December 2013: We just booked!

I was booked at POFQ for Dec 2-13 but just changed it to Dec 10-18 with a spilt stay to get FD! We had to change resorts but I'm still supper excited! I was able to get almost every Restaurant reservation except for Chef Mickey's dinner but I have breakfast instead. Still hoping to get dinner but we will see!

I'm going later but still happy to be going and we saved over 1000 !

Just booked today! Dec 19-26 at CBR. We stayed there once and the convention goers in the second half of our stay were all over the place and real kill-joys. We're looking forward to this stay without the "suits"! We've never been down in a holiday season. We always meant to try early December but this week is working out best. Can't wait!

Yay!!! We will be at Pop Dec 19 thru 26th as well. First Christmas for my fam there. Plus I got our mvmcp tickets last week!

WOO HOO! Double Digits for us today! We leave in 99 days and 9 hours! Can't believe it! It's practically time to start packing!!!!! :mickeyjum (;

Each year I make it back it is like a victory for me. I have Stage 5 kidney disease (but not yet on dialysis). Once I start dialysis, traveling will become difficult. I thought last year was going to be my last time going to Disney ever. I managed to have some fun, but staying offsite to save money (a mistake I'll never make again) took away from it (especially seeing the drug deal I referenced above), but I was having extreme difficulty walking around. I would walk hundred feet or so and would be out of breathe. It affected me so much there were parts of parks I simply didn't have the energy to make it to. Never got to Tomorrowland in MK. Turned out I was suffering from critical anemia. Due to treatment, that is much better (to the point I just successfully completed a 5K Walk for Cancer at Yankee Stadium which included 303 steps). Now I am going back December 9-16 to celebrate my health being stable. Of course there is still a slight chance I might need to start dialysis before then but the way I feel now, I highly doubt it.

If I calculated things correctly we have hit double digits for our 12/7 arrival date! We booked at 499 days out and I can't believe how close we are.

You should be 99 days out. I just calculated mine (I arrive on Dec. 9) and I'm at 101 days.

So glad to know I'm not the only one planning so far out!!! I'll also be going in December 2013! Dec 1st to the 8th. I'm booking next week, POFQ. I've never been at the holidays, I'm so excited!

I stayed at POFQ a few years ago at Christmas time. It was so wonderful. I didn't expect to see any Christmas decorations but they had several mardi-gras themed trees.

So how busy is dec 6-9 going to be. Ps we will be skipping mk on sat bc of the taping going on. We've never been down that weekend before, but didn't want to battle the crowds Christmas weekend again lol.

I wish this thread was more active. Now that we're getting closer I am in non-stop Disney mode:rotfl:.

So far I am still up in the air as to where we are spending our last night. So far our trip looks like this..

Fly in Dec 13th at 9pm, stay at AllStar Movies for the night.
Dec 14th - 21st Studio at Wilderness Lodge.
Dec 21st - undecided
Dec 22nd, go to Airport Hyatt late in the evening, fly out the next morning.

The Dec 21st is a Saturday. So we check out of our Wilderness Lodge room Saturday morning. That leaves us all day Saturday and all day Sunday. We thought about Universal, but it's too expensive. It will cost us over $1000 for tickets/room for the weekend. Ridiculous. I am thinking just grab one more night at WL. But Saturday and Sunday are crowd level 10's at Disney. Will I even want to be there anymore? I don't think I want to brave the parks those days. We thought maybe go over to Gaylord Palms, but I am not loving that plan.. means we'd have to have a car which we don't really want this time.

I know I've posted about this before but I am still trying to decide.

If you had already been at Disney for a week, what would you do for 2 extra days where the crowds jumped to a 10??
Would you go to the parks? Make fastpass+ reservations, an ADR, and maybe try to book the Wishes dessert party so even if it's uber-crowded you still have a plan and things to do?

Or maybe even La Nouba and dinner in Downtown Disney?

We'll have seen and done everything in the less busy 7 days prior. These two crowd level 10 days will be fine if I can find enough for us to do. Would love to hear your thoughts.:)

How about staying a night at the AKL? It is supposed to be really nice. There are interesting activities there, too. So if you don't feel like going to a park you can just hang out at the resort or go over to DTD from there. You could also resort hop, looking at different Christmas decorations.

Thank you!! I finally made a decision. I don't know where we'll stay that last night yet but it will be on WDW property. But my kids LOVED the Hoop Dee Doo review last time we went ( I think in 2010). So I called WDW-Play and asked about a Holiday Carriage ride. They had one available right after the 6:15 pm HDDR. So I booked both:cool1:. So that covers Saturday night. If we have a car we'll go over to Gaylord Palms and see the "ICE" show on Sunday after we check out. If not we'll have a nice breakfast somewhere. Still not sure about Saturday during the day but I am sure we'll find something:goodvibes

Not sure if you are already planning this, but when we go, we don't have any plans the day we arrive, during the day the night we planning on going to MVMCP, or the day we leave. I'm planning on spending one or two of those days checking out the decorations and what not at some of the other resorts.

I was planning to do a tour of the monorail resorts and those decorations on our MVMCP day early in the trip, but now that you mention it, maybe it's a much better plan to do that on the crazy busy day!
Our party day is early in the trip when we still have lower crowds and tons of energy. Maybe we'll do a park that day, rest in the afternoon, and head to MVMCP at 4. I'm liking that plan!:thumbsup2

You know, this might sound crazy, but I would like to experience one day at MK when crowds were a 10. I would just like to walk around and take it all in.

Just a thought but how about doing a tour? We have been on a few and really enjoyed them. Our favorite was the dolphin in depth program at EPCOT. Lots of neat information and pool time with the dolphins.

They also have one they only do at holiday time (I can't remember the name) but it shows all about the holiday decorations and where they are stored.

It doesn't sound crazy at all, since that is something I want to do, too. ;) We are arriving the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I want to head over to MK and ride the railroad train just so I can see what it looks like when the park is a ten. We will be at WL, so it won't be too difficult. If the crowds don't look to scary, we might even get off the train and walk around. :)

Actually the Saturday after thanksgiving IS NOT A 10.It is a 9.If you really want to see what a 10 is like go to mk on Christmas day or nye.

It will be the closest I ever come to a 10. :goodvibes We usually go to WDW in January and February, so I've never really seen it super-crowded. This will be both scary and fun. I'm planning some non-park activities on that weekend, just in case it is really crowded.

It doesn't sound crazy to me either. I've been at mostly low crowd times, and have been on 8 or 9 trips. For this trip the first week is really moderate crowds. It's only our last two days that will be nuts and if we feel like trying to brave it, just to say we did it, we will.:thumbsup2
I think we'll rope drop on then escape early if we do end up trying the 10 day, but it would be interesting.
We did hop over to the MK one night at the end of one trip when the Mardis Gras/Presidents Day week crowds were coming in. The two holidays were the same week that year. I remember the park was supposed to be a 6. And it was CRAZY. It took us an hour to get down Main Street. Touring Plans reworked the calendar afterwards, and it turned out it was a 9 in the MK that day. I believe it. It's not something I would want to try to tour for an entire day in, but to show up just to do a few things wouldn't be too bad.
