ANOTHER 21 days in WDW+DXDDP=hundreds of food pics (COMPLETED 3/2!)

Today we took advantage of the club level offerings for breakfast. I thought the selection was ample and the only think BWI lacked compared to AKL was oatmeal, which wasn't a big deal.

As it was very quiet in the lounge I was able to take some pictures of the selection.

Selection of Cereals

Fresh fruit, V8 and yogurt

Grapefruit, Raspberry/Apple Turnovers, cinnamon rolls, chocolate pastries. The pastries were always fresh and delicious, I assume they came from the Boardwalk Bakery.

Condiments, selection of bagels and plain croissants.
BWI_B4.jpg

I chose half a bagel with cream cheese, fruit and a raspberry turnover which was gorgeous. I've no idea what DH had but no doubt it included at least a couple of pastries.

This was the first day of the trip that we actually had no meals planned, so it was time to sample some of the offerings from the F&W festival.

We spent the morning riding Soarin', Test Track etc, then wandered across to World Showcase around 11:30.

Our first stop was at the Mouse Catch to get some of DH's favourite food, cheese!! He chose the trio which was a good sized portion of cheese for $4.75, consisting of Dorothea (a Dutch Cheese), Piave (Italian Cheese) and Mahon (Spanish Cheese). He enjoyed all 3 samples, with the Mahon being his favourite.

I stopped at Mexico City to try a Quesadilla con Chorizo. The Quesadilla was very soft, but the filling was pretty much just cheese, with a few tiny pieces of chorizo. It was fine, but I would have preferred more chorizo.
fw_ques.jpg

Next we visited India so DH could try the Rice and Lentil Crepe. The crepe was freshly cooked when we ordered it, filled with a dahl like paste, topped with vegetables in a very spicy sauce. He really enjoyed this but felt the sauce was a little too hot.

We then walked round the Germany where I had a Nuernberger Sausage on a Pretzel Roll. This was very nice, the pretzel roll was soft and salty, the sausage was good and the mustard not too spicy. We also shared a glass of Riesling, which was a good sweet wine, served nice and chilled.

DH decided to try the Mushroom Soup with Chive Dumplings from Vienna. This was really good, it had a strong mushroom flavour and contained a few soft, tasty chive dumplings. I had a taste and agreed it was good.

It was very hot outside and I was getting thirsty so we got a Primavera from Italy. This was a very good non-alcoholic strawberry, banana and peach slush, it was sweet but not overly so, and refreshing.
fw_italy.jpg

We then split the Praline Bread Pudding served with Bourbon Caramel Sauce from the Louisiana booth. This was a good bread pudding, soft texture, very sweet. The caramel sauce was nice but we couldn't really taste any bourbon in it.
fw_praline.jpg

DH had a Falafel Pita pocket from the Marrakesh booth. This was a big portion with 3 falafel and salad served in half a pita bread. I can't find the picture of this but he enjoyed it.

I bought some cheese soup from Canada as I'd really enjoyed it when I'd dined at Le Cellier. Again this was really good, strong cheddar and bacon flavours with a little spicy kick. I was going to try the Salmon as it sounded really good, but I had a very sore throat today and figured the soup would help.
fw_chs_soup.jpg

I also sampled the Ham Croquette and a Bacardi Dragon Berry Colada from San Juan. The croquettes were fine, basically deep fried ham and potato coated in breadcrumbs. The colada was nice but it was very sweet and I couldn't really taste any bacardi in it.

Overall we enjoyed the F&W festival again this year. There's not a huge selection of veggie options, but there were enough to keep DH from being hungry!

I HAVE to go to the F&W Festival one year. It looks like so much fun and it combines my two favorite things - food and alcohol:lmao:

Ooooooo, it all looks and sounds absolutely yummy at the F&W Festival :)

Thank you so much for posting these fabulous reviews with pictures! I'm going back in September with my mom, who eats meat, but I'm a vegetarian. I've been trying to choose places that will appeal to both of us, and was really wondering about the options at Coral Reef, Raglan Road, and LTT. Thanks for the help! I look forward to reading the rest of your reviews!

It's really good fun. It can work out expensive as the little samples soon add up, but it's a great way to try new foods.

It was really good, we always go in Sept/Oct so we can at least sample some of the F&W festival offerings.

Disappointing about the lack of chorizo, but everything else looks delicious!

The lack of chorizo was disappointing but the other samples were good.

Great F&W offerings. I like the look of the veggie crêpe from India. :thumbsup2

DH really liked that crepe, it was definitely his favourite from everything he tried.

Love your reviews! Can't wait to try Wolfgang Puck. :cheer2:

Thank you very much. We've always had good meals at Wolfgang pucks, so I hope you enjoy it too.

Wow that raspberry rain sounds yummy.:cool1:

It was a very nice cocktail.

Thank you, I'm glad you've found my reviews useful and I hope you have a fantastic trip in September.

Thank you for taking so many pictures! I love your reviews

Thank you very much.

Tonight we didn't have a meal booked, so headed to the lounge around 6ish to sample some of the appetisers.

I enjoyed the evening appetisers here, for DH AKL CL was probably slightly better, as they nearly always had a veggie hot offering, but otherwise it was very similar.

Vegetable tray and PB&J sandwiches
bwi_ev2.jpg

Hummus, Tzatki and Bread selection - the pita bread was always soft and fresh.
bwi_ev3.jpg

Cheese selection - DH loved this and ate plenty every night. The white cheese in the middle was a soft, tangy cheese which tasted fantastic spread on crackers.
bwi_ev4.jpg

The above dishes were present every night but the hot offerings varied. Tonight it was Pork Wontons and Vegetable Spring Rolls, served with two dipping sauces. Both were very good, and stayed hot underneath the heat lamps.

Here's a couple of plates we selected (I think these were actually from the next night)
I had Pita Bread, Hummus, Chicken Nugget, and I can't remember what the yellow thing was.
DH had bread, cheese and hummus.

We ate in the lounge about 6, wandered around the Boardwalk checking out the various entertainment acts and by 8ish we were feeling slightly hungry. We decided to share a hot dog and fries from Boardwalk Joes (I ate the hotdog and DH had the fries. This was actually a pretty decent hotdog and it's a good, quick option if you're staying at the Boardwalk.
bwjoes_hotdog.jpg

Between 8 and 10 the club lounge served a selection of deserts. There was usually a choice of three or four different items, as well as cookies, brownies and mini cupcakes which were out every night. These pictures are from two different nights but I figured I might as well post them in one update.

We shared this plate, Chocolate Torte, fruit tart and my favourite, chocolate covered strawberry. All were really good and the strawberry was fantastic.
BWi_des.jpg

This was my selection the following night. Pinepple dessert (custard style texture with caramlised pineapple on top, and another chocolate covered strawberry.
bwi_des2.jpg

DH chose tiramisu and a chocolate profiterole, and he enjoyed both of them.

Coming next - Lunch at Rose and Crown

I do like the look of the delicious cakey offerings you've posted. Yum!

I'm pleased to hear your hotdog from BW Joe's was better than the one I had there a few years back. It was literally the worst dog it has ever been my misfortune to be acquainted with (I think it had been cooked for about five years ;) )

I'm anxiously awaiting your next review! I am soooo happy that I found your thread this year. Your 2008 food reviews were the first I'd ever read, and is one of the main reasons hubby and I are getting DxDDP when we go in December for my birthday.

Thanks for all of the pictures and detailed reviews-better than posted menus!!
