Tim and Lesley Year of Million Compromises/TONS pics- 8/5 help me pg. 164!!!

Hey Lesley, thanks for sharing your Grand Haven vacation with us. It sure does look beautiful. How far is Grand Haven from where you live?
I bet you could probably be anywhere and have a great time with your family just being together.
I bet you are not looking forward to going back to school after the great summer you have had. Does Luke attend the school that you teach at? (I couldnt remember what grade you taught) I know your kids are going to miss you when school starts again. At least you have your next Disney vacation to plan and look forward to.
It was great getting to know you and your family.. thank you for sharing with us. Hopefully this thread will be around a little while longer.. to hold me over until the pre trip report.
I hope you have a great school year.

Thank you again for a great TR! What a beautiful place! You made me tear up when you said tat Lauren is going to have a tough time with you going back to work. It stinks doesn't it? Trying to balance your family and your career. Well, it looks like you do a great job of it! I can't wait for your next pre-Trip! Oh and I love Tim's Yankee shirt!

beautiful pics! you're making me want to go to the beach! i haven't been yet this year. we're going to savannah in early september for the weekend. we usually go out to tybee island so i'll get a small dose then. and also my best friend is getting married in october in destin and the beach there is BEAUTIFUL. can't wait for that! thanks for making me look forward to the sand and sun! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your mini-TR Lesley, looks like everyone had a blast. I just adore the photo of Luke and your Mom very sweet they look deep in conversation...lol.

Loved reading your mini-TR! It looks like (other than a little rain and a ecoli scare) y'all had a wonderful time. That sailboat picture will be beautiful blown up and on display!

Just wanted to let you know that I have really enjoyed both of your trip reports. You guys seem like such a great family. It feels like I know you. Can't wait to read the next one. :thumbsup2

Your pics of Grand Haven are Great! I like Tim's "Got Rings" shirt. I have a friend who is from Michigan who told me the beaches there were great, but I have to admit I was one of the "the beaches are probably hard and crappy" group, until now. Wow. That looks like some great sand. Coming from the Northeast I'm used to a good beach and those look like some of the best I've seen.

How warm was the lake water? Obviously warm enough for the kids, but what about us moms?

Glad you had a great trip. Sorry school is approaching so soon. We're planning to head back to WDW in June. Maybe we'll see you there.

Can't you take another vacation so we can get another trippie--going anywhere for the holidays...something?

Sounds like you had a great time in Grand Haven. We go for a long weekend every summer, actually we usually stay at Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon but always drive down to the pier. We also do several day trips each summer, the benefits of living an hour away. I agree Michigan has some of the best beaches and no salt water to wash off after swimming is a huge benefit for us!

I'm glad you had such a great time in Grand Haven - sorry you had some rain though. I went to college on that side of the state and fell in love with it - I'm hoping to eventually get a job in the Grand Rapids area and move there permanently.

The pics are great!

Lesley,

Thank you so much for the Grand Haven report. We are non-natives to the Midwest, and often have wondered about where to vacation along the Great Lakes. It looks as though we have our answer now! :beach: Any tips about where to stay while we are there?? Also, we grew up going to the ocean along the mid-Atlantic Coast - do you have any idea how the lake water temperature compares to the ocean there?? I have always imagined that the lakes are freezing!!

Thanks for the TR Lesley! Grand Haven looks so nice! I am going to have to check it out I think. Looks alot better than these darn Ohio beaches! LOL

Great MIchigan TR! Looks like a blast...I love vacation communities like that. It looks so family friendly and peaceful!

Thanks for sharing!

Can't wait to hear where your family decides to stay next year!

Looks wonderful, I have wanted to go to Michigan for a while now (mackinac island) Maybe next year I googled it and its about 300 miles from where I live in Indiana..

Great mini TR!! :hippie: Sounds like you guys had a fun time (besides that E-coli scare with the water!!) Anyways, when in June do y'all plan on going to disney? DH & I might be going in June as well (we can't decide- June or August!!) I think it'll all depend if I get a teaching term or if I am still substituting!!

Despite the bad weather and the e-coli, it sounds like y'all had a good trip. And I see you are still getting use out of your crocs. I tried some on(the capris) and thought that the "bumps" on the footbed would bother me, so I didn't get them.
We really did, it was nice. You know I thought the bumps would bother me too, they do on other sandals, but I can't say enough good things about the Crocs, they are AWESOME!!! I'm due for another pair :goodvibes

Actually it only took us 7 hours in the car and that includes stops so not bad. It really was a great time. Nope, not looking forward to the return to school at all. No, Luke lives one school district over from where I teach and I like it that way, he has a great school, less transitions and lower class size, the district I teach in is HUGE and his class would have been close to 1000, his district now is 350, much nicer. I can't wait to start planning Disney, this new dining option has me intrigued, we may go for the premium and stay at POFQ again, we'll see what the rates forecast!!! I'm hoping the thread lasts a little while longer too. It's funny, when we were on vacation Tim checked and said "it's so sad, there are hardly any posts anymore, he was truly depressed, never thought it would effect him, I think I have him hooked on the Dis!!!

you are welcome. I know, it breaks my heart for Lauren, she's at that age where she cries when I leave her sight, it's gonna be tough. Glad you like Tim's shirt, the back is cool, pics of all the rings (of course comparing to Red Socks)

The beach is my next favorite place to be next to Disney, last year we had the perfect vacation hitting Myrtle Beach for a week with friends in their timeshare and then heading to Disney for a week, I was in HEAVEN!!! We love Destin, I've spent many spring breaks there, HAVE FUN!!!
