think they really believed just how much pain I was in at the time. Except for the fact that it only lasted a couple of hours at a time, it was identical to what I've been dealing with for the past 2 weeks continuously.

I'm hanging. And I certainly hope it gets better.

So sorry Dayv! I hope that they figure out your back issues & find something that will help with the pain. I'm also so bummed for you about the trip!! I hope you get better & get to go. I need a new TR of yours to read....

On the plus side, if I do decide to try the trip anyway, I doubt I'll be spending quite as much time in the parks each day, so I can do my TR as it happens, rather than putting it together a couple of weeks later ...

Ah man, I hope you don't have to cancel your trip Dayvewc! Is your back feeling any better today? It sounds like the chiropractor is helping a bit so that's good!

ONE OF THE WORST DAYS EVER!!!!!!

We had a storm here, a GIANT tree from my neighbors house fell on my house. I have a hole in my garage & my bedroom roof- rain coming inside. My bed saturated in rain water. My skylight cracked in my den. My patio set & grille smashed to smithereens. My big paver patio stones upturned like tombstones. Plus the giant tree overtaking my yard.

I was in my bedroom when it happened. I thought I was going to die, honest to God. I have been crying all day as I was so scared.

Oh & the icing on the cake, we have to pay the $1000 deductible for my neighbors tree on my home as it's an act of God situation.

Oh my god, Angeejoe - SO glad you are okay!! I'm so sorry about all of the damage to your house and that you have to pay that deductible... man, how awful. Again, so happy you are okay though!

Thank you. I'm still so upset.

So glad that your okay!!!! That had to be super scary. That is the one thing I dislike about insurance - how they classify it. Even though it's an act of God it's their tree. It's ashame they won't pay your deductible or put the claim through their insurance company. Did they talk to you at all? Maybe your insurance company can put a claim against theirs so you can get your money back?

Friggin' insurance, can't believe you have to pay $1k :(

My back is feeling better. Still pains me some, but nothing like what it has been. Right now my knee is causing me more pain than my back, so it is looking hopeful that I'll be able to go. After the session with the chiropractor yesterday, he seemed to think that there has been enough improvement so far that by the time we finish the sessions next week I should be able to go with minimal problems. Fingers crossed!!

I have an appointment with an orthopedic office next Thursday after all my chiropractic sessions for the week. If I'm feeling better, and the chiropractor thinks I'll make it, then I'm planning to go unless the orthopedic comes out strongly against.

Thanks you guys, it was a very traumatic event. It's just so overwhelming. We're still waiting on the adjuster to come. He said that they're backed up due to storm yesterday. They may not be able to come until Saturday :scared1:. At least the recovery team was out yesterday & there's no water coming in currently.

Gracie- the neighbors never even checked on me!!!! If that tree came down any further into the house, it would've be on me in bed. My husband was at work. No one would would've known I was trapped until my husband gets off of work. That's what's giving me chills. And yes they were home. They were in their backyard when my husband pulled up. They never said a word. I think they don't want to get roped in & be held liable.

So glad that you're OK. And how crappy of your neighbors to not even check to see if you needed medical assistance. Hopefully, they were simply in shock as well and didn't know how to react.

I see you are in Toledo! Are you he one I saw on 13abc? If so, that was really nasty looking. I'm in NW ohio...so get 13abc. I'd definitely check with your agent about your deductible. It's still your neighbors property and they should have to be liable for it. But you might have to do as someone else said...pay your deductible...your insurance. Takes the claim and the. They go after your neighbors insurance for the. Money back.

I can't believe they never even said a word!! Forget about liability - that's just wrong!!! And I would really talk to the insurance company - that is their property.

Thanks Gr8t, it was a scary situation. I'm generally a person that hopes for the best in people, but you would think at the very least when my husband rushed home & I came out to him WHILE the neighbors were working in their backyard (not weather related work, they're building a deck) they would've said something. They ignored us.

We did tell our insurance that it was the neighbors tree, they said it's an act of God & the neighbors arent liable. We will bring it up again when the adjuster comes out. Not one branch hit their property. I have crappy luck.

K Reile- it was not me on 13 ABC, but there was tons of trees down around me according to the recovery team. They had more houses around me to go to. Do you live in Toledo?

Yeah, that's just wrong. I would try to find a way to stick them with the bill quite frankly. It was a tree on their property - no way you should have to pay a dime. It's sounds like they are self absorbed people. I would be pissed!

Yeah, I'm not fans of them right now!
