oh yeah!tuffy DON'T go to Goodings (near downtown disney,. not many choices, and the prices are HIGH! and the liqour store next to it.. OMG! the prices!!!

Thanks for letting me know! I think I read that in a guide book somewhere, but it's good to hear it again!

I am making my recommendations based on MY experiences of over 100 nights at POP. I have been there during a spring break (last year...and keep in mind WDW doesn't see just ONE week as SB. I can explain why if you really need me to...) July 4th week (2013), Martin Luther King weekend and a marathon race weekend (2013-both of which had the hotel at 100%). I had 12 nights in June and while POP's occupancy was low, WDW's overall attendance was quite high.
I would ask for bldg 1 (bldg 3 is a nice back up) as it will be convenient for the car the day you have it. And like I said before you can scoot up to the bus stops by using the outer perimeter of Classic Hall (the main bldg). I have stayed facing the pool many times and have NEVER had a problem with noise from that pool. I can't discredit others who may chime in and say they have. But I am pretty noise sensitive and I have been there during peak times (with the exception of Cmas & Easter weeks). In the 60's, I prefer bldg 5 over 4 although honestly they are really pretty much the same. LOL A Lake View room (in either of these bldgs) will give you quite a bit of quietness IMO. One time last year when I was staying in bldg 5, it was SO quiet, I thought someone had come through and murdered everyone else there!!! I had the same thing in July a few summers ago. With either of these bldgs just walk up and directly through the middle of Classic Hall and it will virtually drop you right at the bus stops!
Good Luck. Hope you have a Great time at POP!

I can't identify the building numbers on this map? Am I just missing something or are they not listed?

The building numbers are the first number of the 4 digit identifiers. For example on the map 1101-1472 is building #1. 2101-2472 is building #2 and so on. 0101-0472 is building #10.

I hope that helps.

Yes!! Thank You. :goodvibes

Goodings is more expensive than most grocery stores and has a smaller selection of items, but it's very convenient. We always drive and bring our own breakfast (cereal, granola bars, pop tarts, bagels, etc.) and a few snack foods to keep in the room. We usually have room in the car for all of the non-perishable items that we take with us so we just need to stop for milk, cream cheese, and maybe yogurt. For us, Goodings is fine for that -- simply because of the convenience. When we went to Disney in June, we didn't even stop at Goodings, we just picked up 1/2 gallons of milk ($2.99...probably the same price as Goodings) and cream cheese (no charge on the days we got them) at Landscape of Flavors at AoA.

That being said, if you need to pick up all of your food, you are definitely better off stopping at a Walmart or Publix in the area. We have bought everything we needed at Goodings on one or two occasions when I didn't have room in the car for everything. It just wasn't worth it to us to take the time to drive out of our way to save $10 on the 10 or 12 things we needed -- we've never spent more than about $70 there for breakfast and snack foods. But I understand that we all have different priorities and budgets on our trips so we all do what works best for us.

I have scanned the last several pages, but can anyone who has stayed here recently tell me if there are now actual mini-fridges in the rooms instead of the drink coolers they first put in?

The units are similar to what was previously in the rooms. They do not have a freezer compartment. BUT that said, just because they are missing the freezer compartment doesn't mean it is a beverage cooler. We have not had a problem with ours getting our items cold enough. They are designed like any other cold product such as a full sized refrigerator or free standing freezer....they work most efficiently when full or close to it. :)

Yes, all the rooms have mini fridges. You can find a picture of them in post #2 of this thread, I believe.

it depends on the location of your resort. it you are at either ot the POR resorts, or CBR, goodings is to the east of the wdw resort proper (you have to drive all the way through the downtonw disney resorts)

if you are staying at any of the MK resorts, anything off site is kind of inconvenient, but you can use world drive to get to 192.

192, by the way, is the main "drag" through Kissimee.
if you are at pop or aoa of AK or all stars or CSR or even CBR, it is VERY easy to get to 192 and then cut over a bit west to the target or publix. at your resort, ask them for a map of the WDW with streets, stop lights, etc.

it is SO easy!!!! also right off the way to AK is a little known road called Sherbeth Parkway. (the back way into WDW).. it goea rith out to 192. it's only a little bit west to get to the publix, and the liquor store.

if you are staying, say at any of the allstars or pop or AK, it's quicker to go there than to the goodings.

128 days :)

Have a tie dye cheesecake related question - is the tie dye cheesecake still the same, I thought I read or heard somewhere it was now in a glass and not as big or as good? Anyone know?

Thanks!

According to my countdown app, I have 338 days to go. Going to be my first trip to Disney World and POP Century is my destination! Hoping for the 80s wing. I miss the 80s.

It was in a plastic cup when we were there in December & looked unappetizing enough that we all passed on it... :(
