Wow...I didn't know that at the end, it is at the discretion of the hotel managers. Good to know!! :scared::scared: I could see with hotel discounts, but also FD? I was always told by the CM's (I know I know) that FD is always applied to the existing ressie. I dont know.....:confused3 This is my first attempt at the FD deal.

I know.. this can all be VERY confusing.. I swear I spent the first 18 months on the DIS learning just exactly how all this stuff worked and even then there's still lots to learn.

But rest assured if the F/D is always applied to the existing ressie - why would so many people (see this thread) have been told it couldn't be done without switching resorts or dates?

I wish (oh BOY do I wish) it sorta did work that way -- it would be a lot less grief on these boards every spring. :goodvibes

Just so everyone is clear..... WE DO HAVE INTERNET IN CANADA.... :rotfl:

Althought it does get cold aiming our dish on top of our igloo.

Sorry just helping spread the sterotypes for our friends down south.
"WORK MEETING" - not sit at my desk and play on the internet all day (like I do here).

Did you include all the possible extra charges, like tax, more than 2 adults in the room, fridge? Also, sometimes the weekend rates are higher than the weekday rates. Were you using a AAA discount?

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious... :)

Yes, all things were the same.

Again, the various dining options are more then just for the parks, it also applies to the Hotels..Each resort hotel manager is responsible for the dining within the hotel and the profit. The same also applies to the managers of the parks themselves.

Everything operates within budgets ( realistic ones or not), FD or any promos, has to go directly against the operating budget of the resort/park that hosts it.

It only makes logical sense as you look at Disney as a whole - there are hundreds, thousands, millions of guests every year that come into the parks without codes. Some just drop ins or visits. A smart hotel manager always reserves back rooms at full price for these folks. These rooms are the high profit ones....the code ones are the lower profit ones...which ones would you hold back if your job depended on a profit margin???

Same applies to the FD - the Hotel manager is given a budget to operate the restaurant. FD HAS to be subtracted from that budget monthly/quarterly/whatever. If every diner in there is FD - where does the money come from???

I would be shocked if they were full for the fall.:scared1:

My friend just went last week (they go every spring break) and she doesn't remember the last time that they were able to go into rides with minimal waiting. Which tells me if it is light around spring break then it will probably be quite light in the fall. I don't have a magic wand :wizard:, it just would make sense.

I did call Disney this morning because I made a boo boo on our ressies.....:littleangel::littleangel: The man I spoke to said that he believed that the promos for the fall are due to come out anytime.:dance3::dance3: He also said that the phones have been blowing up because people are anxiously waiting for the fall promos. He said that they couldn't wait for an announcement to be made.:rotfl::rotfl:
when I called last week, the woman told me to pay attention to the internet the last week of the month. (but then again....that's the CM talking....so, who knows. I think only Mickey knows at this point)

ooooo even in North Bay? :rotfl2:

OMG ...I am sorry to get snippy, but did I just waste my typing???

The CM's on the phone can say anything they want to get a reservation ( please don't tell me they don't have quotas to fill!!!!). Unless you get a solid quote, the supervisor and his working "badge" number, then it is only your word against theirs..sure sometimes they will own up - if they are still working...chances are you are out of luck..oh yes and get the quote on hold with a email reservation number.

The cost of Disney to operate is going through the roof..the land taxes alone that they are getting charged must be ridiculous...this recession is hurting all...

I know it only makes logical sense for Disney to offer more codes in hopes of loosening wallets in these tough times, but SPECULATION that folks will come if codes are offered do not pay utility bills....

Don't get me wrong I think Disney is simply gouging these days...and it will someday backfire on them..and I don't approve of their pricing schemes, but blame the board of execs, not the middle managers.

you didn't waste your time... some of us got it and appreciated it :)

WOW...I stepped away for a few hours and the thread is 10pages longer!!

This is half correct.

If you are already booked, you have a room. If you call for the promo after they are out of the promo rooms, you are STILL going to get the discount for the room you already have.

The only advantage I see with booking before promo is...you don't have to spend all the time on the phone with the CM to give all the names and addresses(if you have people who do not live with you staying in room or booking an additional room)...but I do agree NO ROOMS=NO PROMO

For the record, Disney DOES in fact read these boards and find stuff like that out. :goodvibes

:idea::hourglassLet's make the Diser's sweat a little longer :lmao::rotfl:
Cruel...Just CRUEL I tell ya!:surfweb::sad2:

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to suggest you "insist" on something that you are not owed is just mean spirited. You are just giving the poor employee of Disney a hard time over something that they do not control.
Totally agree! Poor CM's

Knox, I hope the fall promo is released SOON just for your sanity alone! :goodvibes

Me too! They are making you work this year...:surfweb:Keep the peace...:surfweb:Keep the peace:hippie:

Maybe next year you should take a DISNEY vacation this time of year:lmao:

Great Job!! Keep up the good work:goodvibes

Awesome!!!! Thanks......for the information. I seem to get different information, but I WILL take your word for it.

Awesome!!!! Thanks......for the information. I seem to get different information, but I WILL take your word for it.

I will take this opportunity to state something that bears repeating...

MANY MANY people who pre-book will have no problem in switching their reservation to the promo. MANY.

Because of that.. you'll see many posters tell you "I've done this year in and year out with no problem" ...

But that is NOT because they prebooked..

They would have had just as much luck booking an all new reservation at the same time they called to make the switch.

In any event.. we're beating a rather ill horse at this point.

Let's just hope whatever they come up with - it meets everyone's needs and they do it SOON! :lmao:

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:......poor Mickey, always left holding the bag.

Well, I'm two and a half weeks out from my due date. I swear I will pitch a fit if this is released while I'm in the hospital. :rotfl2: I'm bringing my cell with me...good ole E-Ticket app! :thumbsup2

Well, it is after 7am on Monday, April 13 and I called to see if there were any new promotions i.e. Free Dining. Was told by CM that the only Free Dining offers he's seen were for QSD via a package booked w/a Pin Code. :headache: And the only general public promo currently out is the one on the commercial where Kids play & eat free. So in a nut shell, I guess we'll still have to wait & see :confused3 I was so hoping to hear some good news to share :hippie:

your new addition and I share a birthday!! I was getting Disney warm for her while you were welcoming her to the world!! Its a great birth day - hope she enjoys it as much as I do (cuz FD at WDW is always my b-day present!!!)

Well at least it is a Friday. Tell the little one to be sure to come exactly on time, so you can be home by Monday. :rotfl: I don't think they should offer any deals over the weekend. :thumbsup2

Why is listening to my "nonsense" any better than listening to a moderator on a board, who is NOT a CM?

my issue with your argument is that you are relying on cajoling/begging/fighting w/customer service to get it. I think most people here are trying to get the promo without having to fight for an exception to be made for them and that is what CanadianGuy is giving them.

Exactly. Who wants to start their vacation with a fight - especially one that you might not win? ;) That's just really not the kind of advise most people scour these boards looking for - or will follow. (I hope :rolleyes1:rotfl:)
