Very cool. You guys were so lucky that his dad was in IT and you had a dedicated phone line. My parents were not tech people at all. That was the funny part about meeting some of my bio family, turns out they were all a bunch of engineers.
I'm so jealous that you still have your Atari, my parents gave mine away when I went to college along with my first computer, an Apple IIC. My second computer that was cutting edge at the time had a 20M hard drive and ran at 12 Mhz
I still miss DOS
PC gaming is definitely better than console gaming for most things. I could play AOE and Dungeon Keeper forever, but my newer computers can't run Dungeon Keeper anymore. I have a bunch of old dead computers around that I need to scavenge for parts in order to create one older system that can handle the older games that I still like to play. I like the ease of the PS3 though, especially when I share it with the kids. I also love how easy it is to stream everything through, it makes a great entertainment hub for the family room. I won't bother replacing it until it dies.
