I'm considering purchasing an AP if I can get a room only discount. Is there a way to check and see if they're any discounts left before I purchase the pass?

I booked at POR Jan 24-30. I got the ticket upgrade (the free parker hopper/water parks.) But my room rate was not discounted at all. It was still $149 for the standard room.

Anyone know if I can get a discounted room rate??

I think the room discounts are more prominent on the deluxe resorts. We are staying at the Board Walk villas, and got a huge discount on the room.

i inquired too but Riverside sold out of the rooms alotted for the rate. Last I checked FQ had them but I do not want to switch.

I just looked at rates for your dates and it seems that the discount for the room is about 135 $ for 6 nights, so it isn't much.

Before we decided on the upgrade to AKL from POR, we were given a quote for a discount of $400 for the ticket upgrade and also included about a 15% room discount.

Hmm...I'm wondering if our room rate was actually $135 instead of $149. She never really broke it down for me on the phone.

But I typed in my info to that site and it gave me $1335.24. And then if I add the $133 for insurance it's the same price she gave me.

I keep calling the AP Hotline to see if they've had any studios open up for the AP rate over MLK weekend at VWL - nada! In fact, even in the WL they don't have any woods or courtyard views left! And the OKW studios are gone now too with the AP discount (which is OK with me, I didn't want OKW). But anyway, the AP discount rooms are disappearing fast!

Boy am I glad that I called as soon as the AP rates came out even if I'm only planning a Value stay - $49 per night just to sleep is fine with me. DH & I plan to be at the parks all day anyways!!

You do not have to have an AP to call and book an AP rate (if available). When you get to WDW you will have to purchase at least one adult AP to present when you check in.

Also, how far/long of a bus ride is it from the airport to WDW? Anyone know how the weather in Orlando is in January?

No, use this link to get to the page with the discounted availability. Be aware that rooms are getting very limited, I checked yesterday and there were no deluxes available during our days, glad I booked early. Can't comment on the airport ride but the transpo is free via Magical Express. Weather is iffy, usually 70s during the day. You can book yourself via internet or call, or use a TA (I use Dreams Unlimited).

Thanks for the info. I just checked & there are still value/mod rooms available. We are flexible when we can go - pretty much anytime in Jan/Feb. I'm actually waiting for my MIL to find out when she can go. She's meeting us there for 1 day/night. It complicates things a bit, but a mans got to do.......... LOL! Btw, what link?
