Disney with two broken arms - (Final Day 1/23)

I'm loving your report! You have such a great attitude.

I must admit, I started at page 1 and just made it through and have NO idea what my 4 year old twins have been doing all that time. The house is eerily quiet! (Although I know they haven't escaped thanks to the handy door chime...)

Must investigate!

Okay - in case I made anyone nervous, they had just raided the pantry and were eating Triscuits and Craisins and trying to be quiet so I wouldn't find them.:rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Too funny! :lmao:

Glad the twins are still doing well and just raiding the pantry. Welcome.

We left off at story time with Belle. The girls loved getting chosen for storytime.:thumbsup2 We didn't stick around to meet Belle individually since we'd already gotten pictures w/ Belle at Akershus. We immediately went to see the stage show.

DisneyWorld2008024.jpg

It was one where the characters come down to greet afterwards. Donald came right up to DD7 since she was up front.
DisneyWorld2008026.jpg

DD4 went to greet Donald too before we left. We'd already met Donald at Epcot so weren't too concerned w/ getting a good photo.
DisneyWorld2008027.jpg

Next we briefly left MK to take the monorail to the Contemporary. I had forgotten to print out a receipt for preordering the photopass and we would need it for our photo shoot in a couple days. I was told that Contemporary had a place to print off email. This was our first monorail ride this trip. DD7 had no problem running up to CMs to ask to ride in front but unfortunately it was already taken. We took this quick pic. of CM since we did not book res. there this time.
DisneyWorld2008028.jpg

As we were taking the escalator down we had a scary moment. DH and DD7 got on the escalator before DD4 and I and were almost to the bottom when we got on. Well for some reason DD4 put one foot on and did not follow with her other foot. I did not realize this at first so was a little farther down when Faith started crying. I turned to see her fallen on the moving escalator. :scared1: I ran up and tried to pick her up forgetting my arms didn't work. So then I fell down with her. DD4 started crying harder and I couldn't lift myself up. Thankfully DH was there to come to our rescue. He sprinted back up the stairs and lifted us both up before we hit the bottom.:goodvibes That was a little scary though. We would have been in trouble had DH not been there.

After making our copy we headed back to MK. Once again the front of the monorail was already taken. It was a little before 6 p.m. and we had 6:20 reservations at LTT for dinner. We decided to go check in early since we'd had good luck w/ that so far. Have I mentioned it was MNSSHP night? I had originally planned on going this night since a prepurchase discount was available for this night but DH preferred to wait until our last night. I really think MNSSHP really contributed to LTT being very busy. When we arrived they said we probably wouldn't be seated until our reservation time. It was entertaining watching people show up in their costumes. Well we waited and waited and waited. We were not seated at our res. time. We were seated 20 min. after that. (40 min. after arriving.)

We did enjoy our dinner at LTT. We all enjoyed the family style food. First came Dale.
DisneyWorld2008029.jpg

DisneyWorld2008031.jpg

The characters here did a great job interacting rather than just signing and moving on. In fact I think it was the best character greet I've seen in terms of interaction. Here Dale took our pin and balanced in on his nose. The girls thought this was funny.
DisneyWorld2008033.jpg

Next came Pluto w/ a pumpkin on his head.
DisneyWorld2008035.jpg

Well next came . . . . . . . . Gee, it looks like Dale but we've already seen Dale. DD7 wasn't paying much attention to the character at our table and I thought she was being rude. I said hey, this must be Chip. So, the chipmunk then kind of awkwardly put a finger up like to say "one moment" and walked away. We weren't quite sure what that was about.

Some time went by and the same character came back. The girls took a picture and had him sign. He signed DALE.:sad2: The Character looked at me and kind of shrugged. I'm guessing that there must have been a CM change under the costume and poor Dale was unsure where he left off. So, I'm sure most of you know your chipmunk facts better than me but for those of you who don't. Dale has a big round brown nose and Chip has a small black nose. DD7 seemed upset that Dale took up two pages in her signature book.

Next came Goofy. He was a lot of fun. He used DH head as a desk when signing both girls' books.
DisneyWorld2008040.jpg

DisneyWorld2008041.jpg

Then of course Miss Minnie herself. She was so sweet.
DisneyWorld2008042.jpg

After we took that picture she signed for us to take a separate picture of each girl with her. I'm glad she did. For some reason we almost never thought to do that. The girls seemed excited to get their one-on-ones w/ Minnie.
DisneyWorld2008044.jpg

DisneyWorld2008043.jpg

And finally . . . . . Chip w/ the small black nose came. DD7 told Chip how Dale had signed her book twice. It was too cute. Chip put his hand on his head and shook his head. Then he motioned his finger around his head to mean crazy. Chip shared the sign page that Dale had used and DD7 was happy w/ that.
DisneyWorld2008046.jpg

Overall great dinner. I think I read recently LTT will be ending character dining soon. Is that true? That is a big disappointment if so because they did a great job.

So, as soon as we stood up to leave a CM dressed like a zombie came straight to us and told us he was going to give us a tour out. I was not surprised about this since I had heard that they escort out people who finish dining after MNSSHP starts. The CM was a little too much into his character. He was a little creepy. Didn't talk to us much. We made it almost to the castle when DH remembered we'd left the stroller with some of our belongings behind. CM seemed a little put off by this and the girls and I stood and waited with him. He was checking his watch and I couldn't figure out if he was acting to be bothered as part of his character of if he was really bothered. When we went to the Halloween party later that week I realized that he was one of the zombie's with the shovel in the parade. DH finally returned and took this one picture as we left.
DisneyWorld2008047.jpg

Hmm looks like people waiting for the parade. I bet our zombie was worried about making it back to get ready for the parade. As we left DD4 was a little frightened by the music and kept saying, "let's get out of here." I was beginning to get second thoughts about taking them to the party at the end of the week.

We made it back to our hotel w/ enough time to get in our evening swim and fireworks. Although I must admit that by now I was the only one really watching the fireworks.

Up Next:hourglass: The one park we've not yet visited. Who knows?:confused3

I have loved reading about your MK adventures. When we first went to Disney in 2003 I thought SM was the best thing since peas & carrots. When we went in June I was able to study the ride since DD 6 rode it at least 4 times. It seemed more jerky and not as cool. They were having major mechanical issues on our last night at Disney. I'll be curious to see the new changes. Oh, by the way. Can you PM me the info about the ebay store where you got the outfits? They are sooooooo cute! :cutie:

What cute pictures! :goodvibes I really love those dresses! We booked LTT again for December since my parents have never been. I'm wondering if they'll be decked out for Christmas? I still can not believe they're taking the characters out of there! :confused3

Great update! I always wanted to try LTT. I also read that they were doing away with the character part. :sad1:

I'm glad you guys made it off the escalator ok. That would have been so scary. I hate escalators!

I'm glad you escaped near disaster on the escalator:scared1: I've had two near calamities on one myself..Great MK update:thumbsup2

Yeah, I really don't get why they'd take the characters out. Especially since they do such a good job.:sad2:

Thanks. Yes LTT just wouldn't be the same w/o characters.:sad2:

I'm glad you escaped near disaster on the escalator:scared1: I've had two near calamities on one myself..Great MK update:thumbsup2

I've heard of all the accidents that happen on escalators but never had trouble before. It is a scary feeling when you can't get up and even scarier when you're responsible for a child.:goodvibes

Great update. Sorry about the near miss. Glad it worked out ok. My son's favorite characters are Chip N Dale. We were told to tell them apart, Chip has a chocolate "chip" nose (ie, the darker nose). Can't wait for the next installment!

Another great update!:thumbsup2 Great pics!

How scary about the escalator! At least it sounds like neither of you were hurt enough to have that ruin your evening, but still! Thank goodness your husband saw or heard you in time to come to your rescue!!!:goodvibes

I love the pics from LTT! I did not know that they dressed up for Halloween!
The one thing you didn't mention was the food - was that on purpose?:rotfl:

How funny that they escourt you out! Did they ask when you checked in whether you had paid for the party or not?:confused3 I guess that is meant to prevent people who would book dining reservations to keep them in the parks after the party starts from sticking around and enjoying a parade that they didn't pay for.

Can't wait for more!:goodvibes

They didn't ask if we were going to the party until we sat and a lady was walking around w/ green bracelets. A lot of people thought we were going to the party because the girls had on their Minnie dresses and ears. I think they just watched for people leaving w/o bracelets.:goodvibes

We left off after an absolutely fabulous day at Magic Kingdom. The girls got to be in Belle’s story time, DD4 got special Minnie ears from a DTCM, and we had a great character dinner at LTT.

So next up is our 8th day (of 11) in the world and we are finally off to Hollywood Studios. We had the Fantasmic dinner package that evening so once again we let the girls sleep in. This was another great “me-time” morning for me. I got up and actually managed to carry down some dirty laundry in a bag. Even though my right arm was still broken and my left wrist still in a cast, I had much more movement than 8 days ago and much less pain. So I got my coffee, bought a paper, sat by the pool and read up about what Hurricane Ike did to Texas while waiting for the laundry. After about an hour DH called my cell and the everyone was awake. DH came down and helped me fold the clothes and bring them up.

Once we arrived at the bus stop we waited for quite a while. I don’t remember how long. I just remember thinking that “waiting” seemed to be the theme for the day. Not that it ruined the day. We just had been pretty fortunate up till now to escape most waiting. When we finally boarded the bus I took this picture of the time in the bus. I remember thinking it would be good for remembering times for the TR. This was the only time I did it though.
DisneyWorld2008048.jpg

Since HS is very close to POP I imagine we were in the park before 11 a.m.

image176.jpg

We were all surprised at the number of people in Hollywood Studios this day. It was the first time on our trip that we felt a little crowded. By this point I had thrown out all our touring guides as we hadn’t needed them because of light crowds.

The first thing we did was go straight back to Toy Story to get a FP. I was nervous that they would be gone since I had read that sometimes FP were gone for the day by 10:30 -11 a.m. Well we were lucky. Fast passes were still available and I think the return time was around 5:30-6:30. The stand by line was 80 minutes. Crazy

Next we saw that Little Mermaid would be starting in 10 min. so we got in line. Well along w/ our theme of “waiting” for the day. They of course stopped the line right in front of us. They let a couple w/ just 2 in their party go ahead. So, we had to wait for 30 min. The girls were dead set on seeing the show right then so we sat down and tried to plan what we wanted to do next while waiting. Here you can see DD4 wearing her new Mickey crocs.
DisneyWorld2008053.jpg

Finally we had more time to all stand crowded together in front of the doors. The girls still seemed to be in good spirits.
DisneyWorld2008049.jpg

Well of course since Ariel is DD4s favorite and also among DD7s favorites the girls loved the show. They had seen it last year too but enjoyed it as if it was brand new.

Next we were off to The Great Movie Ride. Along with the “waiting” theme we did have a pretty long wait here as well. This is another ride we did not do last year. I had read about the alien so DH and I were prepared to cover the kiddos eyes for that short stint. Some had warned against taking little ones on it. I am so glad we did. All but the alien section is fantastic and very neat. The girls especially loved the Wizard of Oz section at the end.
DisneyWorld2008050.jpg

Well, everyone was hungry for lunch so we ate at Pizza Planet. It was here that DD7 decided to start pin trading. This became an obsession of hers for the last 4 days which is funny because it didn’t interest her until then.
DisneyWorld2008051.jpg

All 4 of us shared two CS pizzas and the dessert then we were off to see Indiana Jones. This was one show we did not make it to last year so we wanted to be sure we caught it. I’m not sure if the girls thought it was very good but it was interesting.
DisneyWorld2008052.jpg

After Indiana Jones we were off to the Muppet Show! We love our 3-D shows.
DisneyWorld2008054.jpg

So, after that DH wanted to take us all on Star Tours.
DisneyWorld2008055.jpg

DD4 and I had not yet done this ride. DH and DD7 did it last year. DH really likes this ride. I think the girls some-what enjoyed it too. As for me. Not again. It made my stomach queasy. It was also really hot inside the torture . . . Oh I mean space chamber. To each his own I guess.

We did get these cute pictures of the girls outside of Star Tours at least.

image172.jpg

We literally almost sprinted across the park when we realized it was about time for Playhouse Disney. I think this was going to be our last opportunity to see since we had dinner reservations. I was so worried since we hadn’t had much luck timing attractions and it seemed busier this day. Well the running paid off because we arrived just as they yelled out, “last call for Playhouse Disney”. They shut the doors right behind us.

This is truly one of my favorites as well as the girls. I Love Playhouse Disney. I also love how they change the show every year. It will make me sad when the girls think they are too old for this. There’s nothing better than sitting on the carpet and playing with bubbles while watching you’re favorite characters tell stories.
DisneyWorld2008056.jpg

At first I thought this picture needed rotated then I realized I was sitting up in background. Therefore, DD4 must be laying down.
DisneyWorld2008057.jpg

Next DH and I momentarily separated. I always forgot to grab the camera when we separated. He went to get FP for Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster while I took the girls to Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. We love this playground. Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to play here before leaving for or reservation at Mama’s Melrose. We didn’t get any pictures here since DH had the camera.:sad2:

Up Next: Mama’s Melrose and Fantastic Fantasmic!

Another great installment, as usual!:thumbsup2

I love the matching green outfits!!! You all look so cute!

And either you were getting more ability back in your hands and arms or DH was getting increasingly impressive with the hairstyling! Your updo was impressive, and I loved your younger daughter's hair pretties!:goodvibes

Still following along and loving your report. I noticed your DD7 has a YOAMD pin/lanyard on? Did the Dream Team find you, (did I miss that somewhere) or did you win that another way? We got 3 of them at different times through the mail in postcards this year. Your girls are real troopers and holding up well. So are you for that matter.

Love the green tops you girls have on this day...very cute!! I love how you coordinate you together.:lovestruc DD4 hair looks so cute with her ribbons and love the Mickey crocs, just got some for my DS's at Marshall's for $10 a couple of weeks ago for our upcoming trip.:thumbsup2 I didn't realize how long your trip was...good for you!!! Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your day.:goodvibes

So glad you got the FP for TSM! :thumbsup2 You guys got a lot done in a short time (so far). I see you guys got a PP person by the Star Wars thing....that is cool! We never saw a PP person there, only at the Jedi training. Those borders make the picture so much better! That's a great pic of you all under the hat!

terrific post. Sorry to hear about the waiting. Great pictures and I have one question, were you able to buy DD7's pin layard or did a DTCM give it to her?
