Magic Bands 101

Ok I know I've seen this but double checking, can you link gift cards to the band??

Preparing for my Dec trip & first time using the magic bands and have a question. We are there 5 days and have a 4 day hopper and a MVMCP ticket. The day of the party we aren't going into another park prior to that. My question is two fold:
1. Should we use the physical tickets to enter the party, instead of our magic bands? I don't want to scan our band at 4pm to get into the party and instead of it reading the party ticket it reads a day from our hopper.

2. Although the party officially starts at 7pm, I know we can get into the park at 4pm. Can we schedule fastpasses for 4-7pm?

Thanks!

As long as you go through the separate entrance for party guests, you should be able to scan either you MB or you physical ticket, so it's your choice. Yes, you can schedule FP from 4-7.

If the battery has died, would the band still appear as active in MDE? Is there any way to tell ahead of time if it is still working?

MDX cannot sense the battery status of a MagicBand. It is unlikely that any particular MagicBand issued thus far has had its battery die already.

I confirm it is a plain brown box.

Very glad to read this! We are surprising our kids and the last thing we need arriving in the mail is a huge Mickey box. I already had to intercept the Incredibles Mickey mailing that mentioned our Incredible vacation -eek!

Forgive me if these have been covered:
1. Do the MBs get shipped as soon as the date that they must be customized arrives?
2. How long does shipping usually take?
3. If I select "Done" under the MB screen on the MDE will they ship out then or still wait for the finalization date to pass?
4. How wide are the bands on the plain area not at the Mickey head area?
5. We have a large community group of mailboxes that are locked and I assume about average size. Do you think a box of 4 MBs will fit in the mailbox?

Sorry for the mass amount of questions but THANKS for any help you can offer!

4. The colored area (not counting the gray border) is about 3/4 inches wide at its widest and then it tapers from there.

5. Mine were delivered by FedEx. If your community mailbox has the large, locked parcel boxes, the MB box will fit in one of those.

Hello all.

I have always hated to start a question with "this is probably a stupid question," but here goes........

This may be, blah, blah, blah. Since I have not planned a trip since 2012, I am totally Magic Band illiterate. I have read the MB-101 info and I do understand what all is stored on the bands.

My question is......Is there a separate charge for the bands in addition to the ticket prices, the MNSSHP or MNSSCP, photo passes, DDP, etc? I am trying to plan for everything that we will be budgeting for and I haven't seen anything about a price for the bands themselves.

Thanks for your help.

MagicBands are available for $12.95 plus tax at Disney theme parks and Downtown Disney area. However, you will receive a MagicBand at no extra cost if you stay at any of the Disney Resort hotels or if you are a Walt Disney World Passholder.

Thank you JCarroll518. That was the answer I was fairly sure I was going to get, but thought I should double check on.

Much appreciated.

My trip is coming up pretty quickly (10/2 arrival date!!!) and MDE still says our bands haven't shipped... has anyone had an issue with MBs not arriving on time?

Thanks!!

We are leaving next week and we recieved our MagicBands almost 3 weeks ago. You should call and see where they are and if you chose colors and personalized them then the only ones available at check in are the grey ones unless you go to someplace and buy them.
Good luck

My apologies if I am asking a repetitive question here. I am a little lost and confused :confused3trying to figure out a split stay. We will be staying at SOG resort April 2015, and we have happily discovered that we will be able to arrive 2 days early. I am about to book 2 nights at AoA, which would make us eligible for magic bands. Since we plan on purchasing military discount tickets in advance through SOG, does anyone know if we will be able to link those tickets to the magic bands, or would we have to purchase the tickets through Disney? Also, would we be able to book FP+ 60 days out for our 2 days at AoA?

This mostly answers question I was going to ask too apart from the fact we are staying at Fort W. as we have an RV and our tickets are being bought here in New Zealand. So, do we still get a band each when we arrive or only if we buy our entry tickets through our resort? And since we are international and they won't ship them to us, we would pick them up when we arrive so how do we customise them 10 days out if we're not getting them until the day? It appears we need one if we want to buy the MM to get all our photos and the 2 adults can buy one and link them if need be but am I to understand the 5 of us will get them if we camp our RV at FW? Confused!! TIA

You do get them at FW, everyone on the reservation will recove one. I'm not sure how it works if they are not shipped. You could try calling FW front desk, they will be able to help:) have a great trip!

Yes and no.

Yes, military tickets can be added to MDE for use on your magic band. However, when you order tickets from SOG, they don't mail them to you, they are picked at their ticket office after arrival. You can only add them when you have them in hand, you will not be able to make FP+ reservations 60 days out. You have to physically scan the barcode from the military salute ticket into the MDE app or type the bar code number into the website. You are better off getting tickets from your local ITT ASAP.

1. Everyone who stays on property gets magic bands. It has nothing to do with where you purchase your tickets.

2. Everyone customizes them on line. It's just that for international customers they're sent to the resort instead of to their home.

3. Magic bands are not necessary to buy Memory Maker; people who are staying off site can purchase it, and while they can buy magic bands if they want to, they don't have to.
