I am really surprised to waited this long to measure it. You're out having fun or something?
With all this talk about it I was shocked no one from POR went and measured one.

Thanks for the info, does it have a default smaller photo option or do you just guess?
WOW! I can't believe I read the whole thing! Just finished reading this entire thread and now, if it is at all possible, I am even more excited than ever for our trip!!! We (DH, 3 DD's, and my mom) are booked in two rooms at POR 4/20-4/27. It will be our first Disney trip as a family (with DH), our first time to POR, my DH's and my mom's first time to Disney and my DH's birthday. He is visually impaired (RP which has caused tunnel vision, depth perception problems and low light trouble) and I am wondering if it would be helpful for me to request a corner room. Just wondering if we had 2 windows, maybe we would get better light in the room and he might have an easier time. He is already pretty worried about getting around the parks and will be taking his white cane. Hoping that will make others aware that he is impaired and maybe we can avoid nasty looks and comments from people if he bumps into someone or whatever. Anyway, any input on having a 2nd window and if that would be an ok request?
Thank you for this thread, it is awesome!
A few years ago I copied the following from allears.net I believe: Info re disabilities including low vision: Your first stop on your first day in the parks should be Guest Relations. When you are there the most important thing to do is to make sure you get an official WDW document called the Guest Assistance Card. It is approximately 3x5 in size and is good for your entire visit to Walt Disney World. The card outlines any assistance you may need while visiting the park, but more importantly, identifies that you in fact have some special needs that require attention. The card is not mentioned on Disney's website designed for people with disabilities. I believe the card was originally intended for guests who could not use the regular queue lines (such as people in wheelchairs), and outlined the special assistance they may need. Speaking from experience, a visual impairment is a mobility concern that requires just as much special attention from Cast Members as someone in a wheelchair, so make sure you get this card!
Hope that helps!
Anyone have any thoughts on my question above???

I'm thinking of booking at POR for the first time and wonder if anyone can tell me how likely it is that I will receive an Alligator Bayou room if I request it. I'm super interested in AB and the surrounding grounds and would be disappointed to end up in the mansions. I'm traveling solo so am concerned about being a lower priority than families who need the extra bed. Thanks!
Seriously, this made me laugh out loud.MinnieTink said:Just pulled in to POR after a 16.5 hour drive from NJ.
Funny we pulled up to the security guard and he asked if we had stayed here before. We said well not really. Because we have stayed at POFQ. He said Oh no you didn't stay over there did ya? Over here we call that the projects! Lol!
Anyway going to check in and then go check out Bob.

I like Building 16 as well!! That's the one I will request when I send my fax in. I have back issues and my hubby is disabled, so a room right off the parking lot would be perfect. We like building 16. I think it's just a tad closer but not a lot. It's a closer walk to the buses for sure.
I am almost positive if you request AB you will get it. In my opinion, there are more AB rooms than mansions, so that's why my theory is based on. Although, like the PP said, if you go preferred, you will be guaranteed an AB room (however, I'm cheap and won't pay the extra $25 per night. lol).I'm thinking of booking at POR for the first time and wonder if anyone can tell me how likely it is that I will receive an Alligator Bayou room if I request it. I would like to add that AB 16 garden is the best buy in the whole place.
We arrive at POR tonight and I have requested AB16 - can't wait - I'm doing my last minute packing! How's the weather now - are the rains clearing out or do we have another few days of that ahead of us? I have packed the ponchos, but they are just the flimsy ones. Oh well, if it rains we carry on! This trip has been quite the ordeal to get to - my son broke his ankle early in August and is in cast until mid Sept. We felt he'd be miserable not being able to swim and in the sweltering heat, so DH is staying home with him and I'm taking DD and her BFF who has never been to Disney - they are both turning 16 within weeks of this trip so it will be fun for them, but I'll miss my boys back home. The good news is that we're planning a family "make-up" trip for Feb when DS is as good as new!
Good morning everyone!!! Who is off to POR today? Anyone?
