This is half correct.

If you are already booked, you have a room. If you call for the promo after they are out of the promo rooms, you are STILL going to get the discount for the room you already have.

So if you booked at rack rate at the POP and called to switch to free dining at the POP, but the FD rooms at POP are booked. What you are saying is that the CM is still going to give you a discount on the room at the POP? If that is what you are saying then where is the discount coming from?

What I'm saying, I think, is if you book rack rate at POP, and FD comes out, even if the "FD rooms" are booked, they are still going to give you Free Dining.

See the post above from the user who could not get what they wanted at BW... that's simply not true. Or ask the many folks who posted about having to switch resorts from P/C in the past couple of years on the fall promo.

If that were true - I wouldn't be on this crusade.

I'm sorry if you don't believe me.. But I don't make this stuff up. I offer the advice that I know to be true to help people book what they want.

In fact, there is a post here on the boards from a CM who explained this in fine detail backing up what I saying. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Disney says one thing and then you hear other things that contradict each other......I'm confused:confused3:confused3:confused3

It wasn't free dining, but I know, on our last trip, we had to switch resorts in order to get a promotion that was offered after we had booked.

It guarantees you that you're going to get a room at THAT resort, doesn't it?

no, it doesn't... unless you are willing to keep the price (rack rate) w/no discount that you booked...

because the two pools of rooms at a single resort are separated... there's the rack rate pool w/2000 rooms swimming in it and there's the promo-rate pool w/500 rooms swimming in it... even if you toss your rack rate room back in it's pool, it does nothing to increase the number of rooms in the promo-rate pool...
(somewhat hypothetical numbers)

It's not that I don't believe that's the policy. It's that I don't believe it's a hard and fast rule. If you stick to your guns, ask for a manager, etc., you will get free dining at the room you are booked at.

I have been confused about the same thing. Last year I had been pricing a stay at Pop Century with and without free dining. When I booked with free dining, it was less than I had been looking at by paying for the dining plan but it was more than I had previously priced without the dining plan. I hope this makes sense.:confused3

Perhaps even though the Dining Plan is "free" , you have to pay any applicable taxes for said DP, even if it is free? That could account for the price difference :confused3

Yes, I don't know why anyone would say that. If a room/resort is not avail for a particular offer it's not. We had 2 rooms booked at WL with the 40% PIN. The day the AP discounts came out I tried to get it applied and no luck. I tried almost every day as well the Stanard or Woods rooms never came up. Yes, I could have booked bunk rooms for quite a bit more but we needed the queen beds! SO if they don't have it they don;t..

I selfishly am hoping the same thing. I have been going crazy waiting for FD, but I will be in Canada for a work meeting all of next week - with 0 access to the internet. My luck - FD will be annouced next week....

Just so everyone is clear..... WE DO HAVE INTERNET IN CANADA.... :rotfl:

Althought it does get cold aiming our dish on top of our igloo.

Sorry just helping spread the sterotypes for our friends down south.

This is a stupid question, but I need to know.

If I book a room at CBR the same day the fall promotion comes out, will I have a good chance of getting in?

I'm a little worried about this.

Did you include all the possible extra charges, like tax, more than 2 adults in the room, fridge? Also, sometimes the weekend rates are higher than the weekday rates. Were you using a AAA discount?

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious... :)

YOu have a good chance, but no guarantee. Call the day it comes out. You may have to change resorts there's never a guarantee that an offer will be out there for the resort/dates you have booked. They are discounts to sell unbooked rooms basically. and in theory your room is already booked and not in the pool. There has to be another room in the pool of rooms avail for an offer.

:rotfl: We just use our satellite dishes as boats because of the non-stop rain in Seattle. ;)

All I can tell you is this:

You would have exactly the same success rate with booking on that day.. as you would booking *something* now and trying to switch it over to the promo at the same time.

That's all I can say. Promo inventory is based on how busy the resort appears to be for the dates of the promo at the time the promo inventory is assigned.

A very busy resort = very few promo rooms.

An empty resort = MANY promo rooms.

Curious to see if anyone has had any personal experience in this. Getting told no at a resort, but eventually getting it after going up the chain of command.

Exactly why we booked a value with the intention of upgrading with a good promo, I'll hopefully make room for someone else ;) I really don't want to stay at Pop, but I will.

How can you possibly stand it to aim your dish? Don't your fingers freeze?? :rotfl:

Be ready to call REALLY early. Helps if you are flexible. There may or may not be rooms available for the resort of your choice.

Now I see Your reasoning....I never worked in Disney but did work for a large retail corporation in customer service, when a person is unhappy with company policy, then it is up to the customer service rep or manager (ergo the CM in CRO or the Manager) to satify the caller on a "one to one basis" and overide the system in order to make that one customer Happy.

That's exactly what I"m saying.
