Hey, disneydude! Your trip is pretty close now, right?

Do you plan to go through the new line at Peter Pan or skip it and go through the fast pass line?

There is a link on the main page of the Disboards that show pictures of the sceens and items displayed throughout the regular line.

yes we are getting so excited its about 12 days away!!, no fast pass made for peter pan, mostly because yes i want to see the new line!

Another wonderful character interaction we had was with Mulan at Akershus at lunch.

She loved the idea that my daughter and I were on a girls' bonding trip. She talked about girl power and then showed Haley how to pose. Here is the photo

that sounds like a great meet! i really need to try an find characters in epcot! won't be on this trip sadly but there are so many characters over there that until about a year ago i didn't know!

DisneyDude,

You are only 5 days away now, right?

What is the first thing you plan to do after you check into your resort?

3 days actually, we leave Wednesday should arrive around 6-7pm my friend will be flying down should arrive around 8-9pm the 17th.

I'm honestly not sure what we want to do that night depending on how tired we are from the drive will probably find something to eat then just relax in our room haha. Now the next morning we have a breakfast reservation for ohana! So I'm looking forward to that! I guess first thing I'll do is see if card got linked to my magic band correctly for purchases!

Just Friday I was in a bad wreck I'm ok could have been very worse my car was totaled, some guy didn't look when getting off interstate and plowed into me. I was shook up an Saturday I got hit with aftershocks and have had lingering head aches but feel better each passing day

So do the characters face or masked enjoy getting pictures and interacting with older fans (like me for example 22 year old guy, but I'll admit look younger) or do they prefer us to move along so they can get to the younger guests?

I can understand in lines you get looks from other guests like why are you taking up times from my actaual kid? I see it as we're all children in Disney but not sure if the characters are just being nice to older because they have to or if they honestly don't mind. I'll be honest I've always loved characters don't think the magic will ever wear off and would hate to think they might treat you slightly different due to age.

Any advice or anyone who's been friends with characters have any insight?

its technically not a meet and greet but i am slightly older than you and was walking by myself at epcot. "mary poppins" was walking alone to her spot from the international gateway area as i was walking the opposite way. she linked arms as we passed, turned me around and walked with me for a few minutes over the bridge. my wife just happened to be on the side we were walking to and got some great pictures. so, this person obviously didn't care about my age.

My sister, 29, dressed up like Olaf last week and the interactions were awesome. And Winnie the Pooh hugged my Dad at CP. I think they enjoy it! And I saw Pooj hug an adorable older gentleman at lunch too. I say go for it and have fun!

We have had wonderful experiences up until today when we met Anna. Elsa was wonderful, enjoyed the handmade books as most of the characters loved them. But Anna today just seemed to want to move everyone along. She seemed a bit rude to the families before ours and actually witnessed a little girl cry outside because she thought anna was supposed to be bubbly... But this one just wasn't that way. It wasn't a magical experience for some of the princesses today.

This summer I took my parents (mom-53 and dad-51) to WDW for the first time. I was so worried because you could tell leading up I was way more excited than they were. The first day I was practically killing them with my commando touring. Poor mom was having a rough go of it because she has a bad foot, which causes her to favor one leg and her hip hurts, which in turn makes her walk crooked and her back hurts. It had to be around 2-3 pm, hot as can be, sweltering with humidity. We were kinda lulling around sir mickeys (mom needed a smoke break). I start to go in the gift shop and hear my dad yell my name. I turn around and he points and there goes my mom booking it after fairy godmother. We start after her but she is moving too fast. We see fairy gm go through the cm door and mom turns around sad faced "she went through the door!" The handler calls out that gm will be back in 30 minutes...well mom says she is goi to be first in line and wait for her. So i go back to my shopping around and picture taking, the castle show starts (we are behind the castle but can see around the side near adventure and). I come out and mom excitedly tells me that the princesses waved at her when they came off stage. Finally fairy gm comes back and mom has the most excited and happy part of her day and probably the trip. Great pics!

Then I have to say we had a great interaction with tigger and pooh at Epcot in the uk. Pooh hung the picture mat on his nose. Mom told him I put honey on my pancakes and tigger gestured no and pointed to poohs tummy meaning he couldn't have any, was too pudgy. And then tigger kept giving us smooches and purring.

I'm crying remembering how great it was.

I took my first Disney trip at 12 so I've always been interacting with characters as an older guest! The only disapproval I've ever encountered was a couple cranky guests but I think of it as them not truly understanding that Disney Magic is for everyone!

Some of the best ones from over the years... Merida was fantastic. My best friend got me a giant stuffed bear (like one of her little brothers) for my 18th birthday which I brought along with me to the parks on our next trip to take pictures with. Merida loved him and brought him to show to the animatronics of her brothers, who all retreated into their baskets and wouldn't come out until I agreed to hold the new bear! :rotfl2:

I had fantastic interactions back when Rapunzel met with Flynn (seriously wishing they'd bring him back to WDW! He's my favourite Disney guy.), he gave me the smoulder and I got to see the crown that was in his satchel after they made sure I wasn't hanging out with ruffians or thugs and that I didn't smell like the colour brown. :lmao: Tiana and Naveen are also great, very enthusiastic about me being from the Land of Poutine, and asking ton of questions about how often we have poutine and where they serve it. They were so much fun every time we've gone!

And one of the best ones was when Mom and I met Tigger and Pooh in 2009 in the UK store. They horsed around with us for at least five minutes, taking tons of pictures, posing, and Tigger pulling me by the hand out the back door so we could dance to the band playing! :rotfl2: They pulled down these huge plush toys of themselves and were passing them to each other and between us, so we have these big plushes of Tigger and Pooh in our photos. They're hilarious, if I had them on this computer I would post because they are the greatest!

Chip and Dale love horsing around with guests too, they're my Mom's favourite so she always gets some time with them. I've never really had characters snub me because I'm an adult before: I think that, as many PPs said, that because adults are not likely to be afraid of them, they can carry on conversations with face characters that come as a breath of fresh air to their "friends" :goodvibes

We waited in line for Gaston (my girls and I) and when it was our turn, I stepped aside to where the photographer was to take photos, and had no intention of posing with him. When the girls were done, Gaston said "ok, now the other sister" and pulled me over to him. He then explained to all the guys "see what I did there men? She is OBVIOUSLY the mother, but I called her the sister so she would fall in love with me" And then he proceeded to pull me close, lift my sunglasses and stare into my eyes and wiggle his eyebrows.

SO much fun - I've never not felt comfortable with the characters!

SAME!! I'm only 17 and I encountered some condescending princesses this trip.

Two of my three cinderella experiences were bad. My first one (1900PF), she rushed to our table, signed my little sister's book, said something about a glass slipper and dashed to the next table, then played around with a baby for like ten minutes. The second one wasn't bad. It was Akershus the day afterwards and she was actually pretty sweet. The third time was at PFTH and she was really condescending. She asked me where my family was and I said they were at the hotel and she said "oh". ?????

My Belle experiences were okay. She was pretty sweet but not very engaging/interested in my sister and I both times. The first time, we had a short conversation about books at Akershus. The second time, I did Enchanted Tales with Belle (alone), and I was Mrs. Potts, and she thanked me very sincerely for acting out the story.

I agree with you on Ariel, Aurora, Merida, and ESPECIALLY Anna. Which is good, because Ariel is my favorite princess and she is AMAZING every time I see her. She's so funny and sweet! Anna and I said "chocolate" at the same time and we both shared the same excited look, which was a really magical moment for us. Aurora was great, too. Merida was so kind to me because I was the last to meet her that day due to inclement weather. Welcomed me with a hug. The CAs were rushing us, so she was very apologetic for being rushed. We share the same kind of hair, so she also said "and you know how our hair gets in this kind of weather" and such. She told me she maintained it with spring water.

I agree, I have always felt weird meeting Cinderella and some other princesses because they didn't seem to really want to interact with me (20) and my sis (27). The exceptions being Ariel, always been great, Rapunzel and Tiana, Tiana loves the fact that we're from the south, and Anna and Elsa love that we're sisters and always have a good time with that!! Belle, like you, I have found to be so-so. When we met her in her blue dress in France she seemed more open, maybe because she was more comfortable lol!!

However, we had the BEST interaction with Cinderella at the Halloween Party last year. She was very talkative and asked us where our castles were. Then, my sister asked to switch sides with me for a picture because we have our "good sides" the sides our nose rings are on. Cinderella was very interested and started trying to figure out which side was her good side. Then she spent a few minutes marveling at our nose rings saying that "she wondered if Fairy Godmother could get her a sparkle in her nose!" lol It was great!!

We're both older and love character interactions!! Have fun OP!

I'm sure they don't mind.
I bet there is specific types of people they mind (same with kids) that do, say or act in a certain way-the same way any of us may roll our eyes with a certain type of encounter with someone at work be it a college or customer but i'm sure just a general friendly adult is just fine.

I certainly enjoy meeting them and my kids are a convenient excuse :)

As I usually travel to WDW solo, I've had MANY character interactions and none of them have minded that I'm an "older" (31) guest. One of my favorites was Merida. She's absolutely my favorite princess and I asked her about her brothers, and she got so excited. She also noticed that I happened to be wearing "tartan" shorts that day.

One of my top interactions EVER was with Peter Pan & Wendy in Dec of '13. I was with my aunt and nieces and we had just gotten off of PPF and were walking through the Tangled restroom area towards HM & spotted them looking for Pascal. Nobody else had seemed to notice them yet, so we walked up to them and were helping them look. Then, told my nieces to follow them and they skipped towards their M&G spot, where they were told to sing I'm a Little Tea Pot and were made Lost Girls for life! lol

Great thread!

For us, most of the time, we had a great experiences with live characters, even if we were adults only. They would always chat with us, asking questions about where we come from and which language we speak together (we're french canadian).

With that being said, we did have less fun experiences, they were just taking the picture, barely speaking to us... Worst has always been Character Meals.

What a great experience for your nieces. It is nice to see they shoed their Disney side!

I've only had two bad experiences, and one I think was just an honest mistake, but it kinda made me a little self conscious. At Akershus, I was about 24 and with my family, I'm single and at the the time I had gone through a pretty nasty break up. Cinderella came over and asked where my Prince Charming was..... It was super awkward. I pretty much quietly said "I don't have one" and must've looked super upset because she got super flustered and just walked away.

Only other one was Lilo at Ohana who got a little shovey trying to get a photo set up and didn't spend much time w us, but it wasn't too serious.

My favorites were captain jack sparrow, who got scared at my name (no my last name is not swann) and I had a "I'm celebrating" button for getting my masters in criminal justice (no I won't turn you in). He thought I was fun and loves my silver Minnie ears and then dragged my mother into the picture.

Chip and dale kept giving me kisses at Garden grill and drew a picture for my friend on a piece of paper she had been absentmindedly scribbling on. They spent a good amount of time with us and became the mascots of our trip this past October.

My favorites were Stitch and Mickey at Ohana. My friends must've told someone at the desk how I had been waiting months to meet them, and they both came up behind me and surprised me. And gave me big hugs. I almost cried I was so happy, so they spent a ton of time with us too, tons of pictures, we told them about how we were doing the race, and stitch tried to stay with us.

Others were good were Merida and Rapunzel. Rapunzel gave me a special birthday hug which was amazing, and Merida loved that I had red hair and i and her handler got her accidentally break character when the handler noticed I had a doctor who/brave mash up shirt on.

He went "knock knock"
Merida looked confused and went whose there?
"Doctor"
"doctor who?"
Then the handler pointed at my shirt and Merida started doing that princess laugh that turned into a real laugh. It was great and made my day.

Charachter meals can be rushed at times I agree we had lilo at ohana as well she was nice though however, several years ago we ran into her as she was walking down Main Street and she totally ignored us lol I assumed she was going to go take a nap, or was late for hula lessons lol

Funny she realized the reference of dr who!!

I need to try and meet those two princess's as hear a lot of good stories!
