Free Dining 2014 Discussion ~ Part 2

Are you from Canada? Because I just tried that and it wouldn't let me on the page because I didn't have a Canadian billing address.

Yes, I am from Canada, with a Canadian billing address.

Nowhere in the text of the "offer highlights", "offer details" or "offer calendar" pages does it say it is only for Canadians (I just read them all again to check). So it must be once it is into booking that it kicks up that rule.

Sorry :-(

Just wondering. .. the refillable mug you get with your free dining can you not fill it up "inside" the theme parks?

It says resorts for refills?

Correct, they're only good for free refills at the resorts. You can use them in the parks, but you have to pay for the soda etc.

Since I booked coming from a Canadian IP address and using a canadian billing address, I decided to test out using a VPN that gave me a US IP address, and NOT logged in to MDE (I used a different browser).

The page took a while to load, and then a pop-up window showed up which says:

"Offer for Canada Residents

A Canada billing address is required when providing credit card information during checkout. In addition, proof of Canada residency is required at Resort check-in.

Would you like to see this Canada resident offer? "

Sorry for getting people's hopes up!!

Do you know: For the refillable mug with a dining plan, does it expire on the day we check out, or is it possible to get an extension to the 14 day "length of stay" that people who buy it can get ? We have a split stay, part on free dining and the second part not, and we really do not need two sets of mugs :-)

I'm from Australia, it let me go all the way through to the end, but I am scared if I book it and can't prove canadian residency I will get charged full rate at check-in :headache:

We'll forgive you for this transgression. Now the Olympics Hockey thing...well, that's gonna take a bit longer to forgive y'all about that one! ;)

The mug you get included with the Dining Plan is automatically defaulted to length of stay. The length of stay option defaults to 14 days even if your trip is only for 7, 8, 10, etc days.

I used the suggestion above and got through to the hidden free dining page.

Booked our room for December.

But I am Canadian which seems to be the key with this working so far.

Already received my confirmation email.

It is after 1am so thanks Starwind so much for the tip as I thought I was going to have to stay up all night hitting refresh!

Does it count if I don't like hockey ? I realize that is an exceptionally un-Canadian thing to say, and someone somewhere is probably trying to find a way to revoke my citizenship for it right now, but it is true ! :-)

Im from Aust too. It wont let me through. I dont think its worth the risk for us. Considering its a resonable time of day to book when it opens in this country.

Just my opinion.

Indeed I can !!

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers/resort-stays-dining/

Remember: This offer appears to be for CANADIAN RESIDENTS ONLY. At least as of the early hours of the morning on May 7. things may or may not change later; that of course is up to Disney !

As of a little while before when I am posting this:

If you come to the page from a Canadian IP address you will NOT see any message telling you this.

If you come to the page from a US IP address you get a pop-up message telling you this.

I don't know what happens if you come at it from other countries.

(0342 ET: I just checked coming from a VPN's Sydney, Australia IP address and it gave me the same pop-up that US IP addresses get, saying it is a Canadian offer).

I'm booked! Confirmation number and everything!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:
If you keep going all the way through to payment details you go to the drop down box to select your country. The second time I went on it didn't say anything about it being a canadian offer, and it let me pay with an Australian credit card and billing address. :thumbsup2
