Is there a noticable difference between the Haunted Mansion and the Phantom Manor?

I believe the Phantom Manor has a different storyline that's much darker. There are different scenes as well. I can't clarify because I haven't been on either...

One thing I hate about Phantom Manor is the bit where you turn around and go backwards and downwards and there's all mud and rock on either side like you're going into a coffin. CREEPS ME OUT SO MUCH.

That was beyond creepy.

First off,it's like a creepy haunted house you'd see in the movies,great work Disneyland Paris.
Secondly,everything feels so close up than the Haunted Mansion.

But what I don't get is why they'd put it in Frontierland xD Doesn't really fit in that category. Then again,the Haunted Mansion is in Liberty Square in WDW,but to me it makes sense...

Phantom Manor does take place in an Old West town, so it fits in Frontierland.

WDW HM - Liberty Square
DLP PM - Frontierland
TDL HM - Fantasyland

I did find it a bit amusing how the stage version kept the line "Here we come 50 strong/and 50 Frenchmen can't be wrong!" even though quite a bit of the mob was female.
