No More ADR's at conflicting times

I'm puzzled at reports of new openings.
It seems like the only way this would happen is if Disney was automatically canceling conflicting reservations and I haven't heard any reports of that.
We have a party of 23 people and made 3 ADRs for the same restaurant, same time for parties of 8,8, and 7. This was before the change, but all under one name. The system asked if we still wanted to keep the overlapping ressie and we clicked yes. They wouldn't just cancel them, right? We did this much in advance to be sure we were accommodated.
I would call them directly.....they're going to know better than anyone. Plus, if you call they can make a note that it IS correct. :)

:confused3 I think it will still be a problem with people booking multiple reservations. People put them in their child or spouses names also.....

No, we are having a family reunion and double booked also. like others say, the computer did ask us if we wanted to change one but we kept all of them. Sorry, this is the system that disney put into place.

magic mouse you are totally right, when you have to try and pick 6 months ahead and then its a fight to the finish to get primo reservations. Sorry generally I think I'm a pretty cogenial gal but I have no problem double booking what so ever.

I am thinking a lot of TS places are now showing openings is due to guest who had double or triple booked , panicing and cancelling the extra ADR rather than chance keeping them and maybe Disney's new system cancelling the ADRs

I've never made ADRs on-line, just over the phone. I didn't think that making them over the phone tied in with your resort reservation. :confused3

I'm glad that they are making easy for everyone else to get reservations, online or walk-ins. I don't believe in Karma, so I won't go there:)

:rolleyes1

I agree! I originally had a reservation at POFQ for Sept 24th-Oct 2nd with the GP code that came out in January for alot of dates in 2011. When we were down there two weeks ago (April 30th-May 8th) I switched to the Bounce Back deal. Since neither of my desired resorts were available that week (despite being included in the bounceback dates:mad:), I had to move the dates of my Sept trip back two full weeks. I had already made my ADRs at exactly 180 days out and had gotten everything I wanted. When I came back I had to cancel all of those ADRs and try to rebook them. I canceled my old ones two days after I came back, but put off making new ones due to some family questions (original trip was supposed to be solo, then two family members decided they might come, then changed their minds again, and I couldn't get a straight answer out of them.:headache:). Anyway, I finally gave up on them yesterday and went online to make my ADRs. Imagine my surprise when I got everything I wanted at the exact times I wanted. This was for Sept 10th-18th.:cool1: Just playing around I was surprised at places like Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, 'Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Tusker House, Cape May, and Le Cellier having openings.

I find it sad that people would tie up reservations knowing that they won't be using them and that other people might want them. Why do so many people in this world have such an "I got mine you can go screw" attitude??? It's an embarrassment to the human race that Disney had to find a way to police dining reservations.

While I am very happy with all my reservations and don't need any more, I'm glad to hear the new system has opened things up for so many!!!

I'm sure there is a lot of that. But I think there are also a lot of people who double book while they are working out their schedule, then cancel the ones they won't be using.
I know I did a lot of that before we had our plans nailed down. But I don't feel guilty about booking a bunch of stuff, then canceling a month before the trip. Someone still got the ADR's I canceled. It was just the person looking a month ahead of time instead of 2 months ahead.

The new policy hasn't affected the two reservations I'm trying to change. Since they're both signatures and one requires a credit card, I wonder if they don't get booked up at the same rate as the other TS restaurants?

well I'm glad to see they are trying to do something..I didn't realize people were double booking...I know last week when I changed my Hollywood & Vine times, the option to cancel the other or keep the new one was available..maybe I didn't read it right but I thought you had to do one or the other.:confused3

going to go check on some availibility for my next trip.

Well I guess the system isn't all that great. I switched my ADRs around again and it didn't make me cancel a previous ADR scheduled for 35 minutes prior to the one I was trying to book. Not even a notice that I had another one already booked.

Well, I finally got 'Ohana's for my trip next week!!!:cool1: I think it is all due to this so I'm a happy camper.:goodvibes

Did that ADR happen to be at a non-Disney restaurant? I made a few changes to my plans and got the prompt to cancel the old reservation for most, but not for overlapping (like 10min apart, because I was just adding one person to our plans) ADRs at Raglan Road or Yak & Yeti.

I just found a LeCellier available :yay: for a day that I already had Kona Cafe booked and "knew" when I made the LeCellier reservation I would get a notice that I should cancel the Kona Cafe reservation but I didn't get that notice. :confused3 I did, however, go back and cancel Kona.

I had Cape May (5:25) booked and was switching it to La Hacienda (6:00). I had switched Cape May to another day that replaced my 50sPT and they made me cancel.

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again...the absolute biggest problem with the ADR system is the 180 days - and this is further proof. Nobody can have their schedule nailed down 6 months out. However, that still doesn't justify the practice, IMO. And I'm sure not everyone cancels the ADRs they decide they won't use. This change they made is a good step. But lowering that 180 day number to 30 or 45 would be an even better step.

And I'll say it a million times more... you're in the minority.

Most people do plan WDW vacations 9-12 months in advance. Most people only get 1-2 weeks of vacation per year, and know whether or not WDW will be among the finalists.

There are only 74 table service restaurants which take reservations. With an average occupancy of 150 persons per seating, that's 11,100. WDW receives 100,000+ guests on almost any given day. It's inevitable that people will not get the dining times or locations that they want. As for double-booking, it's not as serious an issue as people make it out to be. If Disney were truly concerned, they would require CCs on all reservations -- hopefully they'll go that route in the future. In the meantime, the system works just fine for anyone who plans a week-long vacation in advance. Most people do. For those who do not, or choose not to, that's why there's counter service. Disney provides something for everyone.

There are several Le Cellier dinners open for the end of May right now. I also just snagged Chef Mickeys for 5/31. I definitely think this had something to do with it. People keep trying for what they really want and then have to let go of another reservation that they have "just because".
