I recently sliced my index finger with a razor. Made so typing on my computer has been very difficult.
Currently using my iphone as I only need my thumbs to type. Ha ha!
I will reply soon as well as update from march and early may.
I'm also planning our memorial weekend trip and have both Star Wars character meals planned!

Noticed in one pic, Emme is doing the peace sign just like her mama.
Have to ask, where do you get your custom shirts made for Emme, looking for ideas for our next Disney trip.

AGREED!! too much meat (can't believe i'd say that about a disney meal).
i had a great DISmeet...just too short.
i had my doubts too as i have read so many bad reviews but for a kids meal...it is perfect for emme. it's a bunch of food for $5.99! plus, it's air conditioned. we like to sit on the second floor. there's also a bathroom upstairs so it's super convenient.
i think it is a total steal for a kids QS.

how exciting to be traveling to disney again...and this time...kid free! that's fantastic. will this be your first time going without your family & just your DH?
from my experience at 1900 PF, even if you arrive early, you still always wait past your ADR. when you arrive late, you still wait. seems like you are always waiting before getting your table but the buffet.
however, once you get to your table..it's pretty smooth sailing. i really enjoy the buffet there...it's one of my favorites at disney.
i'm envious of your split stay...i don't stay on site too often especially when it's just emme & me. enjoy!!

i had some custom star wars shirts made for the trip. we are so excited! emme's purple light saber (yeah mace windu!) arrived today & i'm going to surprise her next week (pending she is time out free & keeps the stars by her name at school).
i think i'm also going to eat all QS on this trip minus these 2 ADR's. i want to just be FREE and not be tied down to adr's since we don't have too much time in disney as we are just there for the holiday.
i have all these adr's reserved (i'm an ADR hoarder) but i'm thinking of cancelling all them...however the disney planner in me is panicking internally about doing that.
my index finger is so much better now...thanks for the positive vibes!

HELLO AKL JAMBO HOUSE + BOMA DINNER!
march was my longest trip ever to disney. we spent 9 days & 8 nights & did split stays at AKL JAMBO HOUSE, OLD KEY WEST & my favorite resort, the royal guest room @ port orleans: riverside. we shared our room with rachel & her sister jessica. needless to say, this was such a fantastic experience & makes me sad that for the most part, i can only spend long weekends at disney.
also, rachel has said that she would participate in the "tandem dining reviews" whenever we shared a meal during the trip. two perspectives at one ADR is pretty neat...we had so much fun doing this last april.
emme & i began the 2 hour drive after i flew home from atlanta for a photography job. we had an ADR at boma and i was eager to get there. unfortunately, we ran into orlando traffic (there's always traffic in orlando but rush hour is the absolute worst). we finally made it to our room at AKL jambo house...rachel had already checked in & we had an amazing view!

the most loveliest site after a long day & drive:
after arriving to AKL, i was so exhausted. i was in atlanta just hours before photographing a wedding. i basically worked friday, hopped on a plane, shot a wedding and flew home on sunday. then i picked up emme, grabbed our bags & drove to orlando. it was a whirlwind & i was definitely out of sorts. i just wanted to relax and have a beer.
we got settled & then hopped onto the elevator & made our way to boma. i must admit, it was so nice to ride an elevator from my room TO dinner. what a luxury!
i do love boma for all the variety of foods. i just hate the layout of the buffet...it irks me every time i go yet i still find myself there. we were joined by a friend of rachel & her family. there were other children for emme to play with so that was really nice. i just didn't have much to say because i was just too dang tired.
and finally...i had me a beer.
Stella Artois
i love me some stella. my favorite place to have a stella at disney is at the rose & crown beer stand in world showcase. they pour a very nice stella & it is always super cold. the stella at boma was equally delicious but not as cold. total bummer but i enjoyed it anyways.
i made numerous trips to the boma buffet. please note that the plates at boma are smaller than the usual plates found at other disney buffets. therefore, i am justified in making numerous trips because the plates are so small!
plate 1
the meat carving station had 2 kinds of meat as well as delicious sauces for your meats. there is a chili (sambal type) paste that i love in addition to the mustard sauce. the white item up top is "pap" and it tastes and has the consistency of smooth grits. the yellow item (looks like a chunky egg custard) on the right is a babootie casserole. it is sooo good. i also had some cous cous and the nuclear orange macaroni & cheese. plate 1 = success.
the #1 reason why i have issues with the boma buffet is the layout & placement of the meat carving station. the meat carving station is on the far right of the buffet. you grab a plate and then wait in line to which the buffet curves left and extends.
there's really no right starting point at the buffet but if you want meat, you have to wait in this line...which causes the buffet line to get backed up. then, people start to cut in front of you which back logs the buffet some more....it makes my blood pressure rise at times at the buffet etiquette that some people lack. but the food is good so it all equals out.

my favorite part of boma is the salad section (yes, salad). there are so many interesting & refreshing types of salad. one of my most favorite items at boma (and maybe all of disney world in terms of buffet food) is the spinach & quinoa salad. it wasn't available at dinner but the papaya salad from breakfast is also served at dinner. it is SO scrumptious. i had to indulge in the pap & macaroni & cheese.
boma also has a kid section that has the usual kid friendly options including penne pasta with marina & meat balls...roasted chicken drumsticks as well as my favorite, the nuclear orange macaroni & cheese.
after stuffing myself with 2 plates, i thought it was wise to get 2 bowls of soup.
Carrot ginger soup
this soup is DELICIOUS. it's thick & creamy...a little sweet from the carrots & totally amazing.
Curry seafood stew
this soup always has chunks of seafood in it & the mussels were really tender and tummy. the scallops are on the small side (bay scallops) but i love them.
i was very full but i decided to try some desserts this time. i'm not much of a dessert person & i have never tried the desserts at boma before.
Zebra dome
zebra domes seem to be legendary for disney desserts. there is alcohol on the inside of them. i thought they were ok and not mind blowing.
however, the pink dessert...it was passion fruit panacotta...that was mind blowingly delicious. i absolutely loved it...two thumbs up from me.
it was rachel's birthday and they brought her this really cute dessert.
boma accepts TIW. our server was really efficient and brought me extra silverware since emme kept dropping hers on the floor. boma has increased in price but i think it is worth every penny. the food is really tasty and of high quality...there is something for everyone. you can also get POG juice here! i've enjoyed boma for dinner each time i have dined...and this was no different. it was a very enjoyable dinner...i just wished i wasn't so tired.
after saying good bye, i had to go to the front desk and fix my magic band (i have the worst luck with magic bands). after a futile effort, we made it back to our room & called it a night.

and emme decided to practice her autograph too!
i was so excited to sleep!

Yay! Another update! So exciting to see an update from you. I love Boma and AKL.Hope you had some good night rest!!!
I love love love AKL lodge. It's such a beautiful resort..:I really felt like I was in vacation there.
I got decent sleep that night...Emme was having coughing issues due to allergies so wasn't as restful as I had hoped.

Yay for some AKL stuff! You are making me even more excited about our upcoming stay there. I wasn't totally sold on the resort initially, but I'm more and more happy about it every day. I like the fact that it is such a unique experience for a resort at WDW ... or just about anywhere else. You guys had a great view! I'm sorry to hear the Zebra Domes were just meh. They're on my list to try.

it is such a beautiful & wonderful resort...but i think only if you have a savannah view...that made it even more magical! rachel has lucked out twice by booking a standard view room & getting a savannah view....total pixie dust!
i don't know when we will return to AKL but i'm hoping sooner rather than later...i really love it there so much.
you will enjoy AKL very much!
i don't have much of a sweet tooth so the zebra domes didn't really have a fair chance.

on saturday, emme had her ballet recital. she did a really great job & i was so proud of her. i didn't burst into tears during her recital this year!

We will be leaving for Disney in a few hours!
Also, my parents are coming with us on a last minute whim. My dad had another round of brain radiation but he wants to come with so I am every excited.
Side note: Emme and I will be wearing matching tutus on this trip as well. Ha ha!

just a quick update before we head to magic kingdom:
after working a full shift, picking up the parents, packing up the car & driving to orlando, we headed to DHS for jedi mickey's dinner at hollywood and vine. we had dinner, watched the star wars show & fireworks and overall conquered DHS.
it's the return of the matching expandable tutus!
we then headed to MK for "rock your disney side" and lasted until 4am!
rachel took a screen shot of us on the disney web cam.
and someone rocked a little too hard!
yesterday, we returned to DHS. some of the highlights were:
emme in her r2d2 dress & her beloved storm trooper.
selfie with chewbacca!!
we are off to magic kingdom for our last full day.
happy eating everyone!

My family and I were heading to Boma for dinner on Wednesday, May 14th. We were on the bus, and I swear you got on at the first AKL stop....a man offered Emme his seat, and you said she had legs and could stand....LOL....and then Emme went to the back of the bus to sit.
I wanted to say hi, but for the life of me, could only remember Emme's name! And by that point you were at the back of the bus and we were getting off for Boma.
Was it you? Or am I totally bonkers?

Although that is something I have said to Emme, unfortunately that was not me.
My Boma review was from my week long trip back in march.
However, we were in Disney in May but it was the first weekend & we did not go to Boma or stay at akl.
