ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Quick question about CL offerings.. Is the hot food offered at the 5-7 or 7-10 times?
I seem to have all my ADRS booked between 6 & 7.and I doubt my choices will have other openings at this late date. We just want to enjoy some of the hot appetizers as well as desserts and drinks from the CL..

Hi bluejasmine - the hot food is from 5-7. From 7-10 are desserts and the cordials. We thought the appetizers were really good!

Thanks Zu Zu! Now I have questions about how long the transportation takes:

Monorial to GF, CR, MK, EP
Bus to DS, AK

Does the boat run to GF or MK or both and how long does that take?

Just trying to figure out how to plan it so that we can come back after lunch swim and enjoy the CL offerings and then go back for our Adrs and EMHs.

Sorry I keep asking so many questions I THINK Im almost done.. LOL

The resort monorail, I believe, is 15-20 minutes to go around the entire loop.

It's about 10 minutes to Epcot.

Busses to DS/AK are about 20 minutes.

The boat route is MK -> GF -> Poly -> MK

Takes about 5-10 minutes to go Poly -> MK, maybe a little more/less depending on the crowds, etc... I've never really paid much attention, it's such a nice relaxing ride. It won't cause you any loss of time, you'll have plenty of time to get back and forth and enjoy everything.

No problem asking tons of questions, we all have! I'm not good with the times for things, but I'm sure someone will be along who is!

WOW thats amazing! Thanks so much! We wont need to leave an hr early to make our ADrs! I will give it about 20 min atleast (GF,CR,MK,EP) on the monorail and maybe 30 with the boat and 30 with the bus! I dont think I will EVER want to stay anywhere else with this luxury! LOL

Thanks everyone for their patience with my 101 questions, you all will make my trip even that much more amazing!

Wow. I posted really quick then read the thread and already another page is added! I love this thread - everyone is so friendly and likes to talk about the Poly!!

Thanks to everyone for the photos! It makes me feel like I'm back at the Poly :3dglasses

Can anyone who has been to the Poly recently tell me how the mosquito situation is? I've never had a problem with them during any of our other trips, but I also never spent much time outside in the evening at our resort. I plan on spending lots of time enjoying the beautiful Poly grounds at night, watching the fireworks from the beach, etc., so I wondered if I should bring bug spray.
Thanks!

Disney has a whole insect control program and that is why even when you are in the middle of a swamp on a humid Florida day, you aren't getting bitten up by every bug created since the dawn of time. I mean, have you been to Animal Kingdom? Don't you think you should have welts all over your body? But nope! LOVE DISNEY!!!!

Count me in as another Tokelau fan. We love it so much, we were even willing to move after our first night to get there!! We also prefer the side NOT facing the quiet pool (the east side). It's so quiet and peaceful, nice grassy area, the lagoon is just to the left. We're first floor fans.

DITTO!!!!!

We just got back from the Poly and bingo was played around the pool. My DD loved it!

I spend every afternoon at the volcano pool when I'm at the Poly and have never seen them do any games :confused3 I hope they have them when I am there in September though!!

I guess I didn't post that many, but I'll have to go through DD, Emma's, photos - she is a WAY better photographer than I am - and see what she has. It was a bit of a rough weekend - one of our cats died yesterday really suddenly. It was heartbreaking and terrible, but now she is at peace. She was fine when we got home last week, but over the past few days just hadn't been herself and yesterday went downhill FAST. Everyone around here is pretty sad today! :sad1:

I'm sorry to hear about this. My cat is 16 1/2 and it looks like I have to put him down. I'm having a really hard time actually making the appointment but my husband is adamant. Well, maybe I could choose the cat over the husband.... Well, something to lighten my mood at least. And I do choose the hubby but my Stormin Norman is my 'first baby'. This is so hard!!! I need to do it before our vacation though so I'm not worried about how sick he is when we are gone for a week. I love my cat but doesn't it just tear your heart out when they pass away??? Anyone else have to put your pet down? I feel horrible for making that decision. Sorry, totally a tangent there.

Zuzu, I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. I know losing a pet is so sad. I really hope you and your family feel better soon.

I'm very sorry to hear about your kitty. It is one of my big concerns this trip. My cats are 17 years old and one of them isn't doing well. We're having someone house sit this trip just to keep an eye on him.

My thoughts are with you.

You need to be careful with the bus. Depending on where you're going and how closely to schedule the buses are running, crowd levels, etc..., you may end up waiting a while at the bus stop. Normally, it is not too big of a deal, but occasionally, you'll sit and wait for a bus for some time (we waited 40 minutes for a DHS bus on our last trip).

If you only allow 30 minutes for travel, and you just miss a bus, you're stuck for 20 minutes right there. Then you have to hope the next bus is on time, etc...

We always leave early for ADRs and just go enjoy the area around the restaurant for a little while, or ask very politely if we can be seated a little early :)

How often do they replenish appetizers, If i were to come in at 6:45pm would there be anything left?
Also I'm brain dead, Does the resort monorail at POLY take u to Epcot or do you have to get on at the TTC, I've totally forgotten.

My experience is that they replenish the appetizers as necessary. It should not be a problem at 6:45 unless they completely run out of one thing.

The resort monorail only goes GF-MK-CR-Poly. To get to Epcot via monorail you would need to go to the TTC.

So since we were chatting in room coffee makers a little earlier... Do all guest rooms have them, even when staying CL? If they do, what size filters do they take? I'm thinking we'll end up bringing our own coffee & filters so we can have some decent brew while in our room, we can get the fixings in the CL lounge.

Also a few have mentioned Rum :cutie: Are you bringing bottles with you, purchasing there in the gift shop (wouldn't THAT be fab!) or picking up off site and bringing back to the room. A girl's gotta prepare ya know, LOL! :thumbsup2

DH's birthday "cake". His bday was the day before we left, so I didn't want a big cake so private dining made this up for us. yummy!

Ohhh, this is awesome! How did you arrange this? I want to do something for DH for our anniversary but didn't really want a whole cake. I would love something like this at our anniversary dinner.
TIA!!

My DD just started running a 102 fever today. Oh man!!! I figure she'll probably be better by the weekend, but now I have to worry about the rest of us catching it.....

Broken toe, sick kid, I'm starting to think this trip wasn't meant to be... :confused3

Oh no!! Sending get well vibes your way!!!
