OT - Need original baby boy name...

Oh, if this baby is a boy, we plan on naming him Gabriel :). Not a terribly common name, and very cool imo.

Heath...DS's great-grandmother's maiden name, also dad & grandfather's middle name. Very few out there. His pediatrican (big practice) is probably around 65-70 years old and has never had another Heath. The only problem is that people often think you are saying Keith.

We gave out Heath bars when he was born :)

DS's name is Jacen. He is named after my brother Jason but the spelling comes from the Star Wars novels. (My husband picked the spelling...) If DD had been a boy, we were debating between Connor or Mason. (Sean as a middle name...)

I'm a little partial to our DS's name - Truett (or you can spell Truitt). Different but not too out there. I've only ever heard of one other!

My DH's BFF is named Truett!

We were going to name our son Sebastian, but we didn't get very good reactions from the family. We settled on Oliver. I've personally never met an Oliver, but once we started telling people the name we ran across a few people that know an Oliver and my hairdresser who had her baby last month had also chosen Oliver for their son, so there are a few out there.

We have a Sebastian. We too met with some opposition about it, but now everyone agrees that his name fits him. If you truly want a unique name, I would look it up on the SSA website to make sure it is not "popular". I thought Sebastian was unique, but it was the 80th most popular name the year he was born.

My boys are callled Kieran Ross and Liam Jack

Other boys names i like are Declan, Connan, Torren, Eoghann (pronounced yo-own) amd also Rhuairidh (roo ree)

My oldest DS is Kenton - we've only heard of a couple others and they are either older or younger than him. We planned to call him "Kent", but somehow we never did.

2nd DS middle name is Owen. It's a family name and I wish we would've called him that because I love it!

Again, thank you all so much! There are so many wonderful choices here. It's HARD looking through baby name sites and seeing what you like, so getting ideas from others is immensely helpful. THANK YOU!

My favorite new boy name is Reid. I'll never get to use it, but think it's cool and not too common.

My oldest is a Shawn, my youngest a Matt(hew)
If we're lucky enough to have another child and it will be a boy again we will probably name him Kian or Josh. I love the name Shane too, but it's too much like Shawn.
Other names I like are:
Roan, Ronan, Keith, Jason, Brett, Brady, Zack and Dylan.

I like Malcolm..Rex and Troy also are favorites..

My cousin is Titus...

Naming babies can be fun but frustrating!!!! Good luck!

At my school I have a Colton, Bryce, Bryson, Ethan (a few of those, but they're all cute! :goodvibes ), only 1 Andrew in the whole school, Tyler.

My DD's name -Hazen- is actually a boy name. It's my grandfather's middle name, we believe it is Irish.

DS#2's name is Aidan. DS#1's name is Brendan-- much less common, but just as Irish :). Try this website out: http://www.nymbler.com/ You tell it names you like, but aren't quite "perfect" enough, and it spits out other similar names that you might like! It's super cool!! --Katie

If Piper (Olivia) had been a boy, she would have been Chance Oliver.. I like the name Chance a lot, I have heard it a couple times, but definitely not a common name. I also like Ian, which I haven't seen anyone mention, not sure how common it is though. Oliver is a family name :)

My DS is Evan, and while it's not uncommon, I haven't met many little Evans around here. I also liked Owen, Grant, and Wyatt. Harrison is different, too, but not for me. Good luck--you'll know when you meet him.

As a teacher, please, please, please consider the pronunciation of a name you give your child. Every year there is at least one name where the pronunciation just doesn't match the spelling and the poor kid is embarrassed over and over.

Since the OP is going towards Irish names, American teachers are just going to have to deal.

An Irish name that I wanted to use, but DH vetoed b/c it was too "Irishy" was Eammon (pronounced Ay-men) ..I loved it and there is a fish and chips joint in town named Eammon's

Too Irishy, LOL. From our Celtic baby name book, the spelling is Eamonn; we used it and dropped the second N from it, b/c hubby asked me too.

But actually we should have named him Angus, as that is far more like his personality...I see Angus as loud and wild and strong...Eamon to me is more quiet...my Eamon is much more of an Angus to me, but I nixed that one! If only we could wait until kids are 1 or so to name them, so as to do is properly. :) Luckily he also has his quiet and gentle sides. :) And it links up with Edmond, which means Protector, and he certainly is that!!!

OP, I wish I could help. I'm still keeping the one name I adore under wraps; don't want anyone to get the idea from me. :)

But really, if you're getting the name from this sort of thread, it's NOT going to be that unusual, b/c someone has already heard it/used it, etc.

Back when I fell in love with the name Aidan, when Benny and Joon was out, Mr Quinn was the ONLY one I had EVER heard of. Alas, seems many of my generation glommed onto the name just like I did, and they all had their kids first. So an unusual name (in this country) became extremely popular, along with all the variations on spelling, etc. You can't really judge what's going to be popular 10 years from now.

And...you might give them an interesting/unusual name, like my mom did when she named me Molly, and the kid might go the next 30 years YEARNING to be a Tiffany/Stephanie/Lisa/Mike/Matt etc etc, just to find someone else with the same name.... You can really never win, b/c all the Lisas/Stephanies/Mikes etc I knew wished to be less usual!

Our DS is Luca I liked Lucas but it was becoming very popular so he is not Luca Biagio (italian for Brian) Good Luck and have fun.

PS I was looking at an Atlas when I saw the name Lucca a small town in Italy.
