Can't wait for your first chapter, hon! DS and I have been under the weather and I need something fun to look forward to.

Everyone was up bright and early on Saturday morning. Bright and early as in 5 a.m. Although we had a 9:15 a.m. flight and had lots of time, we all knew NYC airports are notorious for being disorganized and crazy. We didn't know what to expect. I had visions of hordes of people flocking to the security checkpoint.

Since I have airport paranoia, I arranged for car service to pick us up at 6:15. We're only a 15 minute drive from LaGuardia, but I didn't want to take any chances. Whenever I think it'll be a quick drive somewhere, it ends up taking a long time. Construction and traffic are usually to blame. Construction and traffic before 7 a.m. you may ask. Are you serious? Yes, unfortunately I am very serious. I live near two bridges that are often backed up into the parkway because of construction. Not good!

Everyone decided to camp out at my place the night before. I live the closest to the airport, so it made sense. Luckily, I have two bathrooms. This made getting ready easy breezy. As usual, I was the last one ready. I kind of like to take my time in the morning. T was just anxious to get to the airport. He was ready to leave for the airport on Thursday.

Once we were all ready, we started carrying suitcases downstairs before the car service arrived. Just as the last bag was brought downstairs, car service pulled up. The driver arrived at 6:00, fifteen minutes early. The driver told us we didn't have to leave right away since he was early. We decided to just head to the airport. We would just have more time to stroll through the airport shops and get breakfast.

We left Bayside at 6:00 and encountered zero traffic. The Cross Island and Grand Central Parkways were moving. No construction!!!! :yay: We were zipping along. I was pretty excited.

Well, the excitement ended when we got to LaGuardia. There were cars everywhere dropping off for flights. And the departure section at American seemed extra busy. The driver was able to find a space near the curb, pulled in, and placed our luggage on the curb. We paid the driver, got a smart cart for our luggage, and went through the automatic doors.

As soon as we were inside we noticed that the airport was packed. The lines to check luggage were LONG! There were people everywhere. Where did all of these people come from???? Did American have 300 flights leaving Saturday morning? What was going on?

After the initial shock, I left mom, dad, and T with the luggage while I went to print out boarding passes. Once I got the boarding passes, my directionally challenged dad found a line to check luggage. I suggested that we wait in the line nearest the kiosk where I printed my boarding passes, but my dad insisted we stay put. Well, after about 15 minutes on that line, an American Airlines employee told everyone to line up where you printed your boarding passes.

We quickly got off of that line. I decided to wait in the other line, while the rest of my family waited off to the side with the luggage. Once at the counter, they could wheel the luggage over. The lines were kind of narrow and it would have been difficult to manuever the smart cart. After about another 20-30 minutes, we were at the counter. We checked our luggage with ease. Thank goodness!

Free of excess baggage, we headed over to the security checkpoint. The line was so long. But luckily, it moved rapidly. We were through security in no time.

Up next: Finding our gate and airport rip-offs.

WOO HOO!!!

A chapter!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Glad to hear your morning went well, for all intensive purposes.

Can't wait to read more!

I'm the same way. The whole check in process stresses me out. I just want to be through that and security and then I can sort of relax!

Thanks for posting at enchanted also. I have a hard time trying to keep up here and there.

Yay! Chapter 1! Sounds like things went smoothly, even with the waits and lines. You get used to lines when you go to WDW.

Strange that the airport was so busy early in the morning! But at least you made it through check-in and security with time to spare. whew!

Looking forward to hearing out the airport ripped you off. Makes me feel better about all the times it happens to me!

Which, of course, is every time I have to eat or purchase anything at the airport, and which now always includes at least bottled water.

I'm so glad I fly out of a small airport! I can't imagine the stress of facing a big airport everytime!
