So This is What a Dream Tastes Like

Very excited to read a Dream dining report! I've still got 9...long...months...until our Dream cruise but I'm still excited every single day. Can't wait to hear more!

I'm working on an update now. It was such a fun trip.

Hi Jen!

Signing on as well! Liquid sunshine when you left ...... hm, was a pretty good sign for Karin and myself on our first cruise!

The food looks yummy, can't wait for more.

Greetings from Austria,
Tom

The food looks wonderful.

Hi Tom. I didn't even know that you posted on Dis! Nice to say hi to you in person! The weather got much better the next day. And Disney did a good job on board to keep our spirits up. We had the sail away party in the atrium and it was nice. I have never seen it outdoors, so nothing to compare it to, but I was impressed.

Dinner for the evening was at Enchanted Garden.

It was a very nice place. :cloud9:

I was excited to see we got put in one of the round booths.

I have no idea why I took this picture like this…I’m gonna pretend I was going for something artsy! Sounds good…right? :rolleyes1

As I was trying to take pictures of the fountain a waiter stopped and posed. I laughed, but didn’t take the picture. I wish I would have. He was our assistant waiter, Srdjan…(pronounce Serd-jan). He was very nice and funny. He immediately directed his attention to Claire and called her Princess. And she was in love with him instantaneously! He took our drink orders, Sprite for Claire, diet with no ice for me and mom had wine. I had not known this before, but you can get your first drink complimentary at dinner. At least some of them are. I know mom never paid for a glass of wine at dinner. I had a specialty drink two nights and never was charged either.

This restaurant was so pretty. I loved the light fixtures. I guess they bloom through out the day.

We were given our rolls right away. There were two different kinds, Multi-Grain Loaf and Country Currant Bread with Chickpea-garlic puree.
The country current wasn’t our favorite, but still OK. Claire loved the Mulit-grain bread.

We met Brent our server. He was wonderful as well. We made our order and told him that Claire would like to do the “dine and play.”
Claire colored her menu while we waited for our food.

Soon our appetizers arrived, and Claire’s meal.
Mom and I both got the North Atlantic Lobster Ravioli - with roasted garlic and sweet basil in a light tomato broth. This was heavenly good. I should’ve ordered two!

Claire got the Tropical Fruit Cup - with an orange strawberry drizzle for an appetizer, but it came with her meal since she was doing the dine and play.
She also got Golden Chicken Strips - with French fries.

Srdjan asked if she want ketchup and she replied no. She doesn’t eat ketchup usually. But he still made a surprise for her anyways and she did like that.

Mom got the Pan-seared Sea Bass - with Saffron and fennel risotto with a sweet chili glaze. She said it was excellent.

I got two entrees. I wanted both, and since it was unlimited food…why not?

First was the Caramelized Sea Scallops - with roasted asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and pearl pasta, garnished with caramelized leeks and veal jus reduction.

This was good. The scallops tasted great, but I wish I had a little more of the sauce with it. Whatever sauce was on the plate was good. The asparagus was good too. BUT those round balls…..I assume are the pearl pasta…..YUCK! I have no clue what they really are, but they were nasty. I took two bites and that was it for them.

I also ordered the Grilled NY Strip Steak - thyme roasted vegetables, double baked potato topped with handmade herb butter.

This steak was very good. I enjoyed the potatoes and the veggies as well.
In fact the steak was so good, that as it was set in front of me, Claire declared she wanted steak. So I cut some up for her…then mom decided it looked good too, so she had some as well. We all really enjoyed the steak. Claire even had a second helping. Lets just say, I didn’t get a whole lot of my steak, but what I had was great. And that left room for dessert then!

While we were still eating, they brought out Claire’s dessert…a Mickey bar.

Claire basically ate part of the ears off, and then mom and I attacked it.
It was time for Claire to go to the kids club, so I took her over to the front and got her signed in. By the time I got back, mom had only left a little bit of Mickey bar for me.

Our desserts had arrived as well. We both got Sweet Temptations - a trio of Esterhazy Cake, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Chocolate Silk Mousse. Yum Yum Yum. I have no idea what Esterhazy is, but it was good. I could’ve ate two plates of this trio…well… I was full , so technically I couldn’t.

I found the food here to be great. I had heard this was a lot of people’s least favorite place, but I found everything good. Portions are small, so if you are big eater, you will definitely want to get more than one entrée and/or a few appetizers as well. If Skip had been with me, he would not have been filled up as easily as my mom and I. The nice thing about small portions is that I didn’t feel guilty getting more than one entrée.
The place was also very pretty. I wish I had taken more pictures. I do have more than what I posted though, and will post them in my TR.

I did not take pictures of the adult menus, but here is a scan of the childs.

I have to add that our servers were just over the top Excellent. I had heard of so many new servers onboard and things going slow or getting messed up. Our two were just fabulous and things came very fast. We were out of dinner within an hour I believe. Mom asked how much I had paid for tips and I told her what the suggested was and we had prepaid. She decided right then and there that she was going to give each extra on our last night. They were just amazing.
Ivo was the head server of the area and he did come over each night to check on us as well and was very friendly.

LOVING the reviews - would love to try a Disney cruise. Didn't know you could order more than one entree - I would end up a stone heavier at the end of the cruise

You would think that...but you are on the move so much there is no way you could possibly gain weight. At least we were. We used the steps going down decks all the time and going up...well we aren't in shape, so if it was more than 2 decks we usually used the elevator. But even walking from one end of the ship to the other was a long haul. You would think you were coming to the end and then the hallway would curve and another one just as long would appear. My jeans might've even been a little looser on the way home.

crud...I'm hungry now :headache: Ya shoulda warned me it was a food review right off the bat!!

I told you that you would LOVE a Disney cruise and now you HAVE to book another to enjoy with your husband ;)

In the beginning, I don't think that "face" is just something Dad makes... It looks like his "I'm teed cuz I don't get to go on the cruise" :rolleyes1 Still...sweet he 'waited' for the 3 of you.

Lookin forward to more........

I know I am hungry all over again!

Oh btw, this is my dining reveiw! :rotfl: I am going to do a big TR as well, but I lost a dang SD card from the first couple of days and I was hoping it would be found. So I am putting it off. But as of today and all the calls I have made, I think it has gone to SD heaven. I do have a lot of photos from those days on my other camera cards, but I am bummed to have lost it. It had the horn playing, some shots in the plane on the way down and several from Nassau and a lot of the afternoon at Castaway Cay.I keep racking my brain to think if I put it somewhere safe, but I have gone through everything I can think of and still no luck.

You are probably right about my dads face. He was bummed he couldn't go on the ship. But I do think he had a good time at his sisters house. (even though he got lost on the way there :rolleyes1)

I have been telling Skip all about it and I do hope we get to go with him in the future. It was so much fun. I know he would love it, and love experiencing it with Claire.

Thanks for the update, Jen!

I was so looking forward to see some cruise food, and so far it looks good! Tom liked the sea-bass and I would totally love the lobster ravioli! :cloud9:

You picked the one dessert I was SO interested in ........ the Esterhazy cake!

esterhazy.jpg

Being this is a Austrian-Hungarian speciality (from the time when Hungary belonged to Austria) and is usually a hazelnut meringue, baked in individual sheets, then they are sandwiched together with hazelnut scented pastry cream, topped with sugar icing and the typical chocolate marking.

I am so looking forward to it, even though it looks different to what we are used to! ;) :goodvibes

Tom got Mickey Ketchup too! :rotfl2: We had lunch at Tritons and our server served him Mickey Ketchup! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

First, love this report!! Second, I'm so happy to hear about your dining time. We have main dining on the Dream in August with our three children and I'm really hoping our experience is similar. One thing we love about WDW and DL is the relatively quick service at TS restaurants, and I was getting nervous about all the reports of 2+ hours for dinner on the Dream! Did you make any special requests regarding quick service or did it seem like that was the norm on your cruise?

MMM! That looks good and very similar. I was very impressed with it. My mom had never heard of it eithr, and we both enjoyed it. Thopugh I think she didn't scrape the plate like I did. :rolleyes1 I didn't diet for months and months to eat light on this cruise!

We were late seating. The only request I made prior to the cruise was to be at a 4 top, as we don't really care for dining with strangers. Things moved very fast. Not sure if it was just our servers or what. Now people were still there when we left, so if you are worried, be sure to mention you would like to get going. Also maybe try and request Brent and Srdjan prior to the cruise. They were wonderful. Brent would always come to the table singing and he was good...I told him he was much better than the lady I heard in one of the lounges. :rotfl2:

I am subscribing - I am hoping someday I will be on the Disney cruise!

I'm here too and completely drooooooooling over it all! Ahhhhhh! I can't wait until our cruise!

Oh.my.word....AMAZING. :faint:

While I'm waiting for your TR, been enjoying the food trippie!!:thumbsup2

I don't know much about the Disney Cruises, so you don't have to eat w/ strangers huh? My DH and I would appreciate that.

The food looks wonderful, except for those pasta balls!!:scared1:

You can make that request, but it's not guarenteed.
