Disney Dream Inaugural Cruise 1/26/2011!

I know this has probably been discussed somewhere in the past 119 pages but anyone have any idea what kind of celebration will be had for the maiden voyage? Anywhere to see the wonder or magic's maiden voyage celebrations?

Do you mean with passengers...if so...there really was none...at least on the Magic. They did have the huge party with VIP's and Disney Characters and streamers but that took place a day or two before the actual paying passenger MV. They did show all the celebrations continuously on the stateroom TV which upset many MV cruisers.....we were on the MV of the Magic and it was hard to watch only because they really didn't even mention our MV to us while onboard. Many people got really angry and felt DCL was dissing all the people that actually spent the money to be on the MV but threw a lavish spectacle for press and VIP's. It was not pretty at times onboard...it was our first cruise ever so it didn't really matter to us but it was a bit hard to watch the TV.

I would hope they acknowledge all the people who spent a lot of money to be on this cruise and have some sort of celebration.

Oh wow, I actually thought also that they would have the celebration with news cameras and VIP on the day of the MV. This cruise cost a pretty penny to not have some sort of gift or celebration for the passengers. Lets cross our fingers for something good.

So while I am sitting here recovering from surgery and just being told my cancer had returned, I want to buy a FE. Does anyone know where to get a really nice one WITH our names embroidered on it?

Can't wait to celebrate with everyone on the MV of the Dream. We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary, my 13 years working for Disney and my partners birthday. We were going to be celebrating my remission from cancer but I guess we had enough to celebrate!

Can't wait to finally meet everyone very soon.

Hey everyone!! Just checking in. I can't believe the cruise is coming up so quickly...only a little over a month until we get to book our onboard activities and shore excursions!!

Now, on to the FE - I would try ebay or etsy.


I booked my airfare! $240 r/t on Southwest with Early Bird for the return flight so I don't have to check in during Castaway Cay. It's a little high (about $15 higher than Air Tran right now), but if it goes down I can rebook and get the difference back as flight credit for future use. Not only that - but it's another check mark on this list of things to do! Next up - PIF!

Regarding the FE, I ordered one on EBay from gradysmommy (EBay name) and absolutely LOVE it! She did an amazing job! I have her email address if you want to contact her that way. However, if you want to see samples, just search "fish extenders" and you should be able to find several to choose from.

We just got back from the DL 1/2 marathon, nice weather for this race! Guess we need to start thinking about this cruise

Santiago - I am sure that we will get gifts from Disney for the MV, but no press stuff, they will have done that earlier. In fact, I heard from someone who had been on another cruise that the crew members are saying that we will need an extra suitcase to bring home all the "goodies" we will be receiving. I also understand from a previous post that there is a whole store devoted to MV merchandise!

I bought my FE on Ebay from Gradysmommy who is a fellow DISer. You can always request a specific design you have in mind-she may have it. I ordered an FE for my BFF and requested a Beauty and the Beast design(embroidery) and she had it. I have 2 for my family. We usually get 2 cabins when traveling with the boys.
