2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

 Of course the last special ended 10 days before we arrived, and the new special starts 3 days after we return....oh poo! Guess we'll just have to fit something in between!!

Cheshire Figment you are such a wonderful source of information!

I have a question: my father is retired Navy and is eligible for this promotion, however, he has no plans to visit the World in 2011.:confused3 On the other hand I do!

It sounds like he can purchase a ticket for me at our local base. My question is, does he need to be present at WDW with me to exchange the voucher?

Thanks so much!

Melissa

Can a service member and family member use this offer more than once? I mean for two separate visits (say once in Dec and once in summer?). Or is it one ticket per recorded name?

If it is like previous military offers the service member will have to be present at WDW to activate the tickets.

ETA that a spouse or widow can also activate with an ID

I'm so happy I'm almost in tears right now. I really thought we would have to pay full price for tickets (I know, not the end of the world...) and then my husband would be gone for the entire duration of the discount next year (he's getting stationed in Korea and command sponsorship hasn't gone through yet, if ever).

Does the single purchase thing apply? I know in the past each service member was only allotted a single transaction where they could buy up to 6 tickets. I see that there's a case with the service member getting his ticket later, but what about the others? I see that they're recording identifying data. I don't know if they've done that before.

From above:
"If the service member is not available the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase and/or activate up to five Tickets for family and guests. The special large family rule above applies. This purchase will not prevent the service member from receiving their ticket at a later date, but this will make the service member ineligible to purchase any additional tickets. Note that the Dependent ID Card (DD Form 1173) must show a relationship of either "Spouse" or "Unremarried Widow" to be able to activate the tickets."

Soirry but to activate the tickets it requires the physical presence of the service member with ID or a person whose DD1173 says "Spouse" or "Unremarried Widow".

The service member may purchase and activate no more than six tickets during the period.

We have (for the 2009 and 2010 programs) recorded name, birth date and base. To be able to easily replace lost tickets we now record full demographics.

Thanks for that info. and I saw it in your original very helpful post but I'm still a bit confused. To be exact, my parents are going in May but I was thinking about trying to convince them to go in Dec too and was wondering if they could use this offer both times (it would be a total of 4 tickets, 2 for mom and 2 for dad).

There is no restriction, so thay could have three trips of two tickets each or whatever. Just that they cannot exceed a total of six tickets.

Thank you Cheshire Figment!! One more quick question...should they buy both sets of tickets at the same time (one time transaction as someone previously mentioned) or does it matter?

Thank you again for your help. I would just love it if my parents could come again.

Just subscribing so we can get the latest info! We'll be there December 28th - January 4th. With the blocked out dates around the Holidays, I may be better getting the 7 day park hopper rather than taking advantage of this deal. But we'll see! Thanks Cheshire!

My dad is retired Air Force and we're leaving in 14 days. So excited by this news that my hands are shaking a little. We've not been able to go as a family since 2007 so we've missed that last few special deals for the military and were assuming we'd pay full price this time.

Just a word to the wise. If you have a locall ITT office, you will save a lot of time buying your tickets there instead of SoG.

Last year it took over 90 minutes to get tickets at SoG. Seemed as if everybody had to have everything explained to them repeatedly. They also shut down one of the windows about 45minutes into our wait.

Dan

My family has stayed at Shades of Green multiple times and we always buy our tickets there. We've never had more than a 20 minute wait. The wait probably depends on a number of factors so if you can't buy them close to home, don't fret.

Can one take advantage of the offer at *both* Disney World and Disneyland (6 tickets at each place)? Or is it an either or thing? We are considering taking a trip out to CA next summer, but have already planned a trip to WDW in January.

We're getting there the same day as you are!

Good question.
