2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part II

It seems both hotels are pretty much identical. Are there any real benefits to choosing one over the other aside from decor choice?

:welcome: to the DISboards!

This information is from page 1 of this thread. Lots more info and pictures about both resorts there, too.

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony

Surgery over and all went well! Now praying for quick recovery. Thank you for all the support.

My continued prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery:grouphug::wizard:

10 more days til my 45 day mark!!!! :cheer2::woohoo::dance3:

I'm not wishing summer to end but I too wish the calendar would speed up to September...kids start school & then we leave for our Surprise trip...Time to start writing my poem for the room assigners I do everytime...Since we are staying CL I think I will make it extra special...Is it still the same room assigners that handle non-CL?

Hi everyone! We're home :confused3 after another absolutely magical stay at the Beach Club!:love::cloud9:

Pics and more to come later since we walked in just after midnight last night.... still trying to sort through the luggage and start some laundry :rotfl: I do have some pictures from the BC Dis meet/shower too! :)

The meet was great! I got to finally meet some BC Dis friends in person (and some flat versions too :rotfl: ) ! I actually met Robyn a few days prior to the meet seeing as how our balconies were adjacent to each other.... there were 2 balconies separating us, but we were on a corner facing each other indirectly. I saw her on her balcony one afternoon and recognized her from her pic on the first page of this thread! A HUGE thank you to Robyn for organizing the surprise shower for Teena!!!! :grouphug:

More to come soon! I have to find something to feed my girls before I tackle the grocery store later today...... it's so hard to walk into your kitchen after a week of staying Club Level and not find a continental breakfast all prepared for you.... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Silly question maybe...

do adults go to the evening campfire on the beach? I'm sure it's mostly families with kids but I'm going on a mother/daughter trip with my mom who just turned 70 (I'm 40 :scared1: ). We were thinking we would like to get a couple of s'mores by the campfire one night (but not to watch the movie) but don't want to feel out of place if it's mostly young kids. (But, then again, it's Disney so everyone's a kid at heart, right?)

We just returned from our first visit to the BC. We were assigned a room with cranes outside the balcony and George our bellman made a quick call and we were promptly assigned a "quiet" pool view room with a patio. It was great to sit outside and the grandchildren could almost step into the pool from their room. There was a lot of activity in the pool after closing and one night it was after 1:00 a.m. when security did make the people leave. I understood them wanting to swim late at night, but they were very noisy. I usually do not like a ground floor, but was very careful to keep the french door closed as soon as we went out side. We had lots of the tiny lizards outside much to the delight our our granddaughter. We were also just around the corner from Room 1501 so it was an easy walk to Epcot. We loved the atmosphere and location of the BC. We heard the sonic boom from the shuttle landing and it shook the windows in the resort and woke us up a little before 6:00 a.m. So even though we didn't see the landing we did hear it! It was a wonderful vacation and although the weather was hot, it was hotter here in Illinois while we were gone.

Also want to thank Lexi for the restuarant coupons she sent me, we were not able to use them but did pass them on to a young couple who was very glad to get them.

Tons of photos to download, but wanted to share one of my faves.... This was taken Monday night from our balcony during a lightning storm after about 40 min. of patience and snapping pics until I caught this! Taken with my Nikon D90 DSLR using just the kit lens (18-105mm)

You definitely can go to the campfire and watch the movie if you would like. People of all ages enjoy it!

Agreed! Years ago before DH and I had children, we would stay at the YC/BC during the first week of December.... at that time, they used to have a CM come out each evening in the lobby dressed as the conductor from the Polar Express. Each night he would read the story to all the children/families and then hand out a silver bell on a ribbon to all the kids afterwards :)

DH and I loved going to listen to the story and see the expression on the children's faces when they each got their own bell :lovestruc

I say go to the campfire and roast some marshmallows! :) In Disney, everyone's a kid! :goodvibes

Of course you should go! :thumbsup2
One of my favorite Disney memories was a convention trip I took. My DH came along because it was his birthday weekend (but the kids stayed home because airfare was expensive). We had lunch at Beaches and Cream and they dimmed the lights and sang to him. The waitress brought a birthday balloon that we dragged all over MK! We got some looks but mostly lots of smiles and Happy Birthdays! (It was his 41st birthday.) It was great!

If it were me..... I would have made the family store treats from Club Level in their cheeks, 'chipmunk' style so I could get to that update and not have to worry about the grocery store for a week or two... I'm just saying.... ;)

Welcome back  and we all can't wait to hear updates from all of the Beach Club's recent guests!

For those of you back and suffering from Depression remember, the Beach Club will always be there and you can go back again! :thumbsup2
