Country Bear Jamboree

My brother loves the CBJ, and as a kid he collected all the stuffed animals from it. Although I liked it as a kid, but I find now I can't even understand what they are saying as the sound system is so bad, it is in sad shape. I hope disney at least updates it and fixes it.

But I love the Nemo musical, I am surprised some people don't care for it...

Like someone else pointed out, there is something for everyone at Disney, no matter what you enjoy!

I remember liking this as a kid in the 80s but I think it was different. Something about them being on vacation. Does anyone else remember this? I last saw this in 2003 and couldn't hear a thing the sound was so bad. My husband hated it and we haven't been since. I would like to see it again if it could be understood. I was in the back row of the theater. Is the sound any better up front?

That was actually the third version of the show, "Country Bear Vacation."

It had a Summertime theme, with the bears dressed in swim-wear and Hawaiian shirts, etc.
and singing songs that ranged from Beach Boys to camp songs.

I actually saw a Country Bear movie on cable TV the other day. We were flipping through the guide and saw it and had to watch it.

It was no Oscar winner but it was cute.

It may be better if you could understand anything being said...I like the history of it but it needs up dating...the Tiki Birds are just as bad...I actually like HoP and CoP....at least I know whats going on in those 2

My father used to sing Blood on the Saddle when I was growing up. My sisters and I thought it was some stupid song he made up and wouldn't believe him when he said it was a real song. Can you imagine the looks on our faces when we saw CBJ for the first time and heard Big Al sing that? That's why I go every time(or almost every time) I visit the MK,and why I bawled like a baby when I "met" Big Al in March 2008. I don't ever want to see that attraction gone.

You better believe we see the Bears every time we're down there. It was always one of my favorites as a kid so now I want my kids to always remember it. And they do enjoy the show, my boys are 16, 11, & 9. Then again, they also think the Tiki Birds are a riot.

I like CBJ although I liked the other versions - Christmas and Vacation Hoedown - better than the original. Sometimes Disney can do an update and improve on the original.

I would miss CBJ but if they could do a - GOOD - Woodys Roundup that would be interesting and would fit in the area.

CGJ has actually withstood the test of time pretty well considering how old it is. I remember first seeing it at DL in the 60's.

Actually, it opened at WDW before it opened at DL, so you couldn't have seen it in the 60s. But it was developed in the 60s for the Mineral King ski resort in CA. When that fell through, it sat until it opened at WDW.

I loved it as a kid, then as a young adult, I thought is was cheesy and lame. But as I've gotten older, I've really come to love it along with all the classic Disney attractions. I've got the whole soundtrack on my computer and I listen to it regularly. But then again, I've also become a big fan of bluegrass music.

That's the one I saw as a kid. I first went to disneyworld with my parents in 1986. Some quick google fu had me find this http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/id60.htm and that is definately the show I saw as a kid. They should consider bringing that version back as a way to freshen up the bears again. It's on youtube as well. Thanks Robo for the info to help me find that out again for the trip down memory lane.

It would be worthwhile for them to give it a total makeover. As it currently stands, I get a better show while eating dinner at a Bugaboo Creek restaurant.

the bear swinging from the roof singing, she is terrible..makes you want to go get eaten by a bear and put out of your misery!!

That's actually Jean Shepard, who was a pioneer in country music.

Country Bears is a family favorite for us. Both DH and I have fond memories from our childhood and our kids both love it - ds could sing the whole show when he was 4. My mom always loved Tex Ritter - thus Big Al was always her favorite. I had a huge stuffed Big Al when I was a kid.

I've given up on CBJ. Every time I watch, it breaks. Serriously, every single time.

Oh my! It's moth eaten and moldy, but it is sooo classic Disney!

As a California and DL girl, I was heartbroken when they removed CBJ at DL and replaced it with Pooh. This show had amazing memories for me, seeing it as a kid, watching my friends fall asleep during the show at Grad Night (one has since passed away so it really touches me to think about it), and taking my kids to see it when they were too little to ride Splash Mountain next door. I saw it again and again when my kids were little. Having the moose at the end of the Pooh ride at DL is an insult for us! Hate that ride (it's different at DL than DW).

I can't wait to see my old friends, the Country Bears, when we return to DW in March. It's been tooooo long!

:wizard: We always enjoyed it when the kids were little, but honestly, I don't think they've cleaned it since then and my youngest is now 25!
I find it depressing to go in there and see how neglected this attraction is...it's so "unDisney-like" to have an attraction in such sorry condition. Shame on Disney management! :sad2:

That's not the case.
There have been regular refurbs over the years.

I remember when even the audio got a major upgrade just a few years ago.
