Beware menu changes at LeCellier

The first bad sign was the lighted menu is gone and replaced by a short paper menu. The filet with wild mushroom risotto and truffle cream, the dish that made LeCellier famous, is history. The mushroom risotto was replaced by a pea risotto abomination for a few weeks. This week the pea risotto was replaced by an equally unappetizing spinach and bacon risotto. The truffle butter sauce is now purported to be Parmesan but was so tasteless, or overpowered by the risotto travesty that it was hard to tell. This week the bone-in ribeye was also replaced by a smaller boneless ribeye. The wait staff was obviously stressed fielding questions. If you've never been, the meat is still good and you might like it. If you have LeCellier memories, save your 2 tickets

My 180 days out is tomorrow. I was planning on being up for the 6 am reservation window just for the Le Cellier reservation. Now, I'm not sure.

My window is coming up soon too. I am with you, I am rethinking a reservation here. The filet is my favorite and my husband's favorite is the ribeye.

I would rather pay more for better quality than support the continual slide into mediocrity that is aparently required to make WDW restaurants fit DDP. :crowded: I am so sad to hear this about LeCellier. We were planning to go Christmas and pay OOP. Now, not sure :worried:

We had lunch at Le Cellier on June 9 and it was delicious even though my steak was more well done than rare. At $43 I guess I should have sent it back but I'm a wuss. Alyshia, our server was from BC and she was a doll. We shared the house poutine as the lobster poutine is now gone from the menu. The biggest surprise was that lunch for 2 adults, my boyfriend and me, cost us $265 with tip. That was more expensive than our dinner at Yatchsman Steakhouse the night before!

1) Alas, most people are not.
2) They see DDP and just go for the pig-out.
. . . most expensive items, and/or
. . . largest portion items
3) Then, they even rave about the quality.
4) It is a shame.
5) But, as long as people buy DDP, the slide in quality will continue.

This is sad and makes me want to stay away from Le Cellier, at least in the near future.

We've heard it's going to change to an Outback Steakhouse. Don't know if that is accurate or not but heard le cellier will close and be refurbished. It will reopen as an Outback. This may be why some menu changes.

That was an April Fools joke...

Every single change that this place makes just continues its slide downward. First two credit dinner, then two credit lunch, then they dumbed down the menu, and now they're doing it again.

Such a shame. The dinner I had there in 2008 was the single best meal I have ever had in my life. The roasted chicken. Why in the world did they take it off the menu!!!

Why do they continue to screw around??

Was disappointed in LeCellier last time we ate there.....and we have eaten there every visit for at least 15 years.
I now love the filet at HBD, so get my steak fix there.

:lmao::lmao:

So sad! That filet with the mushroom risotto was heavenly.
If it isn't broken, why do they keep trying to fix it?

Yeah, you guys are undoubtedly right, it's "dumbing down for the dining plan".
Such a shame...

...

I guess they think something is broken in their bottom line? :sad2:

Family discussion has just led us to change our plan to Biergarten for dinner. Christmas Polka, here I come! :rotfl2:

Sad. We haven't been back to Le Cellier since it turned into a signature… just not worth the increased price but the Mushroom fillet was our favourite.

They really need to start from scratch here. Just charging 2 credits without making the dining room nicer (mostly tables not crammed together) was my first issue with it. My second issue is that everything from apps, quality of the meat, and nicer details on the desserts that you find at EVERY other signature restaurant are totally missing here. I won't waste dining credits or cash here anymore ever unless there are big changes.

I agree. :sad2:

I decided a while ago that when I do end up going there, it will be just for the cheese soup & an order of Poutine. So looks like my plan is still good. :thumbsup2

I have a reservation for November. If it's not the mushroom risotto then I will cancel. People book these reservations because they liked the food they have had there in the past and want it again. Why do they keep doing this?

This makes me so sad. I worked there back in '04-'05 and was so proud of the amazing reputation and rating it had. I wonder if its just the current chef wanting to make his mark by changing things.

I thought about going for lunch on our next trip but it would be for pretzel bread, cheese soup and the maple creme brûlée only.
